Sales of PS4 Camera & Move controller skyrocket after PS VR announcement

You mean people don't want to buy from 3rd party seller who charge arms and legs if they don't have to? Who'd thunk?

Fact is, at this point in time, Amazon UK doesn't have PS4 camera for sale anymore and the only way to get them is via 3rd party sellers, who'd definitely rip you off.
The third party seller, who does offer Prime, is actually £1 less than Amazon.

Ya because many people use Prime.
You're being sarcastic, but many people do use Prime. Possibly 60M+ in the US, and 80M+ worldwide.

Besides, Prime or not, third party sellers eligible for Prime have the same shipping rates as Amazon themselves. And at least here in Arizona, I always try to buy from third parties because they don't charge sales tax. I don't know about the UK.

Won't lie, as soon as this announcement was made I ordered 2 PS Move controllers off of Amazon.

Deep down I feel like a hypocrite because I constantly dumped on Sony when PS Move was announced, I thought it was a stupid gimmick that Sony was using to win over the filthy casual Wii demo.

Well you weren't wrong :)

I doubt they had PSVR on the radar in 2010.

I have a camera and stand from close to launch still, not sure if I wanna grab move controllers yet or just use the ds4. I hated wagging my arms around with the wii >.> it's giving me painful memories lol

It will happen.

The PlayStation Move controllers are going on 6 years old now & newer tech will be cheaper to make so if demand is high you will see a new model pop up.

it may happen next year. but they really don't NEED to update those wands right away.

- micro / USB mismatch, who cares really
- select / start, some games will take control of the gameDVR to use Social a Screen functions so no recording anyways... besides if the Move controllers maintain Start and Select, again really not a big deal, they are a separate scheme from DS
- 240Hz tracking was not possible until PS4 Camera
- stereo depth cueing same deal
- lack of dpad is irrelevant when you can point at the thing you want (might be nice - but it does have face buttons, sooooo yeah. remap the labels in VR. you can't actually see the controller ;)

they designed these things very well. I'm not sure if the state of the art w/r/t the accelerometers and magnetometers used vs the DS4 but they had millimeter accuracy on the PS3, so it's probably still quite good. Tumble and Sports Champions table tennis attested to this IMO.

Well... I'm pretty sure Richard Marks heavily implied that move controllers were primarily designed with VR in mind. During the same presentation he also showed slides detailing VR prototypes from Sony back from around 2010. Hopefully someone has a link to the presentation I'm talking about...

Picked up Move wands on Tuesday for dirt cheap and just ordered a camera off of Amazon for a good price...getting this done now before this stuff skyrockets on all ends which I'm afraid it's fixing to do.

People are really afraid of the PlayStation Move & Camera prices going up? lol if anything they will get cheaper if they start selling more.

But in a situation like this where Sony can start manufacturing more now thanks to the demand I don't see the price going up.

Eh you're kinda right too. Average used prices will likely go up. I don't know if they will change MSRP though (that may cause issues with retailers). Will be interesting.

Have a set of move accessories still in box from when it was on discount in 2013 at Best Buy 5 bucks each. Only used one for Resident Evil 5, Socom 4, Heavy Rain and MAG. Heavy Rain move support was terrible btw.

Finally I can get more use. Socom 4 was pretty good as was MAG.

Just need to get a new camera.

Current demand is low because there hasn't been a compelling use for Move for years. The prices reflect that demand. The only reason sellers can afford to price it so low is because these people working out of their garages got a bunch of units super-cheap back when major retailers were getting rid of them years ago.

That being said, anyone who buys now in fear that prices will skyrocket is only going to save themselves maybe $30-50 total. Retail is only $20 more per Move, and don't forget the likelihood that Sony's 2 Move bundle (w/ or w/out camera) alongside PSVR's launch will offer a very good value.

The camera has been selling around the $40 mark since like a few months after the release of the PS4 & PlayStation Move can be bought from Amazon for $38 even if the marketplace sellers run out or jack the prices up.

But I really think Sony is going to manufacture a newer model if the old model run out instead of making more of the older models.

I can see them also doing a newer revision of the Move, especially with an updated micro USB for charging as well.

See I told y'all not to panic lol

unless you found a really good deal the $499 bundle is better than the prices on amazon for the camera & 2 PS Moves because you also get a game with the bundle.
