That's where I'm at right now. My S3 is a piece of junk. My friend's S3 just died over the weekend. I'm open to other options, but I don't want to sacrifice style for specs and don't want to pay exorbitant prices. An iphone on contract sounds about the best solution for me. But I'm only going to go that route if the rumors of the larger screens (or an option for larger screens) are true.

I really liked my S2. I liked my S3 for a few months until it inexplicably started being a slow piece of junk.

No kidding. At least Sony appears to be making some attempt to modify the aesthetics of of their flagships. Samsung seemed to be kidding when they said that the S5 wouldn't feel like an incremental change over the S4.

Wow that is really ugly. Side bezels are still too big and the back cover is just appallingly bad and I say this as former s3 owner. I've got a G2 now and after seeing the S5 I don't regret it at all. My next phone will either be an HTC or another LG.

It doesn't look any wider than the S4 (just longer) so it should at least be comfortable in my hand, and I always put a case on my phone so I'm not too concerned about going with the plastic back (but I do applaud Sammy for sticking with removable batteries and micro sD...I have a 32gb micro sd I really don't want to get rid of). At least it's a textured one this time.

I have the S3 and it's the best phone I've ever used, and everything I see about the S4 makes it seem just as awesome. Again, reserving judgment until I hear about the internals....if it has a 4k display and 64 bit processing, then this phone is mine.

And yeah, it looks really bad. And I'm sure TouchWiz will still be completely awful. I hope this doesn't sell well, Samsung doesn't deserve to be on top of the Android world.

Agreed. This is the most perplexing thing to me about these kinds of threads.

Same reason why people care how their cars, furniture, and clothing look. Aesthetics matters, especially with Android, which has so many options. Why settle for an ugly phone when a competitor has the same specs but nicer looking?

Fantastic that it is waterproof and dustproof. Hopefully that sets a precedent for others to follow. Although I have a hard time believing a phone THIS large will be a huge volume seller. Not that it hasn't been said every time a new Galaxy launches (sans s4).
