Scott Adams tries to troll science

http://dilbert.com/strip/2017-05-14

If you don't want to click it's a strip where Scott has a climate scientist say words that a climate scientist wouldn't say so there can be a punch line.

It is a shame he expanded from trolling people on twitter to trolling people via his strip. I feel bad for buying a Dilbert calendar many years ago.

The blinkered selfishness displayed by select members of the human race in view of clear and irrefutable evidence never fails to disappoint me.
I despise this trend of challenging objective science and the blanket of protection the people that engage in this behaviour are given.
There's no 'open mindedness', no 'different perspective'. Climate change is real and it's really, really dangerous.

Maybe it's just me, but I always thought the point of Dilbert was the main character was as stupid as the bosses he worked for. So of course he'll talk shit about science.

Only likeable character in Dilbert was the rat anyway.

Scott Adams has some very hot takes;

If you have a round peg that doesn’t fit in a square hole, do you blame the peg or the hole? You probably blame neither. We don’t assign blame to inanimate objects. But you might have some questions about the person who provided you with these mismatched items and set you up to fail.

If a lion and a zebra show up at the same watering hole, and the lion kills the zebra, whose fault is that? Maybe you say the lion is at fault for doing the killing. Maybe you say the zebra should have chosen a safer watering hole. But in the end, you probably conclude that both animals acted according to their natures, so no one is to blame. However, if this is your local zoo, you might have some questions about who put the lions with the zebras in the same habitat.

Now consider human males. No doubt you have noticed an alarming trend in the news. Powerful men have been behaving badly, e.g. tweeting, raping, cheating, and being offensive to just about everyone in the entire world. The current view of such things is that the men are to blame for their own bad behavior. That seems right. Obviously we shouldn’t blame the victims. I think we all agree on that point. Blame and shame are society’s tools for keeping things under control.

The part that interests me is that society is organized in such a way that the natural instincts of men are shameful and criminal while the natural instincts of women are mostly legal and acceptable. In other words, men are born as round pegs in a society full of square holes. Whose fault is that? Do you blame the baby who didn’t ask to be born male? Or do you blame the society that brought him into the world, all round-pegged and turgid, and said, “Here’s your square hole”?

Well ok then

This is the same person who argued that the best strategy for men was to treat women the same as children and the mentally handicapped:
The reality is that women are treated differently by society for exactly the same reason that children and the mentally handicapped are treated differently. It’s just easier this way for everyone. You don’t argue with a four-year old about why he shouldn’t eat candy for dinner. You don’t punch a mentally handicapped guy even if he punches you first. And you don’t argue when a women tells you she’s only making 80 cents to your dollar. It’s the path of least resistance. You save your energy for more important battles.

Yeah I saw this one and just kind of rolled my eyes ... it's become more apparent that the characters in his strip are no longer jokes at least some of the time either. Based on his blog bullshit , he see's himself as Dilbert any time Dilberts smart and no one cares. Liberals are all Wally and most women are represented in his mind by Alice.

His divorce really destroyed his psyche.

I remember reading a profile on Adams a very long time ago where he had apparently become psychosomatically mute for years but then gradually willed his voice back. Or something. Anyway my point is he's a strange bird.

Well ok then

A take so hot it explains global warming

As a man I certainly did not come into this world with the natural instinct to rape and do other terrible things. What the hell.

Oh Jesus.

Yeah there is a lot to unpack. Someone who views men's sexual gratification as a zero sum game against female consent akin to a lion needing to eat a zebra to survive is probably not very well adjusted.

I also find it fascinating that he acknowledges there's a societal problem but rather than diagnose the root of the problem, he just throws up his hands and seems to treat anthropology like some mysterious outside force we can't fix or alter. Who knows how our society got the way it did.

Almost made a thread about this myself. I don't know why I keep reading sunday comics, its 90% trash. Frazz and Mutts keep me going I guess.

Scott Adams once spent months on the Scott Adams message boards under a false account posting how great Scott Adams was. Until he was found out.
