Rumour: Ezio in Soul Calibur 5.

Maybe gimmicky was too strong a word. I just don't like the direction the series was going since Soul Calibur II, and not much I've seen in SCV is convincing me otherwise.

At the very least you can call this game Soul Calibur V and not Slow Calibur V....... that by itself is a colossus improvement from Slow Calibur III and IV. You are quite frankly whinning to a ridiculous degree if you think 1 guest character will break the game and make it gimmicky. So far the new just guard/guard impact/armor breaker/critical edge mechanics look a lot more polished than the ones in the previous games, the question now is whether they can make everything balance within the short time from now till launch.

This Soul Calibur is starting to look very interesting indeed.

I'm not whining about just one character. None of the new characters pique my interest for one reason or another- Zwei and Not Amy are just a little to excessive, and I fear that their mystical stuff might be too powerful, and Not Taki and Not Xianghua just don't do it for me and I don't understand why those two were replaced, but Hilde and Tira are still hanging around.

I just liked the way SCII played, why can't they just go back to that instead of using Street Fighter IV-esque super moves? The speed is good, but everything else isn't clicking for me.

Brave Edge stuff reminds me of the super combos from Soul Edge/Blade. It's an evolution of that system of gameplay for me.

I, for one, like that they're trying to shake up the gameplay. SC2 was extremely boring to play and watch at high levels. I enjoy that they're doing things to really mix up the gameplay.

I'm a huge fan of meter management and the meta game that brings to the series.

I quoted this post, and it's very clear you hate me.

Hahaha. If anything Gaf's post processing Gaf's post processing system has it out for me.

Agreed on everything you've said. I, too, feel like this one has the potential to be the best SoulCalibur yet, and I haven't felt anything close to this about a new SC since 2. And even though I enjoyed SC2, there were things I hated about it outside of G2 nonsense. Avoid was ridiculously overpowered so horizontals didn't even work properly and characters had these huge movelists that were basically rendered useless by the most basic of moves and the system itself.

But I liked the way it was, it was efficent, to the point, and I didn't have to worry about three different meters, just the life meter. I really don't care much about high level play, just having fun with friends.

You can still do that if you're just goofing off with your brehs.

Then...why worry about the different meters if you're just having fun?

Just because they're there doesn't mean you have to use them. And if all you care is to have fun, what about meters precludes that if you're not particularly into the strategy surrounding management of said meters?

Honestly, the basic gameplay of SC has remained pretty much the same since SC2. If you don't get into the deeper mechanics, I don't see what there is to complain about aside from them constantly mixing up the character's movelists.

Oh yeah. I love SC2. It's definitely the best game in the series thus far. But it had HUGE problems and was super boring near the end of its life.

lol @ stepping A attacks. that makes me :(

Nothing we've seen indicates that SCV will be masher-unfriendly.
I wouldn't classify myself as a button masher. I have no idea on how the block button works, but I'm not a button masher.

I just hope they tighten up the axes. It's been a consistent problem with the series since at least SC2 and it's fucking annoying how inconsistent they can be at times.
