Sales of PS4 Camera & Move controller skyrocket after PS VR announcement

I'm still iffy about getting PSVR at launch but if I'm being honest I've kinda wanted a move for a while so I could play Time Crisis and House of the Dead on PS3.

PS Eye is literally $5 on Amazon right now. Might as well get one before the price skyrockets.

Make sure it's the correct camera. That may be the PS3 one.

Tried finding new PSmoves in online shops here in Norway, no one is selling any more/yet. Will be buying second hand or from Amazon UK.

And I just cancelled it. Something is telling me that's a really impulsive move (pun not intended). I'm not confident that they will release updated move controllers but the headset doesn't come out until autumn. I can wait until then to find out for sure.

Yeah, I'm waiting for the new one. There has to be an updated version at the very least renaming Start/Select. I'd also expecting some other tweaks and maybe improved quality and ergonomics. Nothing major in order to keep old Move owners happy, but I'll pay the extra to get the latest revision.

Wow, it didn't even occur to me that Sony might release updated controllers closer to the time. Good shout, just cancelled my order too.

I had hoped that Sony would deliver a better camera and motion controllers. A lot of people have talked about the PSVR headset, but i actually think that the camera and move controllers is what might make PSVR a less good experience. I have tried the Rift and the Vive and it's a huge difference with the motion controllers and stuff like room scale vr compared to a regular controller. I'm not going to be an early adopter, but when i'm going in it's gonna be all in.

I have tried the move controllers and the ps camera and i'm not impressed. It was a worry for me and early hands on reviews seems to notice the same things. It's just not as good as Vive and Rifts motion controllers. I'm also a little worried that it will be a big minus in the future when Sony has to support the camera and move controllers, when the other headsets get features like room scale.

I have lots of time to decide, but right now and in the future it's a worry for me if i'm going with the PSVR.

I think people er underestimating how important the camera and motion controllers are.

Unless there's a major discount on the camera right now there's really no reason to buy it. If you grab it for $50 then you have no VR for the next 7 months.

When it actually comes out there will be a bundle for $499 or less. You're basically just spending the money you would then earlier than you need to

Yeah, I'll get the camera now anyway. In the meantime I can still have fun with the Playroom, and i heard that Until Dawn is great when used with the Camera.

Agreed...only spent $40 on camera and 2x move controllers. Feel good man....

no you should be forced to buy more cameras and controllers and sell yours because people in the other thread said the base package needed to include everything lol.

OT - it totally makes sense if you have any interest in VR go out and get those cameras and moves now... you can probably snap up the used ones but I am predicting now every single used one will be gone within a few months. (other than new used offerings of course).

buying a couple accessories for the price of a game makes the 399 VR set an easier hit to take later and most people who are excited for it will probably do this. which is of course the reason the base package is VR only.

great argument. so, if I don't buy it now, I'll have VR?

Definitely, the camera has it's uses at the moment. But just to buy to get a headstart on the VR game seems a bit moot

If I see a camera for like $25 I'll grab one. Sony has already said PSVR isn't being sold at a loss, so I could definitely see them heavily discounting the other stuff at release (they kind of have to, at least for the camera)

I'm less concerned for the remotes but it seems like they were ideal for Rez so I'll end up getting em

Uh...not what I was saying. You're buying a mandatory accessory for VR early to get a head start but actually aren't really saving any money in the long run. (Unless of course, there is a large discount on the current price) Aka $50 spent 7 months before necessary (or maybe even less at that point, as it's 7 months away)

Bought the camera last night from Amazon and two 2nd hand move controllers from CEX, £10 each. Sorted. Anyone know if any games need the PS Move Navigation controller?

Nice one, I managed to pick up a PS4 camera with a copy of Bloodborne off a bloke a few months back for £20.

Come October I will blow the dust off the Move and we are in business.

Obviously no numbers yet but it seems like the people really want this device (and just VR in general).

i still need all of that :x

lots of camera confusion lately. let's clear it up:

- Eye Toy (only works on PS2 and PS3, doesn't work on PS4 or PSVR)

- Playstation Eye (only works on PS3, doesn't work on PS4 or PSVR)

- Playstation Camera (only works on PS4, works for PSVR)

I think it's silly that everyone is rushing to get these devices now. You don't even know what the bundle price is going to be yet and there's a confirmed bundle now. For all you know, you're wasting money given a bundle might be $50 more and include a camera, Move, and navigation controller. Unless you can find a killer sale/deal on one now, everyone should just wait until the bundle is announced or a sale/deal does happen. There's no reason to rush right now to buy these things.

That feel when you picked up a PS Camera last year for $25 at Best Buy in preparation for VR

You got ripped off. Best Buy had it for $15 in December. =)

How Amazon come up with these percentages:

Old position: 215
New position: 20

Difference: 195 places

Difference (195) / New Position (20) = 9.75

9.75 * 100 = 975%

In other words, it's not "up" 975%. Its chart position is 975% "better". The numbers essentially mean nothing, and are not related to sales numbers.

The difference between #215 and #20 should be significantly higher than the stated percentage, #20 is usually the slot you'd find the PS4 in, while #215 is Knack or whatever.

Yes. It's easier to just say, you need:

- PlayStation 4 Camera

Dang! I've not used then in a long time, and on digging them out, my balls are now a funny shade of yellow.

Do know exactly which games require PS Move?

they'll probably go into more detail at E3. since PSVR was revealed it seemed (to me at least) that most experiences were DS4 based, but some of them also used Move controllers. i remember them saying that a lot of software will support both to give the user a choice.

Battlezone uses the DS4, luckily, so there's hope that there won't be too many Move-required games.

Will a PS3 Eye Camera work?

Also, it says a camera is required, so will there be people who just buy the PSVR and be SOL if they dont have the camera?

Nope. PS3 Eye Camera (which will not even work on PS4) is nothing like the PS4 Camera.
