Sega Ages Vol 32: Phantasy Star Complete Collection (PS2)

English versions of I-IV only, before people freak out. Not the text adventure stuff.

I meant english versions for everything that exists. Sega Ages Collections are not really about new content but compiling every version of the game that exists with as perfect emulation as possible, and this includes overseas versions. :)

I was pretty sure it would have the English versions. It's nice to have confirmation.

I do hope they let you select FM sound in the English version of PS1, although now that PS1 has a non-robotspeak Japanese mode, I'll probably just use that instead.

Sorry but I'm still new to the Phantasy Star series as I grew up with Final Fantasy. If I already have Phantasy Star Collection for the GBA (which I believe has the first 3) and the Sega Genesis Collection (which has PS II,III & IV) is there any benefit to importing this, esp. since the text adventure, which I know nothing about, won't have an English version?

Besides the bug that I hear about on game saves for the GBA version of PSI, is there anything wrong with the versions that I have? I'd like to get into this series and see what I was missing but I'm scared about the length as I have no idea what I'd be getting into. I'm currently still playing FF12 and I don't have the patience for the long RPGs like I used to.

This version will have a lot of extras and improvements, especially to Phantasy Star 2. From what I know, the GBA Phantasy Star thing is actually pretty crappy, and there are emulation problems in the Sega Genesis Collection... this Sega Ages collection is guaranteed to have perfect emulation, as well as both language versions of the main games. There are also difficulty selectors for 1-4, which could theoretically add some nice replay value. I'm really interested in seeing how that will turn out.

Thanks. I will have to wait and see how this turns out.

Hmm, without this being region-free it's difficult to justify getting this since I want to play this on my PS3. I still have two old PS2s, maybe I can mod one to play this. Dang Sega, release a US version and get going on PSV!

*sigh* Have beaten the PSes on the GBA, will prolly get PS2 for VC and now will get this for ps2. How many times can I beat these games? PS fanboyism at it's best.

and I love how Chaz is looking more and more feminine with each new official art. D:

I will never get rid of my import-capable PS2 because of the Monster World Complete Collection.

The best compilation EVER.
I still need to get that. Also this:

the the remakes of Phantasy Star and Phantasy Star II for PlayStation2 were more or less of PlayStation1 quality. I'd like to see SEGA do a high-quality, high budget remake of the first Phantasy Star on PS3. pushing the PS3 as hard as Sega pushed the Mark III / SMS in 1987 with the original. Flesh out the story. Use a more serious, style of artwork. Make it seem like you're really adventuring across 3 planets of the Algol solar system. Have Lassic really seem like Super-Tyrant King and make Dark Falz / Dark Force seem like the darkest, scariest, most vile demon/beast ever created for a game.

I would rather see a GOOD remake of PS (if not a PSV) than the next evolution of PSO and PSU which were PS in name only.

GET OUT OF HERE.

You are not a true Phantasy Star fan.

nice to know, but i'm tired of sega continuously releasing the shitty, outdated translations of PS1, 2, 3. they need to retranslate those games from scratch, like square did for FF1/4/5. 8/16-bit era translations are unacceptable except for a select few (which includes PS4. if they would just fix the names of the characters i think it would be perfect. even without that, it's acceptable.)

Hot! March 27 is too far away...
Oh shits.

I'm a HUGE fan of the first three games (well, first and second, third is okay). I never played the fourth, but have been considering tracking it down.

1) My SMS and copy of the orignal were stolen years ago
2) My Genesis copy of the second got squished in a move. DC emulated version I'm playing now sucks.
3) Genesis stopped working anyways, so I can't play the 3rd one if I want to.

If the PS2 drops to $100, this would actually be a very tempting import for me.

And March 27th is my birthday.

It's not a US release though. It's a compilation of all previously existing versions of PS1-4 in as accurate a manner as possible with as many optional tweaks, additional galleries, etc for collectors.

I would care more about this i the Sega Genesis Collection didn't already have most of the PS games on it, what's it missing, just 4?

It's missing 1, and all of the Phantasy Star 2 character adventure games, and then the little extra features added in this like the difficulty selector and (awesome) Phantasy Star 2 enhancements.

Also this is the first Sega Ages RPG collection that the games are all in English? I know they released a Dragon Force collection,b ut both of those games are only in Japanese right?

Lots of the later Sega Ages games have English versions. At the very least, Gunstar Heroes Treasure Box and Monster World Collection have overseas versions on them.

Dragon Force wasn't a collection, it's just Dragon Force. Single title Sega Ages titles don't have overseas versions. The Collections all do. There are no other RPG Collections other than this. If they ever do a Shining Force Collection, I'm sure it'll have the english versions of SF1 and 2 too.

Modding your PS2 isn't dangerous or the end of the world or whatever. There are tons of posts like this in every single thread about a Japanese PS2 game. You'd kinda think more people would get a swap lid or something.
What about the average folk like enjoyed Phantasy Star 2 that don't speak japanese? WHAT HAVE YOU TO SAY TO THEM?

Count me in when this comes out. Thinking about it now, i only completed each Phantasy Star once with the exception of 3, which for some god forsaken reason I completed four times to get all the endings.
