SEGA teases new project on Japanese site : "Project Ringo"

I came in here with the thought that perhaps Yukio Futatsugi was being published by Sega again, but after seeing that teaser it is definitely not something he'd be doing.

About time he gets his due!!

Song's already present in the flash version @ the teaser website, unless you have issues with your flash player...

Must be, odd.

Edit: Got to work now! Maybe it was due to me having my Windows Media Player open. Even though the player wasn't playing anything. Hmm.

Does'nt ringo mean apple or something in japanese?

Yep! And that's what the girl is flipping, and the apple appears in that math equation ad as well.

Also, I'm wondering about the music. It doesn't sound so low-bit, it sounds pretty clear. Would that be any possible hint? Like it may not be for DS, or even the iPhone? The iPhone isn't that good in specs isn't it? I hardly pay attention to it so I wouldn't know, but the games I've seen around seem like between DS and PSP in average quality.

I'm sure to be proven wrong. :P

But also, I notice that the math version of the ad at least seems to move at 60 frames, plus the apple looks like it's moving in 3D, but it's purely gray so it looks 2D. So it might be CGI?

I'm just tossing out guesses based on what I'm seeing.

I think from now on Sega should get the standard "Fox is adapting a Comic book" response.

Fuck you Sega.

Wait, Fuu? Where the heck have you been??
Doing a bunch of stuff since new year, internet was used mostly to talk to friends and family. I'm now able to come back to GAF (also known as work procrastination).

OK, nice. Welcome back!

Ringo is on the Puyo page!

I checked some of their other websites like Sonic Channel and their Platinum Games page for example, nada, so they're not advertising it wherever they can.

I am good. :P But Chao also caught the resemblance too. :P

24^2-47*7 = 247
4(24+38)-1 = 247
777-530 = 247

"What's mean 247?"

In Japan they like wordplay on numbers (goroawase) and after fiddling around a bit I came to the conclusion that it could be read as Puyo 7.

This is not the first time they've puns like that for the Puyo Puyo series.

ぷよぷよ通 is read as Puyo Puyo Tsuu - which sounds like Puyo Puyo 2.

The third game is called ぷよぷよSUN where SUN sounds like "san", the japanese word for three.

The fourth part is called ぷよぷよ〜ん where they've added an n after yo. "yon" means four.

The fiftth part in the series is called Puyo Puyo Fever where フィーバー (Fever) can be read as Fiver.

Then there's Fever 2 - which I'm not sure if they ever used a pun for, but I guess that's the 6th part in the series, which leaves:

247... Puyo 7.

Also, the character looks like something out of Puyo Puyo Fever - like someone already mentioned in the thread.

What do I win?

I'm just going to go out on a limb and say it means 24/7, which would suggest some online capabilities, possibly with Wii's oft overlooked Wii Connect 24.

Also, perhaps the engrish of "What's Mean 247?" has a hint within it, since I know Sega of Japan, does, in fact, have a grasp of the english language.

That would only work if you left out Puyo15th.

The are obviously way more than 6 puyo puyo games, I don't know if puyo puyo fever 2 is considered the 6th mainline game - maybe puyo puyo 15th anniversary is the 6th game - though it feels more like an anniversary type collection more than a sequel to me.

I don't have all the answers, I merely pointed out one possible solution to it, but I'm well aware I might aswell be way off.

We'll see.

What's mean 247?

Could be referring to 24/7 (24 hours a day, 7 days a week)

So a constantly activite, in real-time game. SHENMUE ONLINE LIVES ON

Anyway, Sega trademarked "Puyo Puyo Fever Touch" recently, so I guess it could be related to that. Too bad this ridiculously lenghty countdown won't let us find out, eh ?

The name makes little sense though, as there have already been two (or even three?) Puyo games on the DS.

Or perhaps none of them actually used the touch capabilities?

Also, I had a bad feeling the countdown wouldn't end, as the game surely would've been in this week's Famitsu if it was going to be unveiled.
