RWBY Fighting Game Announcement at EVO

This would be a perfect match, if it is indeed happening. I would want to play as these characters:

JFI1sFE.jpg

So bare minimum cast is:

Ruby
Weiss
Blake
Yang
Jaune
Pyhrra
Ren
Nora
Penny
Sun
Torchwick
Cinder
Neo
Emerald
Mercury

Other likely additions include: Velvet, Ozpin, Qrow, Winter, Ironwood, Glynda, Neptune, Adam

Calling it now, Pyhrra is going to be S-tier.

...I have no idea what this is.

But the few clips in this topic have already gotten me interested. Consider this on my radar!

what if ASW has nothing to do with it and instead it's being made by rt's game division, and we get the fighting game equivalent to the crappy hack and slash they already made

Hey so I stopped watching after Monty died. I remember watching the first episode of Season 3 (the arena with the different biomes) and was really turned off by the action direction. Does the show's action come back to its original level of beauty later?

DBZ and RWBY from Arc System Works would be me a fighting gamd and Arc System Works fan for basically life.

Ahhhhh, so this was the other thing Monty Oum was on before he passed, huh?

Now, it makes much more sense...

What? Were you expecting him to continue work on Dead Fantasy or something? He had said he moved on from finishing DF right after starting RWBY

Oof, waiting like a month for EVO is going to be rough.

At least it's enough time to catch up with Volume 4 which I never got around to

Him and Sheena did mention continuing DF eventually. Lightning was gonna show up in part 13 lol.

Oh...so he had jokes huh, that's just like him

Some budget cgi YouTube show that Rooster Teeth made and is doing everything in their power to pimp out in hopes of it becoming mainstream some day. This is just another one of their efforts.

Its got a pretty sizable fanbase as it is, similar to RvB, so it does make sense for them to continue it. Also i think they are trying really hard to keep Monty's efforts respected, he brought a significant amount to Rooster teeth that essentially changed their entire way of machinima, and pretty much inspired the entire rest of the internet with poser stuff

Man, the last time I even watched Dead Fantasy was back when I was still finishing college, back in '08! I then lost track after I graduated and such.

Yeah...watching Haloid in highschool seems like a world away now

Actually, I'm gonna call Francepan as the devs for this. They have experience in weapon-based fighters (UNI), and the work for UNI has largely slowed and will likely stay slow after the console release of UNIST. Kinda depends on whether they want to do a 3D/Unreal game or just a straightforward 2D fighter. By bet is on the latter.

It is a true shame that Roosterteeth couldn't keep their really good fight animators for Volume 4 after Monty's passing, with Shane leaving and Dillion being a freelancer, and it really shows with pretty much only one good fight scene.

Now RWBY is in this weird position where without the standout action scenes, there's not really much too say about it. It still has the same problems as when it started, where it feels like they really are trying to go big, but budget and time is still a problem for the series. And they don't really make good use of the limited time each volume has, with way too much characters and not the right ones getting the amount of focus they need and the plot not really progressing last Volume. Plus RT is still trying to create more new shows like gen:lock so it feels like they're just satisfied with where RWBY is now instead of trying to make it even better.

There's a lot more in-depth criticism on the reddit, but it really is a shame that Volume 4 couldn't maintain my interest compared the first three, and I don't have much hope for Volume 5 this October, unless RT somehow pulls a miracle.

I guess it could be a toss up either way between Francepan and Arc

A RWBY game seems too low profile for something like Arc, and doujin devs like Francepan make perfect sense in this regard as lower budgeted devs.

On the other hand they have both expressed interest in the series(although francepan is more a fan of skullgirls)

This is a 3D anime made by Americans right? I still need to watch it.

i guess? I mean its anime inspired anyways, but the actual content of the series..is very YMMV. Its not for everybody. THese guys are amateurs in both writing and many other things and you can tell, but they have a lot of heart for what they are doing, and do have talent for certain things. Of course with their chief animator(and creative director)gone since the second season, things have been a roller coaster
