Sequels that you wish you didn't watch

I hate it when a character who worked super hard to survive one movie gets easily killed in the next one. Final Destination 2 is awesome, but killing the main character of the first movie off-screen by a falling brick was pretty dumb.

This. Then again the first movie isn't all that awesome these days either. Judge Dredd is another one.
Yeah the original Judge Dredd was really bad. And being a kid when I saw it, I had really low standards. I actually enjoyed the reboot.

JESUS CHRIST. There's a fucking ROBOCOP3??? How did I not know this? I was super into Robocop when I was a kid.

Should I watch it?

Queen of the Damned. I watched it before I read the book. Reading the book didn't help.

Daddy Day Camp. I went with my younger cousin to see it. I knew it was going to be horrible but that pile of shit went way below my expectations. I had to walk out of the theater.

Pirates of the Caribbean 2 or 3. Never bothered with 4.

I thought two was alright. Three was embarrassing.

A lot of people hate it, but I really like Robocop 3 when I was a kid and even now. Imagine my surprise when I discovered there are such things as reviews and critics and they totally trashed Robocop 3.

Now. Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection do not exist. They are figments of your imagination.

OMG watch it! What it naaao!! Then make a thread documenting you're childhood as it shattered before you eyes!
edit- Actually you might like it cuz the robot ninja dude was bad ass, and robocop can catch bullets, and fuck car doors!

I didn't watch (or plan to) watch the Resident Evil, Shrek (after 2), Superman sequels . Also, from this thread I see there are lots of unnecessary and/or terrible sequels lol. I had the misfortune to watch Spiderman 3 in theaters, what a shitfest that was. Thankfully I haven't watched many of the ones mentioned here.

Never Ending Story II. I actually didn't even watch the whole thing.

Matrix sequels.

I would also say I wish I didn't watch the current Transformer sequels but I wish I could say that about the first one as well.

Glad I didn't watch Starship Troopers sequels.

Tripple X does this in a REALLY bad way. He goes through all that and dies in the equivalent way of Superman dying from slipping on a banana peel and cracking his skull open. Also two second scene explaining it, like he was nothing.

Oh also another one to add to my list.

In my eyes, a bad "sequel" is one that makes you hate the original in retrospect. I can't think of one example where that happened. Robocop 2 (to a lesser extent) and 3 weren't great but I still love Robocop 1. The Matrix sequels were mostly terrible but the first is still great.

I just see them as bad movies and leave it at that. They don't affect me any more than any other bad movie would.

Should I watch it?

Yes. WE had to watch it so you must suffer as we did.

Godfather 3 is worth it for the ending, Batman too despite my problems with both.

The emo Peter Parker and JJJ scenes make Spiderman 3 almost worth it.

I'd say Matrix sequels, Indiana Jones 4, Die Hard 4. Hating on Lethal Weapon 4 is sacrilege. So many great moments in that film.

Blade 3.

Blade 2 was face-meltingly awesome and then they had to make that Ryan Reynolds/Parker Posey crapfest.

The transformers movies get worse with every sequel. I fully expect the next TF movie to involve a scene where Shia Lebouf has to hide from his new love interest that involves his face being smashed against John Turturro's sack while he is wearing tighty whities.

I don't understand this. I have watched Dark of the Moon a few times now and was blown away by how much I liked it. As in I really, really, liked Dark of the Moon but I see it take a beating online all the time. What's the major issue with Dark of the Moon specifically?

For me, everything about it is horrible except for the effects. The characters are cliche to the point of ridiculousness. John Malkovich and Ken Jeong take tropes to a new level with their wacky characters. Almost every character in this film was annoying and unlikeable. Shia's character apparently went nuts between RotF and DotM. This movie has no set tone and has no idea what it wants to be. The film was an hour too long and horribly paced. I could go on but I will stop here.

American Psycho 2? I'm learning about all sorts of sequels today.

I starred Mila Kunis as the killer and in the opening scene a 6-year old Mila Kunis kills Patrick Bateman. Also, Bateman has somehow become a notorious serial killer, even though the whole point of the first movie was that nobody took notice of the murders.

I remember seeing a terrible movie that pretended to be an Aliens sequel where they killed everyone but Ripley in the first minute. LOL can you imagine if that movie was really a sequel to Aliens?

Paranormal Activity 2. First one was good but was then retroactively ruined after watching the sequel. So bad it almost hurt..

Yes. I tried watching this a few weeks ago and it was so bad. Just awful! I wanted to watch the first one but Netflix took it down.

Jurassic Park 3 comes to mind.

There was a stage of my life where I had trouble sleeping. I had rented Jurassic Park 3 and tried to watch it 2 nights in a row but fell asleep. I realized I could not make it through that movie and for over a month I would put Jurassic Park 3 in and fall asleep to it every night. Absolutely god's honest truth. I don't think I ever made it through the movie once.

Who needs Ambien when you have JP3, right?

Ooof, thanks for reminding me. :/ What a letdown that movie was. It's been mentioned a bunch but I have to agree about Spider Man 3. After the ending in 2 I couldn't wait to see how 3 would play out. Then I saw it. :(

Because of this thread I just learned there were sequels to other movies that I didn't even know about. American Psycho 2? Blood Sport 2, 3 and 4?

Back to the Future 2 & 3.

Not bad movies in their own right, but their abuse of the time travel formula was so blatant that it made the original movie lose much of its luster.

Should I watch it?

I actually tried to watch it (again) last week, but the first 20 minutes are so incredibly bad I couldn't continue. That was a poor idea on my part in the first place. Who on earth thought the kid was a good idea for the movie. Everything in it screamed B-movie but I still grabbed it for a view. Stupid nostalgia.
