Damn dude, if you're into craft beer you are hitting a few cities with great communities. Good for you dude. Awesome idea benefitting a ton of people in one of the country's most prolific professions

Recommendations for my stomping grounds of St. Louis:

Top tier:

Schlafly
Perennial Artisan Ales
Urban Chestnut
4 Hands
Civil Life

Mid Tier:

Exit 6
Square One
Six Row
Kirkwood Station
Ferguson
Alpha

Bottom Tier:

Morgan Street
Trailhead
AB

I'm probably missing a few. Would also check out one of the International Taphouse locations one day, preferably the 8th because they do half off half the taps from 8pm to close. Hell PM me and ill see you there if I'm not working

Pretty good list but missing the best one IMHO http://www.2ndshiftbrewing.com and the runner up http://cathedralsquarebrewery.com/

If you are into beer and in St. Louis, just go here http://thebridgestl.com they will sort you out :)

2nd Shift is like an hour and a half outside of the city and Cathedral Square doesn't have a tasting room. Same reason I didn't include O'Fallon, Charleville, Augusta, Crown Valley, etc.

The only thing that amazes me about this plan is the fact there is no New Orleans. Nawlins is my favourite part of the country.

Been several times, and given 2 $500 tips there already. Love New Orleans, always love going back, and would love to go to Voodoo Fest this year, but time is limited and as this isn't just a list of places I want to visit, New Orleans got cut. But hey, I was just there 8 months ago so it's okay. I've personally visited 32 states already, I believe, including everything east of the Mississippi. Of those places, New Orleans is one of my favorites.

Well guys, today is the day I start this big adventure. In a few hours I'm driving to Charleston, WV to spend to days. I already have couches to sleep on in Pittsburgh and Grand Rapids, so that will help also.

Does anyone want to join me at Cedar Point on the 24th?

Seth are you still in for Saturday? Check the Pittsburgh Gaf thread for updates.

I am! I'll actually be in Pittsburgh from June 20 through June 23. I'll post something in that thread later today, to hopefully organize a dinner for some of us before the main meetup.

The first tip of the road trip went up the other day, from Charleston, WV. You can watch it here:

Ryan was an awesome guy who had just lost his mother. Later that night we hung out and had beers. He took me to some of his local spots. It was a really good night.

Yesterday I made my way up to Pittsburgh. I had a couch surfing host lined up but she disappeared (and still hasn't reappeared, in fact). After a day of searching for a new host, a friend of a friend reached out to me and offered to let me stay with he and his wife in Lawrenceville. Awesome!

They have been great hosts. He took me all around the city today, and they shared home cooked meals with me. Tonight we are all going to a summer solstice party and then I'm switching over to a Couchsurfer's place Oakland for the rest of my stay.

Tomorrow night I'm taking some GAFers with me to give a $500 tip here.

Lawrenceville is awesome, did you go to Franktuary? Burgatory?

Somehow I went to neither! Not sure how that happened but oh well.

So, my time in Pittsburgh went something like this. My Couch Surfing host vanished so on Thursday night I was stranded at Starbucks, killing time, frantically searching for somewhere to stay. Friendly NeoGAFers offered to help but at the last minute a couple in Lawrenceville offered to let me stay there, so I rolled in late that evening.

Friday I went for a walk down the river with Vijay and his dog. We went down to the "button" and walked along the river to the strip. I took some photos.

After the walk we had lunch. Vijay shared some pasta salad he'd made the day before. Then we headed out to Mt. Washington so I could get a view of the city.

Afterward we picked his wife and headed down to campus. We walked through the cathedral of learning and over to a farmer's market.

Later in the evening we went to a huge summer solstice party on a plateau in a park on the south side. It was a bit crazy, and moreso as the night wore on. With most women dressed as elves, five bonfires, and lots of drums.

As Vijay and his wife were heading to a weekend of camping the next morning, I met up with my next host, Chriss, at Bites and Brews for a beer then on to a house party before retiring for the night.

Saturday I went to Tamarind with Chriss for lunch, then mostly sat around during the afternoon. She had work and then I met up with the local NeoGAF crew at The Library and did this:

Afterward Chriss and I went to some of her friends' place and late at night (4am or so) decided it was way to hot to not have air conditioning in her apartment. So, we made a drive out to Carnegie to pick up a window unit which I installed and was sound asleep at around 7am.

Sunday saw us heading out to Raccoon Creek Park with some of her friends. That was on interesting experience. A "beach" on a lake, with some odd mix of western Pennsylvanians and sunbathers and hot dogs and...who knows. Either way, I hadn't brought anything to swim in for this part of the trip so I merely waded out in to the murky water. The rest of the day was mostly spent editing video.

Now my host has decided to join me on my adventure to Cedar Point! Then on Tuesday I'll be in Lasning, Michigan.

I made her a little dress as the lack of contrast between her skin and the white shirt was making me uncomfortable:

See it's funny as hell because one the guys that was on of my supervisors during the NYC Wizard World Comic Con is from Lexington, KY as well. I didn't ask him if he'd heard of your adventures since I'd only discovered this on Monday on Facebook. Oh well. Maybe I'll shoot him a message and ask him.

