Rumour: Modern Warfare Remastered includes campaign & 10 multiplayer maps

People think this is going to be a full on remake? Lol, that's definitely not happening.. at least be a little realistic about your expectations.

Not sure why people discredit it because it says "ONLY"

That portion of the ad is a DISCLAIMER so they are being upfront with its contents.

Edit: Theres even an asterisk by "Multiplayer" under the box, and the word only is only in the disclaimer that shares the asterisk. A very common thing in ads.

having mp doesn't make sense as it splits the playerbase.

I don't think they really care about the player base. It's going to get them more copies sold and that's what they are looking at. I mean a new CoD will just come out a year later and everyone will just move to that.

That remaster is going to look rough if all they've done is bumped up the resolution. Characters from 360/PS3 Call of Duty games were really low poly, and the texture work was never that good. Also, I suspect any PC version they might release of that will be worse than the original PC version with the free DLC and proper dedicated servers.

Players were fiends for that spot. It took me till like level 20-25 I realized you could jump on the ladder outside the building. Haha.

And then there would be chaos when we all met in the middle to get down.

Such good good times. Nothing gave that feeling until Summit on Blops.

well that depends. i'm sure they care about selling season passes and map packs. are they going to release dlc for both the remaster and the new game?

its just all a bit weird

They could just combine it. 3 Infinity maps + 2 Cod4 maps in a pack.

What I'm guessing is they are just going to package everything together. I think there is a reason they are only releasing it with ten maps out of the original 17 for CoD 4. They are just going to put the others into the season pass and DLC for Infinite Warfare. Players will be like I get CoD 4 maps and Infinite Warfare maps all for the same price?! That's such a good deal breh!

Jblanks gets it!

There is a difference between a Remake and a Remaster :P
A remaster is higher resolution/framerate, a remake is like Halo 2 / Gears UE. The "remake" you're thinking of (like Ratchet & Clank) is more of a reboot/reimagining than a remake

Castle Crashers, Shadow Complex, TLOU and more are all titled "remastered" and nothing more than higher resolution/framerate and sometimes DLC mixed in so they can charge near full price again.

Unless we think Naughty Dog don't know what remastered means..

eh...i guess it could work if they give you the option to buy cod4 and iw map packs separately.

i still think splitting player base at launch is a bad idea.

Uh, a remake is literally remaking a game, from scratch. That has nothing to do with the definition you have.

A 'remaster' is just the current PR term for an enhanced version of a game already made. Those changes can have asset changes, and the scale changes depending on the work put into the project, but they are still primarily the same title.

Um, I think you've misread me because I'm agreeing with you here. Unless you're responding to the R&C bit? in which case I'm not sure how much of the game has changed to be honest just that some of it has, it was the first example that popped into my head. Maybe it was a bad example.

i guess if they were feeling especially evil they could skip a year and could have made this that year's COD game lol

If it was the full trilogy and maps weren't being cut out I don't think there would be much outcry, especially with how Ghosts was received. Gives everyone another year of dev time too.

The question is...will it feature the Christmas/Winter themed version of Crash that was exclusive to the PC version?

Well, no, it probably won't. But it should.

If the only way to get the game is in the legacy edition I can see player base being an issue later on its in life. They should offer it separately.

I would just package up all past single player campaigns in some bundles, remaster those that need to be, then just have COD Online for $10 a month, which curates and rotates all past and future COD online MP maps

Yes this is what I'm worried about. Did they drum this up with the sole purpose of selling Infinite Warfare? Or is it something they decided to do for other reasons as well?
Call of Duties get announced in early May usually right? During the NBA games?

My mom didn't let me play war games when I was a kid so I'm glad I can finally experience this apparent masterpiece.

I can't wait to get destroyed by you guys!

I feel old
I was in Iraq when I heard Call of Duty 4 was going modern, one of my squadmates had a Game Informer mailed to him and told me about it. We got back two weeks before it came out, leaving me a lot of free time to get really drunk and play the multiplayer all night.

Cutting out half of the maps...

High chance they reserved them DLC shenanigans, bumping the price to $60 by the time you buy everything.

They're more than 10 maps that are great in this game, so limiting it to 10 is them ensuring it doesn't outsell their newer game lol.

What are they chances they port 4 MW maps for Infinite Warfare if it really is remastering that deserves next-gen port? I wonder how Activision will handle this oversaturation of the series.
