Samurai Warriors 4 |OT| Raging through Japanese History at Hyper Speed

Yeah going from Warriors Orochi 3 Ultimate to this on the Vita is pretty crazy. The presentation is really well done and going back to a more serious story is nice change. Definitely has less soldier pop in than WO3. Ugh, makes me want to double dip for the PS4 version.

Picked up My anime pack pre-order and got maybe a hour in before work.

Game is awesome, Oda Nobunaga is awesome, No is awesome and getting off work is awesome.

I'm really happy with this PS4 port. I've only done one mission so far, but I'm really impressed with how well it is running and how nice it looks (for a warriors game at least). It's way better than 8XL's port was.

Samurai Warriors 4 is out on PSN now? Awesome! 'Really been looking forward to playing this, since I haven't played a Samurai Warriors game since the second one. I'm eager to see how the series has changed, much like how Dynasty Warriors 7 was a big change from prior DW games.

I'll be getting this next week. It'll be tough to find time for this in-between Bayonetta 2, though.

I am starting to regret my digital purchase haha. I can't start anything. It's been half an hour and everything is still locked and says "This mode/stage has not been fully downloaded"

EDIT. And of course everything unlocks the second I post

Only tech issue with the PS4 version so far is that it has a bit of soldier pop-in. Not as blatant as Orochi 3 but you won't see a veritable ocean of red enemy bars stretching a mile long as you often can in DW8.

Create a Warrior(CAW) is surprisingly robust also. Lots of sliders and accessories to customize. I think more parts are coming as DLC too, but I was not expecting as many options as there are.

I'm downloading this right now on my Playstation TV. Can't wait...I put a ton of time into 8XL on the Vita and if this is a better port that's wonderful news. I know 8XL wasn't perfect on the Vita, but I couldn't get enough of it all the same!

Just picked this up! I passed up all the warriors games last gen and Samurai Warriors 1+2 were my favorites in the PS2 days so it feels really good to be back up in this mofo

damn, Naotora is an absolute monster in this game

Edit: Also, has anyone gotten their PS4 DLC code from gamestop to work? Because mine still isnt...

Bought online today and it's expected to arrive in roughly a week. This will be only the second Warriors game I've played with the only other one being Dynasty Warriors 5 Empires (or something like that, early 360 game). I've been wanting to grab one of these games and have no real idea what I'm getting myself into.

With this coming would it be worth it to grab the recent Dynasty Warriors 8 on PS4 as well (since it's fairly cheap on Gamefly) or for someone that's new/casual with the series would it feel like a step back? I know it's not as good of a port to PS4 which is why I didn't jump on it previously.

I thought the digital version also came out today. Hopefully gamestop has a copy left over after I get off of work.

Edit: Nevermind it's up on PSN even though it said it was out Nov 18.

Damn. I want. I don't really like the direction they've taken with the Dynasty warriors but it looks like they kept the old-style with Samurai Warriors.

I really should'nt buy this game, I really should'nt. But I am. But there are so many I have already that I've hardly touched and so many to come (big games too like DAIII, GTAV, FCIV etc) and yet I still get a Musou game. What's wrong with me?

Bah! I just want to hit stuff! On Friday. When it's out in the UK. Bah!

How on earth did it take until the 4th game in the series for the Kessen Mummy Man to finally make his musou debut.

Better late than never, I guess. I forgive you, Koei, even if you de-mummified him in the process.

For those curious: Normal difficulty is extremely easy. Start on Hard if you want a more balanced experience from the get-go(ie. not killing officers in a few basic combos).

Oh and I think some of those bonus items you get(at least with the PSN release) act on a cooldown. So essentially every minute or two you can heal up or buff your attack with an item that never expries. Kind of weirdly breaks the item progression in the early game.

I've played countless Dynasty Warriors, but for some reason 8: XL got stale fast. I can't really put my finger on it as to why.

How is Samurai Warriors 4 in comparison? I've never played an entry in the franchise. The Japanese audio alone is making me wanna pick it up. How deep is it in terms of items and progression...is it identical to DW?