Any way fantastic pictures. I saw the last video with Pittsburgh GAF in tow. I had a good laugh when you turned your head to the camera as you told name dropped NeoGAF.

I'm gonna a good deed myself in which I'm sending a New York Comic Con volunteer a Bat Man novel that I got for free, paying for the shipping (he offered to pay it back to me), handwrote him a letter, and did a drawing of him, his wife and his baby daughter. He only knows that I'm sending him the book so I can't wait to see what happens when he gets it.

I saw you on the chicago news earlier this morning. pretty cool

Wish I'd seen that! I've been watching WGN since I was a boy. They called today and may be interested in having me in the studio when I come through Chicago next week. That would be like a dream come true.

After Pittsburgh I made my way to Cedar Point for a day. Many roller coasters were ridden. So far I've only gone through the footage from one, so here is my POV video of Mantis with some 25% slow motion during inversions:

While I'm here, the video from Lansing, MI:

Today marks exactly one year since Aaron passed away. I was home and spent most of the day with family, relaxing and having a Fosters for Aaron. Even after a year, you just keep feeling like tomorrow he will show up again. I think that's how the mind copes with it. Tomorrow I head back out, with the next stop being St. Louis.

Aaron will definitely never be forgotten. Sounded like a great guy. Thanks for all the wonderful videos. I'm enjoying all of them on youtube, it just never gets old.

What are your plans tomorrow?

If you technically mean today (Tuesday) then I have no plans. This is my "day off" so I'd like to explore the city a bit, and see whatever it is I should see. Of course, I'd also like to visit a brewery or two. I also wouldn't mind taking in a Cardinals game. I know they are in town tonight. If you want to hang out I'd definitely be up for that.

I'll be leaving the tip on Wednesday, and Inside Edition will be along for the adventure. Anyone who wants to is welcome to come along.

From Austin to Oklahoma huh? That trip on 35 might be pretty brutal as there's pretty constant construction and can backup with the smallest of accidents (not just in Austin but along the entire interstate). You'll pass the Czech Stop in West, Texas (remember the exploding plant?) which is great for a quick stop to get something baked, fried, sweet, tangy, or really whatever combination you're in the mood for.

Oh jeez, you picked my favorite pizza place in the city. Your story is also on the front page on the tribune site. Bravo. Wish I saw this earlier.

I had to! It's my favorite pizza place in the city, too. :)

Thanks for the advice. Is there a time I'd be better off making the drive? I could always leave Austin around 6pm and try to get to OKC at midnight or so? Might make the drive easier. Should avoid any rush hour high congestion time.

I know his brother died and this was his last wish and that is great. His last wish was to give a $500 tip.

Seth was able to receive $40K in donations to do this, which is an amazing showing of generosity . What does he do? Instead of just utilize this $40K, he asks for $50k more to help him travel across the country and distribute the $40k. All of which is horribly inefficient use of money.

He was somehow able to raise the money and props to him, but letÂ’s not pretend his brotherÂ’s wish was to do this megatiptour and raise money on youtube channels. Of course I canÂ’t tell people how to spend their money, but if people give this freely some schemer will take advantage.

This is true. Your original comment was inappropriate for the thread I think, but this thread makes an interesting point. However, to be fair, that extra $50,000 wasn't necessarily going to go toward charity anyway, it could have been spent on games, etc.

If you're leaving on a Friday traffic won't be *TOO* bad going North as most people tend to leave the DFW area and go South. If you're going on a Sunday then the opposite is true. At 6pm there still might be some Austin traffic, someone more familiar with that area might be able to give you more info, but if you came through Ft. Worth around 9pm the only thing I'd suggest you do is check http://dfwtraffic.dot.state.tx.us as they might have some particular construction going on during the evening hours.

*IF* 35 North is congested, there are alternate routes which, I'm assuming you have a GPS/Map App, which parallel the highway that can help you get around the congestion.

Dude. I've been following this since your first thread about it. Just saw you on inside edition. That's crazy. Never thought I'd see something from GAF on nationwide news. Lol

I'll be relaxing and getting caught up on some things the next two days. Then I'll be in Milwaukee Monday and Tuesday, Madison on Wednesday, and St. Paul Thursday through Saturday. If anyone is interested in joining me in any of those cities please let me know.

I'm moving to San Francisco in the next month after living my first 30 years in the bluegrass, so assuming I don't die from the anxiety of trying to move a wife and cats across the country I should be around for SF in September. Shame it's not a week earlier or we could watch the UK / UofL football game.

Sounds like we should be able to have a big group for that one. You and your wife should come, and I can bring my cousin and her family.

Whoa! Our local news (Fox 7 in Austin) has this bit where the audience picks the thing for them to show later and they're like "a person is leaving $500 tips" and I turned my head immediately knowing it'd be Seth. Very cool.

Edit: The story was selected as the "It's Your Call" segment with 44% of the votes. Congrats, Seth! Marleigh hopes she can do something like that some day.

I'll be in Austin later on my road trip. Perhaps I should leave a $500 tip there?
