School Shooting at Elementary School in Connecticut [27+ dead including 20+ children]

Just thinking that some of the parents already had their childrens gifts bought for Christmas makes me sad as fuck.

This does make me sad thinking about. I just think of them like holding on to the unwrapped gifts for a long time dwelling on it. I hate when stuff like this happens

Poor Taste:
Can't they take it back if they still have the recites?

I get the killing of the parents, and the adults.

But 20 kids? Kindergartners even. Fucking why?

Psychotic.

Wow I just heard about it from a friend as we were studying for our final :( that is worse then I imagined it being.

If Ryan is completely innocent, he's going to be facing things no man should ever face. He's going to be falsely accused by other for the rest of his life with the genocide of his family and 20 elementary school children because of all the media speculations that linked him to the murder.
The world has gotten faster through technology...but the human stood still.
There is no turning around anymore. :(
.

Really great posts.

I am surprised CNN hasn't brought in Ja Rule to make sense of all of this right now.

Might actually make more sense than that dumbass douche Dr.Drew.

Here'a transcript of the President's remarks from earlier today.

THE PRESIDENT: This afternoon, I spoke with Governor Malloy and FBI Director Mueller. I offered Governor Malloy my condolences on behalf of the nation, and made it clear he will have every single resource that he needs to investigate this heinous crime, care for the victims, counsel their families.

We’ve endured too many of these tragedies in the past few years. And each time I learn the news I react not as a President, but as anybody else would -- as a parent. And that was especially true today. I know there’s not a parent in America who doesn’t feel the same overwhelming grief that I do.

The majority of those who died today were children -- beautiful little kids between the ages of 5 and 10 years old. They had their entire lives ahead of them -- birthdays, graduations, weddings, kids of their own. Among the fallen were also teachers -- men and women who devoted their lives to helping our children fulfill their dreams.

So our hearts are broken today -- for the parents and grandparents, sisters and brothers of these little children, and for the families of the adults who were lost. Our hearts are broken for the parents of the survivors as well, for as blessed as they are to have their children home tonight, they know that their children’s innocence has been torn away from them too early, and there are no words that will ease their pain.

As a country, we have been through this too many times. Whether it’s an elementary school in Newtown, or a shopping mall in Oregon, or a temple in Wisconsin, or a movie theater in Aurora, or a street corner in Chicago -- these neighborhoods are our neighborhoods, and these children are our children. And we're going to have to come together and take meaningful action to prevent more tragedies like this, regardless of the politics.

This evening, Michelle and I will do what I know every parent in America will do, which is hug our children a little tighter and we’ll tell them that we love them, and we’ll remind each other how deeply we love one another. But there are families in Connecticut who cannot do that tonight. And they need all of us right now. In the hard days to come, that community needs us to be at our best as Americans. And I will do everything in my power as President to help.

Because while nothing can fill the space of a lost child or loved one, all of us can extend a hand to those in need -- to remind them that we are there for them, that we are praying for them, that the love they felt for those they lost endures not just in their memories but also in ours.

May God bless the memory of the victims and, in the words of Scripture, heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds.

Just for anybody who might have missed it.

jesus christ fox news radio is saying all kinds of dumbass shit.

First they had a guy call in and he seemed to be warming up to gun control which was fine but then he decided to go racist and say "cuz I live in a black neighboorhood and when I see some of these gangbangers Im scared for my life cuz they will kill me without thinking twice"

then when too many people started bringing up gun control they decided to find some (fake) callers who talk about the benefits of concealed carry

He was at work and on facebook?

He could had plan it with his brother and be intellectually behind it.

Im not advocating to jump to conclusions, but when a whole family is murdered and there's only one survivor, the chances the survivor is the killer are incredibly high, is something policemen and criminologists have known for decades.

Let's just wait to get more info anyway, there's no point on speculating with the little info we have now.

Initially there was talk of some accomplice - is that still being considered or was it bullshit?

I think it's bullshit now, at the time the news said it was some guy who was found in the woods nearby with camoflauge but since it hasn't been mentioned again I'm assuming it was someone in the wrong place at the wrong time with no connection. Maybe he was bird watching or something lol.

It's what the third press conference and the press pool is still asking questions the Lt. already answered an hour ago? Police again saying they won't ID shooter or weapons used yet, but the major news networks are reporting ID's as fact. No one asking who the person in custody is/why he's in custody. It's like amateur hour. I'd reccomend relying on the local papers there or news stations or AP, since they at least probably have working relationships with authorities and won't fuck up so deliberately or might have actual info.