What' are the main differences from DW?

For me it was because once I made an uber weapon (floating swords thing with mounted charge spam), it didn't matter if a character's main weapon was crap since I could just use the OP one.

I know I could just restrict myself to only the main weapon type, but I don't like to self-gimp to compensate for the game's flaws.

Burnt out on DW8 as well. Mostly felt it was a very droll game, especially the mundane Story and Ambition modes. Had some novel improvements in the combat, but storm rush became too central to clearing generals, and several other nitpicks eventually pushed me away.

SW4 so far has made a great first impression. Story mode is cut up into more concise sets of missions giving incentive to replay with various character specific events to clear. The combat feels much tighter with a lot of great systems in place to enhance offense and defense. Hyper dash attacks are such a rush to pull off, and you can riposte or guard break officers with good timing. Haven't tried the new Conquest mode but I have heard its a vast improvement over Ambition mode.

Yea, I wasn't quite so bothered by this as it meant I can take lower level warriors into harder difficulties with an OP weapon and continue the persistent progression grind for top-tier drops. But yes, it did get stale always using the same weapon regardless of your character. I much prefer sticking to unique weapons in these games.

Ok, I see how they got this running so much smoother on the vita compared to DW8. The textures are much lower res. Worthy sacrifice for the game not running like ass.

So what are the odds that this will get an updated version and I should hold off on buying? (which I should do anyway because I have a fairly substantial Musou backlog)
Also is the pre-order DLC available to buy normally?

There are two questions I have.

1. Is this game running at a better fps than DW8 (ps4) and with less pronunced DOF?

2. Is the character creation system deep enough for me to create Kenshin Himura?

If any of these aspects disappoint...
who am I kidding? it's preordered already, hoping to get it tomorrow with luck. Hype!

Can't wait for this to come out on the EU PSN. Only have a Vita to play it on, but I suppose if I was fine with how DW8 ran on the Vita then this would be even better?

Has anyone played this via remote play on the Vita? How are the controls? I would imagine it would look awesome on the Vita with remote play, since it won't have as much pop-in and better graphics than the native Vita version.

Why did I never think of this.

Hey, I know it's an obvious thing, but I always wanted to play as him..Loved the character creator in DW8 vita, but it didn't felt robust enough to aptly create him. Had to use a female model and even still didn't come close. The closest style would have to be Zhou Tai, but I never played a Samurai Warriors game before, so I'm pretty hyped about this.

Was a little disappointed to see that said mode was nowhere present in the ps4 version, glad to see that it's a thing in SW4. I think I'm gonna waste some time trying to recreate all sorts of characters. Sometimes I'm such a nerd -_-"

Does the Vita version have less pop-in compared to WO3U Vita?

Vita is the first full pledged musou game out there.

It doesn't have stealth soldiers like Musou Orochi 2 Ultimate and has less FPS drops than in Shin Sangoku Musou 7 with Mushouden. No broken sounds either. Or retarded rock paper scissors battles.

Reaching 1000 enemies is normal, unlike that of Musou Orochi.

Has bad bugs but have been patched.

According to gc, that is.

I am still not sure whether to buy this game or try Chronicles 3(rd?). The lack of enemies in Chronicles... is kinda weird.

THIS GAME MAN

THIS GAME

Man, this games looks and runs so much better than previous Warriors games on the PS4. Sure does rev up the fan in the PS4 however (DW8 did too).

I'm loving this. It was well worth the wait. My mains have so far become Nene, Hideyoshi, Oichi, Noh, and Sakon.

Just played for hours and I can't wait to play again. Ugh exhausted now, gonna pass out sleep haha

miyamoto musashi in?

Debating on this or hyrule warriors.

These games are the perfect thing to play with drinks or a gf. Since anyone can play and at nearly any inebriation level lol

Despite the fact that I've been playing pretty much nothing but Hyrule Warriors since it came out, I'm loving this already.

Just hook the Musou up to my veins, I guess.

Just picked up the anime edition. Really glad to hear it's good, I was on the fence since I still have orochi 3 to finish up
