Has there been any work on when Yume Robo will be out? It has to be almost done, by now.

I've been thinking Perfect Blue. It's the only one of his that I've seen, but it was a very long time ago.

Grimmy said:Just because it was in Venice Competition doesn't mean Marco thinks he's a master. Plus, this is the man who put the abysmal English-language TETSUO in competition last year :lol I'll withhold my personal opinions about Marco since it's irrelevant to this thread, but just because one guy thinks so doesn't mean the rest of the world has to agree. And I've been to his festival a number of times.
I'll reiterate that I do admire Kon's works, but it's a shame that he never managed to make that one masterpiece which will lift him above most of his compatriots.

As others have said, Millenium Actress is a masterpiece too, some would consider Perfect Blue a masterpiece (ask Aronofsky), if you don't think he made a masterpiece, that's your opinion.
Well actually the post you are replying to said you didn't have to do that.Grimmy said:But I already said many times that I deeply admire and respect Kon and his works. Isn't that enough? Why do I have to follow everyone else and declare his works masterpieces just because he passed away? I enjoyed them - and that's already more than what I can say about 90% of filmmakers.
I can't connect to that link, can you say more about what he wrote? And about the other recent things? Can't say I can read Japanese and translators kinda suck.Erigu said:Kon left a note...
Apparently, it was pancreatic cancer. He learned about it back in May and was told he had six months left to live at most.
The whole thing is freaking heartbreaking, and so are some of his recent comments on his site, in retrospect...
His wife said:Satoshi Kon passed away due to pancreatic cancer on August 24 at 6:20 a.m. He was 46.
His funeral service will be held for family members only.
We are respectfully and deeply grateful for your kindness during his lifetime.