You get the killing of the adults? No. That doesn't make sense either, regardless of age.

An adult poses a threat, even unarmed to some degree.

How much of as threat is a 6 year old child? Thats what I don't understand. I can't even comprehend the thought processes required for that action. Then again the shooter appears to be mentally ill, so thats a lost cause anyway.

As the guardian of a child that goes to a school way out in the middle of nowhere, this is a nightmare story. I talked to him and he told me they have lockdown drills. Jesus.

Someone on NBC news said that if he was angry at his mother, he might see the lives she touched in those students as an extension of her and that's why he targeted them...

Perhaps you didn't notice the words accurate and sorted out in my post. I'm going to assume so.

Actually I read your post. You are fairly naive if you think the "news" on neogaf will be any better "sorted" or "accurate" than what's being said by the MSM. Apparently you haven't been reading this thread.

News reported the killer was named Ryan Lanza

Someone posted his facebook

His profile picture was shared 15,000 times stating he was a murderer

He posted on facebook he was not the killer and was at work

GAF went mad

News media crawled back

Turns out his brother Adam Lanza was the shooter, and probably using Ryan's ID

A Ryan Lanza was arrested by the police

Turned out to be the guy from Facebook after all

Is this really the case? Wow :/

Yeah, so I guess he came home from work to find out he was actually involved in this tragedy, just not how people thought.

Or was he actually involved? Im gonna guess they are arresting him just to be safe for the moment.

Yeah, I'm guessing the police are questioning him because his younger brother had his ID.

So his younger brother, Adam, killed his Mom and Dad, but spared his older brother Ryan... hmmm.

his older brother was at work

Christ, my husband posted something a bit flippant about how people are sharing 'this is cause God isn't in school' anymore, and how any God that allows stuff like this to happen just cause he's bitter isn't the god for him, ect, and his own mother is going to fucking town on him. "I'm so ashamed you are my son, come to Jesus, blah blah." Fuck.

This shit.

Edit: Oh, and "At least those kids are in God's arms now, you aren't!" THE FUCK.

They started doing that in my high school during Colombine. Nobody took it seriously but we were all idiot high schoolers. If you were caught in the hallway during a lockdown you got into some serious trouble. I had no idea they were doing this in gradeschools too. Shit has gotten real :(

So since an adult has the potential to harm you, it's understandable why you'd kill them? You're making so little sense, it's quite strange to find that your sentences are coherent.

No, but I can reason out why someone would want to kill their parents, or kill someone trying to stop them.

I can't reason out why execute an entire classroom. Maybe thats a good thing. Means you're still sane.

But executing everyone in a room where there are no kids, that's understandable?

I wouldn't even try to instigate anything of the sort after this event regardless of which way I feel about God, seems very tasteless.

Just a stupid question. How do you know they're fake? I'm not familiar with fox news, I hear my friends say how bad they are and heard a few amazing quotes from them.

In all honesty it sounds like sarcasm when I read that back to myself but it isn't.

People in this thread need to calm down a little. I know what happened us fucked up but no need to start going crazy.i

Of course that poster doesn't think killing adults it's ok but you understand. We've heard horrible stories of adults being killed sadly were so sentized to daily violence. Killing kids is on a whole other level of insanity hence the reactions to this story.

How do these families go on? Jesus

What hits me the most (as a parent) is that you kiss your kids goodbye, wish them well in school, and can't wait to see them when you get back home from work. This is difficult to understand. These young kids are never coming back home. There will be unopened Christmas gifts. My heart is heavy and my thoughts and prayers to all the families affected.

He meant usually people who go ape shit blame it on adults who did x y z or were responsible for the killers rage in some way. Where as children aren't capable of doing anything that would justify blowback or 'revenge'.

I wouldn't even try to instigate anything of the sort after this event regardless of which way I feel about God, seems very tasteless.

He was just commenting on all the facebook posts decrying the lack of prayer in school as the cause for the shooting. But yeah, apparently he should have kept his mouth shut, since it appears his own mother is about to disown him over it.

Religious people on my fb are just saying pray for the families - I'm fine with that.

I honestly want to understand why people do such things. Not all of them are sociopathic, so... why? At least then I'll have something to point to and understand. Otherwise it's just...

But it's obviously just a random killing spree, with the possible exception of the first target.
