Scumbags Harass Woman For Working On Mass Effect: Andromeda's Animations

You're assuming they have jobs and aren't just lifelong NEETs.

The sad thing is that many of these vile beings are actually working in positions considered pretty good jobs in the tech field with decent pays. Not the majorty for sure, but not only a fraction either. I've come across the GG types who have higher education in IT fields and went on to decent jobs. That's the tragedy of it. If they at least were all just in their own apartments 24/7 they couldn't take that toxicity with them into their workplaces and make those places hostile as well.

Fuck this, this isn't accountability, at all. At best we can only infer what happened behind the scenes, we shouldn't be holding individuals accountable at all, that's not how game development works. It's a huge collaborative effort.

So the whole development team and the higher up's are at fault? gotcha.

Pathetic.

Not the tweets, these posts. It's almost comical reading post after post, "Oh, the horror!"

Like you're surprised? And then everyone has to chime in a quick condolences.

Does your post have any point? You don't think the harassment was pathetic? We can't show a little empathy? We suppose to be silent about this?

And even then you don't need to hold someone accountable even as a nebulous whole because some animations in a game are janky. You express your displeasure like fans of all entertainment mediums do.

You don't give them your money.

whose burner this be?

What? You think it's somehow noble for us to sit on a forum and demand "accountability" from specific people in an industry most of us have no involvement in?

Next time you produce something at work, see how you'd like for people on internet forums to evaluate your performance.

Earlier today on one of the ME:A youtube videos, one of the comments was like "SJWs are responsible for this game being bad! They hired for the sake of diversity and political correctness and not talent, so that's why this game looks so bad!" and I dismissed it because it was not only the dumbest shit I have read all month, but complete lunacy. But I at least thought it was just an isolated cause.

This... fucking yikes.

who could have seen a 24/7 hatestorm against a bioware game turning into a witch hunt against a woman

i mean, who could have possibly seen this coming

I asked this in the other thread but what causes bioware games to attract crazies? Someone answered that games fandoms suffer from this but between the hepler death threats, the years-long meltdown over the ME3 ending and now "animationgate" amongst dozens of other, smaller incidents there's a pretty clear pattern of disturbing behavior that seems particular to bioware games.

Is it the RPG mechanics? The fact that you can have sex with characters in their games? I'm baffled.

Pathetic.

This is a really shitty attempt to handwave and normalize this kind of situation.

Yeah that's pretty fucked up. Killing anomnity would solve this.

Actually wouldn't need killing anomnity. Would just mean if people are pricks they get shown as pricks.

People need to grow out of this line of thinking, too. Plenty of people do this under their real name via Facebook or Twitter. Hell, one could make the argument that folks like Breitbart make a professional career out of trying to hurt others to improve their position while using their real names.

Honestly, this kind of stuff is pretty much par for the course on many other gaming message boards. Getting away from it as best I can while still being able to actually discuss relevant game material and news is pretty much the sole reason I joined this forum. The gaming landscape is basically a toxic hellhole, and I wouldn't for one second associate or talk to any of these people in person.

That doesn't mean you can condone them for doing shithead things.

I don't know where you found 'shock' in what I wrote, but this isn't shocking to me in the slightest.

We collectively need to stop pretending this is just some small segment of gaming. It's all over the place, happens routinely and is only getting more and more mainstream and emboldened.

'Idiot' is too kind a word to describe these people.

Sorry, bad wording. But i don't think there is a closed gaming community, there is no political group of gamers, it's a hobby which millions of different people from all backgrounds have.. If there is shitstorm about a movie you can't blame the shitstorm on moviefans. No one would say that moviefans have a problem.

But you are right with the "idiot" thing ;)

It's interesting to see people talking about the gaming community and "progress".

This is to do with cult mentality, the empowerment degenerates feel when in a group, coupled with anonymity. It's prevalent everywhere, from politics, to the idolatry of celebrity, religion......everywhere.

These people on display here are sub-human trash. Whilst their ire is seemingly Andromeda, in reality, this is an impotent person/s abusing and harassing someone because they think they can get away with it. The subject matter is irrelevant.

Not surprised. I saw some one on Reddit claim the characters of mass effect were ugly cause they were trying to be too PC (he was trying to make horizon look good by saying horizon did it right by missing her realistic but not butt ugly). It's s conspiracy some gamers have about SJWs ruining their games.

Why? Get out if it bothers you so much. It should be allowed period.
That Ralph guy is an "interesting" fellow... Sad that people do this over animations in a game. :(
Is it that reporter on Twitter doing his best to prove that she lied? He's really out to get her. Super weird in my opinion.

Stop normalizing this behavior.

It already is normal. It's not video game specific, it's not even internet specific. It''s humanity. Yes, it would be nice to live in a world where nobody said anything mean ever but that's not how things are, and it never will be.

Yep, shitheads on the internet do shithead things.

They don't. That's why they are such miserable, unhappy fucking losers in the first place.

It already is normal. It's not video game specific, it's not even internet specific. It''s humanity. Yes, it would be nice to live in a world where nobody said anything mean ever but that's not how things are, and it never will be.

So, what do you want to talk about then? This is a discussion board.

So the whole development team and the higher up's are at fault? gotcha.
Why don't you fucking start a thread specifically about who to blame for ME:A, (assuming it's a bad game in the first place), and stop shitting up this one with your faux concern about accountability.

And even then you don't need to hold someone accountable even as a nebulous whole because some animations in a game are janky. You express your displeasure like fans of all entertainment mediums do.

You don't give them your money.
Exactly.

It's insane once you become acutely aware of misogyny/sexism how apparent it is. Like what in the world is wrong with these people? Are you that utterly pathetic and moronic to attack a person because of some alleged involvement in a game? Like, fuck you.

Or we don't blame anybody because it's an entertainment product.

Uhhh why? Might as well shut down all criticisms then if you put it that way.

It's okay to voice your displeasure towards a product you fork your hard-earned money, you know, but only if you do it in a rational and logical manner, unlike these people.

Pretty much why I originally came here. You don't totally escape it here but at least here people are willing to call people on their shit and you don't feel like you are the lone voice if you say something. And it is much better on this forum.

There is a difference between criticism of a product and blame of someone for said product not meeting your subjective standards.

Criticism is not inherently blaming something or someone for something. You don't blame someone because you have them your money and they didn't meet your expectations. That's like blaming a sports team if they didn't win when you went to a game. As if them losing was something that deserved culpability.

This goes beyond just being "mean", this is straight up misogyny. Why are you going out your way to excuse this? Good lord.

You'd think as a species we'd mature the fuck up from the playground days of Nintendo vs Sega, but add 20 years and give them the Internet and we get this shit, the more things change the more they stay the same.

Excuse me while I roll my eyes at your dumb damn post.

If you have a problem with the game you say your peace in a review, blog, forum, tweet, whatever and you peace out. You DO NOT go after someone that worked on the game and confront them with some snarky asshole attitude. Unless said person or company wants feedback you respond to them KINDLY and EARNEST about the problems, otherwise shut the fuck up. Too many people act like they need go after someone like they committed murder and are trying to avenge something.

Then why don't we make it not normal by showing how many people condemn this behavior? Not act like we should just ignore it. It won't able if we just say that's how it is and bitch at people who dare to point out its shiftiness.

Edit: and this guy is an example of still seeing it on this forum. But to be fair this is milder than what you see elsewhere.

This isn't something "mean", this is abuse. You can't just chalk this kind of behaviour up to humans being humans. That's bullshit and only serves to excuse this kind of behaviour. Be better.
