Samsung's Galaxy S5 has leaked

Watching this Samsung unveiling and cant help but feel Sony should be up there, the Sony is absolutely the best phone announced today.

If this is available soon on T-Mobile I'll probably get the Sony phone. This phone is a joke if they don't announce a prime version with higher specs.

Got my S4 at the end of January for free as part of a 2 Day deal at Best Buy, only had to pay tax. After seeing this I really don't think it looks different enough to warrant paying 200 bucks. I'm happy with my S4.

Looks terrible.

This in particular looks fucking disgusting. Damn, Samsung :/

Samsung found a new design muse.

if it weren't for the bezels it'd probably be a step up in design over the S4 - samsung glossy plastic really is the most horrible material known to man. that said, the lack of in house innovation is really starting to show here, not in the least how apple has managed to technologically eclipse them in areas like CPU design and sensor implementation.

when all is said and done the iPhone 5S' architecture will prove to be upwards of two years ahead of the game, which is pretty incredible really. doesn't look like qualcomm will have a substantially new offering until the middle of 2015 given we haven't heard a whisper about it. apple - by launching later - will also get to easily capitalise on TSMC's 20nm process that all its competitors are on the wrong release cadence for, which along with the shift to a larger screen and a ram increase will make the iPhone 6 an easy winner.

i barely see what makes this any better than the note 3, especially considering it's impractically large anyway. there's little usability penalty going from 5.2 or whatever to ~6.0 inches given you can't pocket either or fully use them with one hand.

Shows what happens whey you focus on less cores and Ghz I guess :P
The new cores are really amazing though. I think they're smaller or same size as other ARM cores and perform as well as Intel BayTrail.

Oh look, a watch you have to hold in an awkward position to read...

there must be a S5 prime...there must be...where is the 64bits Exynos SoC...i cannot believe Sony has Samsung totally beat this round, even down to the specs.

If nothing else, the Gear Fit looks hot. I'm expecting $199 or $299, but seems worth it for anyone who goes to the gym regularly.

It's huge! I thought the S4 was bordering on too big.

I hope ~4.7" remains a viable screen size for android phone. My smallish hands can't handle 5+ inches.

Man, we just got the z1. So...yeah.
Sony needs to release faster in the west.

The west = USA now? We've had the Z1 since September here in Europe. But yeah, they're always late in the US, they've had trouble breaking into that market. Did they even have a real presence there until quite recently?

I'm very disapointed in this.

I switched from only iPhones to the GS4 last year and love this phone to death. Was really looking forward to this phone to fix the few problems (build quality) I have with the GS4.

Since thats not the case, its either Z2 or see what Lumia will look like this year.

"Now" as in "Stamina mode has been part of Sony's smartphones for a while"? ;)

Well, not to demerit Stamina Mode, but that's mostly functional on phone off, where the mode Samsung showed was a screen on mode which cut CPU clocks and ended background tasks and services (Like Stamina mode) as well as takes advantage of AMOLED and reduces everything to black and white.

it doesn't exist obviously, apple gave what, five months notice? that announcement was just trying to save face in a wholly transparent way.

what i'm really, really surprised about here is the fact that samsung, htc and sony haven't moved their major focus over to improving imaging. at the least to be closer to nokia and apple. given the rest of the specs race is plainly exhausted it was the obvious selling point for this flagship generation, and that's something that could have been predicted a year ago. instead it seems to be even less of an emphasis than last year's models (sony and htc at least tried, even if with limited success). no consumer can get excited about marginal increases in speed (when devices had power to spare anyway), screen size, battery life or waterproofing. those are not going to drive upgrades, but a truly major jump in photographic capability might have done.

Very underWhelming. The phone is slightly bigger than my G2 and the screen is slightly smaller. That's all I needed to know. All my phone needs is the Kit Kat update and I'm good.

Not unless they do something with the screen size.

Next IPhone is rumored to have a 5 inch screen version. I was gonna get the s5 in March and sign up for jump to get the new iPhone as I've never had one before, but I'm not spending $200 to upgrade to this.

I guess overall I think the Moto X is my fav Android device still. Great size, specs are good enough for what I do on a phone and it has the nicest look.

I pray Lenovo keeps the line going. X2 or iPhone 6 will be my next phone most likely.

Well no Prime version announced, guess I'll be getting a Z2 then, I can't wait till April for a new phone. Hopefully the Z2 is "cheaper" in Canadia

It's a term used a lot in gaming side sales thread, so probably bad diction on my part.

But yeah, the Z and Z1 sold quite well here for how much they ship. I see statistics and first hand experience at my job, and being perfectly honest they should break the exclusivity with my company.

Easy to sell, and lower MSRP compare to other flagship android devices. More useful features and buzz.

The US market is very price sensitive, and sony is in a good place with their current US fan base when it comes to positive buzz. Especially with the PS4.

Build quality is complete shit for the internals though. So many come back with dead batteries, the amount of warranty exchanges makes me want to pull my hair out.

Probably will be. The popular phones usually are priced with a premium so those are the Galaxy products and Apple products.

It's like the Samsung "design team" seat at the table for ideas on the next phone and the first thing to be said is "we have to make it bigger".

Cue the Galaxy S6, 4K resolution 8 inch screen smartphone you can keep in your backpack.

Well, that just solidified my decision on picking up a Sony phone as my next device. I have the S4 now and the plastic cheap feel of it is such a major turn off after the wow factor of the screen wears off. Just overall feels and looks cheap.

Will be picking up a Z2 as soon as it becomes available.

It seems with every year Samsung seems to make uglier devices. Is anyone going to buy those watches?
I'll grab the Gear Fit. Seems like it was actually designed by people who go to the gym regularly. For the Gear and Gear Neo, I still can't see why it wouldn't simply be easier to use the phone.

I just switched from S3 to Sony Z1s. After looking at S5, happy I did.

Just paid off my phone and I'm looking for a new one. Almoooost bought the Note 3 from tmobile the other night. Still trying to wait to see what the latest and greatest is. The note 3 seems perfect but I read it doesn't have a good camera. I want a phone that has a badass camera on it, for daylight and night. Should I keep waiting? Or is this phone have have it? I
Z1s has a badass camera. 20.7mp with Sony's G-lens. Took some shots at night the other day, VERY happy with picture quality.

Same old Samsung garbage. Cheap plasticky crap, crap finish on the back, speaker on the back STILL. Why people buy their shit phones, I will never understand.

you know what sometimes I think samsung made the hyper glaze back and over a slippery as fuck phone so that people would drop it and have to buy new ones

I can't even imagine using my note II without a otterbox defender on it.
