SCEE trademarks PANOPTICON

November 2012 Rumor

The key is the Omniviewer, a thin, lite and slick head mounted autostereoscopic display that can track the users head and present a 360 image view with semi transparent AMOLED screens. This can turn any TV into a 3D TV, as well as add extra augmented reality information outside of the TV screen.

Yes!! One of my all time fav prog metal bands and their best album will see video game form!!

Pfft I raise you a slightly less well known - but no less awesome - black/folk metal band :p

Between the two bands, and more importantly the actual meaning of the word Panopticon, whatever this actually is from Sony strikes me with an overall feeling of oppressiveness.

Eyetoy only tracks 2D motion and requires a wand. They are different devices.

Pretty sure the Eyetoy released for the PS2 does motion tracking using only the hands. Now you might be thinking of the Playstation Eye. I can see where you could get confused.

It's an interactive novel where you discuss post-structuralism with an AI Michel Foucault. I can't wait for the animated GIFs to spam GAF.
I'd buy that. I'd also buy a Foucault's Prison Architect.

BRB gonna license a complete product line. Foucault is the new Tom Clancy.
never thought I'd EVER write that

I thought about the BC dongle, i don't know why. "Seeing everything" reminded me of playing every game.

But going back the leaks threads, i remember the onmiviewer thing and how much shit the guy took for bringing this up on the thread.

Regardless of whether this is related to it, I thought of more Patapon.

Thus there will be more Patapon.

So Panopticon is a Decepticon.
Or Sony's version of Gaikai to play your PS1/PS2/PS3/PS4/PSP/PSV/Minis/PSM games purchased in PSN everywhere through streaming.

So, a SCEE trademark and Yoshida's recent visit to London and subsequent tweet refering to Oculus Rift. Hmm...

To laugh at it maybe, because they already have 2 of them in the market. Make sure that Sony will release a cheaper and better VR helmet than Oculus Rift for PS4, but I'd say that in mid gen, not now.

Am I the only one hoping for a Sony & Oculus Rift partnership? The OR guy said he was in some top secret talks at CES.

Imagine a Move ball mounted to the headset, and move controller in hand. The console would then have your head and hand mapped in 3D. Held objects in game would have realistic relation to your head. It would be motion gaming taken to the next immersive level.

If this is Sonys inferior and more expensive take on OR, then meh. Feb 20 cant come soon enough.

♫ PATA PATA PANOPTICON~♫

First thing I thought of when coming into this thread.

Probably something to do with Sony's cameras for PS4? I doubt it's a VR thing like the Rift though it would be cool to see Sony do something like that for the PS4.

This is my dream come true. Day one preorder if this is the case.

so that's what they will call their Miiverse. interesting!

Bah, beaten to it. Although, I'll have to admit, Miiverse is such a good idea it almost deserves to be ripped off (and come to think of it, Steam kinda sorta beat Nintendo to the punch).

Their implementation of VR is nothing like the occulus rift.
