Sessions: marijuana a "life-wrecking dependency" "slightly less awful" than heroin

Where's Gary Johnson when you need him

I take it back. Marijuana should be illegal.

Another great day in America where we're reminded our lives are in the hands of our racist out of touch 70 year old grandparents.

And 30-40 years from now, many of us will be those racist, out of touch 70 year old grandparents. My dad smoked weed by the pound, drank until he blacked out almost every weekend, and did who knows what else until he was in his early 20s. These days, he's an anti-drug, anti-immigrant, unabashed Trump supporter who would be first in line to agree with Sessions' thinking here. I bet 35 years ago he didn't think this is what he'd become, just like many of us are currently thinking 'that won't ever happen to me'.

Can someone give this little racist bitch a joint so he can mellow out and shut the hell up?

No way am I sharing my cookies with this pos.

Besides, I bet he'd take a hit than just cower in the corner wondering where he went wrong.

Everywhere, Jeff, everywhere.

I guess that's why I can vape marijuana for 6 months straight and then quit cold turkey for just as long without any problem. Yep, only slightly worse than a drug that kills thousands of people every year.

Why do people vote for someone this stupid/corrupt?

Well. Congress is equally stupid and corrupt.
Voters are just stupid.

Right-leaning independents and libertarians that voted Trump, basically closet Republicans, Trump is coming for you too. You're next in line after he gets all the minorities.

Translation: Let's do our best to continue locking up Black me for selling, buying and using weed while we hash out legalization of marijuana by largely White people in the courts.

You know the only solution:

We must transform into Super Saiyan Palm Tree Super Saiyan

I've never smoked weed in my life, but this is just fucking stupid.

Seriously, we need to to amend the constitution so that old fucks can't be in the government anymore

Uhh what?

My GF's 70 year old moms life is so wrecked. Getting high and watching basketball and British mysteries. What a terrible thing she does that's not harming anyone. What a criminal.

I remember my last marijuana freak out. I ate more pizza than my diet allowed. I was so bloated the next day. Almost as bad as heroin.

Uhh what?

I don't see any possibility for confusion here. People change, and this change is the reason why everybody saying 'the current generation will fix all of our problems when they're in charge' is bullshit. The hippies of the 1960s thought the same damn thing back in the day, and they're now the ones fucking everything up. Plenty of millennials will jump on that bandwagon 30 or 40 years from now.

In other words, fight for the change you want right now, since there's no guarantee that things are going to get better because somehow millennials (or the young in general) are infallible.

You know I hear that from old people that have become that way, but in my experience, it's because they were always that way, but hid it. I don't buy the older-become-a-bigot-conservative theory. I subscribe to the got-old-care-less-about-hiding-the-real-self theory for these assholes.

Midsommer Murders is just a gateway drug to the real shit like Poirot.

I don't necessarily agree. Many of our parents grew up and then everything went to shit--they're prime examples of the world turning people into cynical shits because they watched the "American Dream" fall apart. A lot of us grew up and everything was already shit, so we're finding new ways to band together and create something "new" on a regular basis. The idea of a career is being eschewed by the younger generation and that means we consistently change environments, which makes it really hard to be hateful and successful.

People still do, obviously, but I think younger generations are going to be less and less shitty as time goes on. Until the cycle repeats itself, at least.

Lol, he thinks that D.A.R.E. worked.

There's a reason William Weld started actively undermining the Libertarian ticket at the end of the campaign, because he realized that Johnson cannibalizing the not-Republican vote would only benefit Trump and people like Sessions.

My gf has gone way too far down that rabbit hole. You don't know the depths until you hit Rosemary and Thyme. They're gardeners that solve murders...Also, she doesn't smoke weed, but I do and that shit is way to heady for me.

Just made the mistake of arguing with people on twitter replying to a news article about this and... let me say, it was slightly less awful than heroin.

I mean America sucks in a lot of ways but at least there's an argument about legal weed. I can't see how they can go backwards in regards to canabis tbh.

Think I managed to avoid the timeline where I became a hardline conservative, thankfully.

For a long time, it felt like I was heading that way. I was transphobic, thought racism was over, all the great ignorant hits.

Then things like police corruption start catching my attention and I see how the country responds to it and it kind of downspirals into this depressing awakening. Don't think I could ever turn my back on all that now.

This, so much.

You can binge the living daylights out of weed, more than likely feel its time to stop. And just stop.

Try doing that with heroin.

Under his arguments cigarettes and alcohol should be illegal and I'll be waiting for him to come down hard on prescription pain killers.

I mean damn, if weed is only slightly less awful than heroin I might as well try sweet lady H to see what all the fuss is about; thanks Sessions for giving me the confidence to make this plunge.

Meanwhile, there's a fairly decent chance federal legalization is being drawn up right now over in the Hillary timeline.

:(

lol what

I mean I understand the awfulness of the Trump administration is getting into everybody's head, but let's not pretend that a Clinton administration (while infinitely better) would have been all puppies and rainbows.
