Need some real GAF impressions on what happens in this game after you die and how far back you're set and what progression you lose.....if it's anything like Returnal, i'm not at all interested.

You lose your proficiency level and any artifacts and upgrades you found, but you keep the Lucenite you gained which is used on the skill tree to purchase permanent attribute upgrades, proficiency level increases, etc.

Biome and boss. But if you fail you obtain currency to keep permanently upgrading yourself like your health bar etc.

Aside from the true final boss I either first or second tried ever boss. It was piss easy compared to Returnal.

Completed the final final final boss. The worst narrative of all time. Who green lit this shit? Is this the same writer as Returnal? There's no fucking way it is.

Last night it was a 7.5/10 but after completing it I'd say it's a 6/10. Returnal and hades 2 shit all over this game.

Possibly the biggest disappointment of the gen.

I'll mull it over a bit before finalizing my thoughts.

lol Returnal didnt have a story. its that classic bullshit souls style story with no real cutscenes until the very end, and just a bizarre ending that has nothing to do with anything.

this game has actual characters, dialogue, acting, and an actual plot. it could be the worst story ever told and still be better than the garbage that was returnal. i got the full ending and i still have no fucking idea wtf that game was about.

Please no, I hope its not true because this will turn me off from buying the game. And i also heard there is a rumored binary character with pronouns they/them. I never like leftist and woke agendas push in games. It is very dissapointing on what Sony is doing to there games this days allowing leftist and woke agenda be forces and push in there games. If thats how this goes to this game, then its a no buy for me. Saves me money.

Idk if they ever show that second character.

Kiira I think is the name? Game seems to suggest him and Nitya have a falling out. He's a drinker and rage boy. She accepts a job to leave him. She supposedly cheats or fucks after the leave his buddy Sebastian. He flips shit and throws him out the window to kill him. On new planet she either turns into a lesbian or it's a construct she makes to be happy and get over him.

The story made about as much sense as sticking your dick in a bag full of vipers.

And to the poster above shitting on Returnal story you're out of your mind. The DLC even expands and wraps it up perfectly. Story was aces.

Played for a couple of hours, really enjoying it so far. Beat the first biome, it looks pretty fantastic even on base PS5, and the haptics make the first pistol feel like you're firing a fucking cannon.

As much as I loved Returnal, not having back to back biomes is a welcome change. Although the game gave you shortcuts I always felt compelled to complete each stage to get better weapons, artifacts, and health upgrades - so it was quite a pisser to get all the way through without picking up any extra logs or cyphers.

I only had four runs on the first biome but the frequency it's dropping new audio-logs suggests the completionists are going to have a much easier time of it.
 
Hoping it's overblown or out of context. Like a certain famous line from Alan Wake 2 that people misrepresented.

Anyway, I've beaten the first boss. Kind of stunk that you lose your level ups because the game tells you to teleport to the next area.

Thought it would reset every time you switch biomes, but thankfully you can still choose to do the preceding one and keep your weapons and stuff.

If it is him he delivered a poor performance compared to Selene. I liked Stack a lot though. Wish he got more screen time in game.

Ok. So you're saying, just my dumb dumb brain to have clarity; do biome 1 again and go straight into biome 2 VS just teleporting straight into biome 2 even though you can?

True. I enjoyed bf6, crimson, re9 and pragmata. The only exclusives with no agenda push are astrobot and gt7 which I bought. I also bought Stellar blade and death stranding but this are not ps exclusives anymore. Sony california head quarters have been a plague of woke and dei to Sony 1st and 2nd party.

My friend finished this yesterday told me the story. I do not have a PS5 and as this will not come to PC anymore, I don't care lol.

Good information in here that I didn't know about:



Some tips from that video:
-Melee attack has shield properties and can build up the power gauge like shield does.
-That same melee attack can protect against yellow (corruption) projectiles.
-Hold down dash/dodge and you can sprint.
-Redraws let you remove artifacts in the menu.
-Weapons scale with your attributes (resilience/command/drive), and the right-arrows on the weapon screen indicate how much they scale.

Returnal had a pretty decent story told in a Silent Hill 2-esque way. To say it has nothing to do with anything is completely wrong. I'd go back and examine it again.

Well, Harry Krueger left after Returnal and that game was his passion project like Demon's Souls was Miyazaki's. He even said so. Saros is Housemarque doing their best Returnal attempt without that game's creative director. That's the answer.

I love esoteric stories in video games. The vast majority of games have mediocre writing with uninteresting/stereotypical characters. It has gotten better, but the writing is still at the level of straight to DVD movies for most games

I would much prefer vague story telling, especially in linear action games, like Returnal. I don't need a story narrative with hours of cut scenes trying to make sense of the absurdity of the gameplay loop. Let the game speak through visual world building. That is what makes games like Elden Ring so unique

There is nothing worse than being force fed a terribly written narrative every 10min. Practically every Ubisoft game is guilty of this. So is Horizon Forbidden West
