[S-Conf] The Last of Us gameplay demo

How does it look unfinished?
Maybe I'm just being too nitpicky, but the menu looks a bit simple, like it was thrown together quickly in photoshop, just to have it there:

Compared to something like Drake's diary anyway.

Holy shit at some of you, get off your high horse and stop acting like you are the epitome of refined taste.

Can't some of you appreciate anything anymore?

Didn't want to come in here and say that... thought it looked incredible. Beautifully crafted, no matter how you look at it.

Probably because it's not finished? And UI is usually the last things that get finalized.

Guys! Guys!

You know how everyone says "Omg, I jizzed my pants!" after seeing something incredible, but you know they are exaggerating.

This one is real. I ejaculated into my underwear. It is fucking ruined. Thanks Naughty Dog.

Fucking assholes.

It looked VERY nice graphically.

Other than that, it's more QTE and constant cinematics in a highly linear form of gameplay. Certainly better in tone than all the burly-warrior/soldier crap I see everywhere, but in terms of gameplay it's nothing really new, just well put together.

Almost all games are converging into waist-high covers, QTEs, and cinematics every few seconds.

Is there an interview or something yet? I'd really like to know how scripted those actions were, because they looked almost too good to be true. :o

Awesome looking presentation, love all the subtlety in the animations like gently placing his hand against the wall when walking down the hallway. Kickback on the guns and gunplay in general looks good, hope the melee system is good looks hellla scripted.

I am absolutely in awe of what I have just seen.

I have no words. I do not know what to say. How are we supposed to react?

Is this even real?
What if this isn't real?

This game truly has me hyped. I usually joke and say "OMG ETC ETC.." but I'm STILL fukking hyped hours after seeing the footage. I can't believe how realistic the sh1t looks.

Some of you in here just need to drink a cup of clorox bleach and shut the fuck up seriously with all your damn nitpicking. The freaking game isn't even out yet and there are FULLY WELL FORMED OPINIONS on UNKNOWN MECHANICS and sh1t.

Fukk your opinions my opinion is what matters.

After seeing Joel throw the molotov the girl seemed a bit distraught. That emotion is clearly LACKING in other games so to speak. This game will be something else.

Last of Us=Game of the All time.

I feel like this game has very little room for error. Little ammo, losing hp due to anything.
Expect a lot of restart checkpoints happening to achieve perfect runs through the smallest fights.

Loved the demo. I like how dangerous the combat was.

And did anyone else dig the music during that combat section? Sounded pretty cool. Wasn't too heavy or loud, but was just enough to heighten the atmosphere.

really excited about the item crafting there. seems a lot of item you can collect, several different types of battery? 2 kind of sugar, what are you going to use sugar for, food?

That gameplay demo was amazing. I question how scripted it was. Does it play out completely differently if you are stealthy the whole time? Can you double-back around the enemies after they've spotted you and lost sight?

If the full game can live up to that demo, fucking wow Naughty Dog.
Yes.

After i saw the hunting/season/naval battle video of AC3, the video of Watch_Dogs and the video of this one, i've gone to pee with a huge grin i couldn't get rid of.

I saw them running away from these guys and blocking the door, so I figured this was right after the bus ambush.

the bus ambush demo start with them getting dragged out of bus by bandits, so the beginning is already different, although maybe this demo is continuation from bus demo gameplay that we haven't seen.

I didn't see any QTEs, unless you consider hitting buttons on a controller to play the game a QTE. There was one on screen button indicator and it was to look at a poster outside of combat.

I love how the game finally does away with the slightly glitchy transition from NPC AI animation (walking etc) to canned animation, something that's been plaguing every game to some degree since probably HL2 introduced this.

When you see Ellie in that first room walk up to the window to look outside, or when she stops and points to a poster, or when she jumps down the window, it all looks like a smooth continuation of one action to another. Her legs or arms never make that little glitch when the AI walking stops and canned action starts.

I will tell you this.
After witnessing the flood of shovel and FPSware the past 24 hour of E3 had been forcing upon us. I nearly felt as if the world of videogames had always been like this. And that I had to like it, love it, or admit to myself that I was never that much into gaming. Perhaps I had just finally hit that moment in my life where I had outgrown videogames?

Honestly, if it wasn't for this game, I would have given up on E3 today. But this has reminded me that there is at least, one good game out there at E3 this year.

Thank you based ND.

A health bar and ammo indicator? A little ham-fisted for a game that puts so much emphasis on cinematic immersion etc etc.

Just watched the trailer and I have to say that's probably the most visceral melee and shooting sequences I've seen in gaming yet.

From the way the guy is choked out with his eyes bulging out, to the guy begging before taking a shotgun to the face, the guy being bashed into the table and then the blood just pours from his head and so forth.

I'm hoping that the game isn't entirely linear like Uncharted though. This type of setting should invite players through multiple potential routes instead of just one so that in one game you have a collection of A,B,C,D paths, others A,E,C,F and so forth.

It can be done and would only add to both the game and re-playability. The ammo indicator should go though since ammo should be in short supply and players should mentally manage them just as they would have to in real life. It can always be checked in the bag inventory screen provided that doesn't pause the game. The health bar should also be incorporated in another less intrusive fashion. Perhaps a visual degradation of the character (ie. more bloody, moves slower, clutches ribs, etc.).

I'm sure there will be an option to not show at least the ammo indicator, that way you have to count yourselves how many bullet left in your gun. it's kinda funny in the demo where the player purposefully shoot an empty gun to show off enemy ai response when the player obviously know he's out of ammo because of ammo indicator,

Wow this looks incredible. Now can you play the game stealthfully and avoid the shooting if need be?

it will still be A,B,C,D, but hopefully between A and B there will be multiple path you can pick from.

Curious to see how Ellie's A.I functions in different situations. I assume the demo went down a deliberate path/ sequence of actions for the press conference
