Coming out of the Humbe Bundle sale (Yes we have a thread for that but the announcement itself was thread worthy)

They are using the Humble Bundle as a Kickstarter of sorts to fund SS4...woot!

This is going to be amazing. I needed something like this. Again.

Bitter taste of Duke Nukem Forever and all, still not gone and I drink every night to numb the feelings of what that game did to me.

Starring Jim Raynor?

Haha yeah, no joke. Poor Sam has a freakin' rehaul between just about every game. I mean yeah, who the heck cares, but still. Started out generic as could be, and now he's just a modern generic as could be. It's funny, and it doesn't deter me from these games whatsoever.

SS3 felt dull and uninspired to me, even once I broke out of the initial stages which were clearly not intended to be there. Here's hoping SS4 is a return to form.

It did start off slow and when it got going it was just SS like we've played before. I personally love the game, but I agree that a new one has to up the stakes in terms of level variety a bit.

too much... just snarfed a little bit of beer out of my nose, thanks :)

SS3 was already basically a reimagining of TFE, so here's hoping SS4 branches back out a bit. Less cities, more madness.

heh fork parker is one of the top contributors who is the financial officer at devolver digital

day 0.

Loved the whole of SS3. Yes even the slow beginning, it gave the game a great sense of progression.

(oh but I don't like the sam in that concept art, too "top model")

I wonder where this one is going to take place, chronologically.

Also, can't fucking wait. Serious Sam 3 was badassery of the highest order.

SS3 was fucking awful, so I dunno about this.

It was ok.. but could be way better.

They need to take out the modern warfare weapons really and consider some better level design than "big square or valley with tons of enemies spawning from every direction"

I swear Sam1 had less of that stuff.

Nah. SS1 thrived on its monster arenas, while SS3 largely stuck to various flavors of corridor. SS1 just mixed it up a lot more.

YES!

Awesome news. Fantastic games.

Hoping this time will be the charm and it makes a dent in the genre so we see more similar old school, non 'realistic' and serious, pure survival madness shooters.

Great, now I want to replay Serious Sam..

Excellent. SS3's enemies and weapons make for the very best battles in the genre, and its map layouts are, well, a lot more interesting than I expected from the series.

I want to see:
- A little more environmental variety while retaining the amount of destructable cover.
- Less ability to backtrack for items or advantageous positions.
- Save-anywhere removed or relegated to "cheat" status.
- more everything

Someone alert Tain and alt, Riposte

lol, that would be one hell of an alt account

Hey now, Second encounter was Aztec and had snowy environments. Serious Sam 2 was just wacky in general.

I'm thinking more in terms of what they did with BFE, which was a great game mind you but really little more than a remake of First Encounter. Then for an extra kick in the nuts they made an expansion to BFE that was MORE SAND.
