SFV: Ibuki is not releasing in May

Was gonna reply to this, but I'm just going to leave this link here. Alex Valle says it perfectly.

Alex is a fad. A loud minority of fans clambered for his return, but no one plays him. They didn't do it when he was the main character of his own game, and they sure his hell aren't doing it now. Balrog is a series constant that will always have fans and people that play him. He just doesn't have the loud minority of the internet backing him.

I mean, just look at the viewership numbers. Alex's release trailer hasn't broken 200k views on its primary YT post. Guile is nearing 700k, and Ibuki is nearing 500k 2 days since the trailer dropped.

Whats worse is Alex is secretly a top-10 character in this game & isn't getting the play he deserves.

To be fair, people had already seen extensive footage (including trailers) for Alex before Capcom released that one.

Alex was playable by the time his trailer dropped and modders had shown him off days before that. Not really fair to make comparisons given the circumstances.

No one cares about Alex. Him and Sean are SF3 trash that no one outside of an extremely small group who pretend to like those characters even remember.

I mean, even when we look at trailers for characters back when no one had seen or heard of them (pre-launch roster I mean), the numbers still aren't as low as Alex for most of the characters (Rashid is close though).

Heck, the Laura reveal trailer, which was leaked nearly a week prior to the trailer actually being released, is over 650k views.

Also, not surprised Necalli turned out to be the most watched YT trailer for the newcomers, as he seems to be the most popular & used of the 4.

I mean, Garrett already made a better trailer before Capcom, so you should take into account those views too

Data-miners beat Capcom to the punch in terms of showing off Alex, so that's not exactly a fair comparison to make.

Yeah didn't someone on Gaf release a pretty good Alex trailer before the official one even came out? Wonder how many views that one has
EDIT: BEATEN

Lmao .... Those are some useless statistics , Alex was leaked almost a week earlier with tons of footage around.

Ibuki and Guile had tons of people re watching and analyzing the trailer to see their moveset and abilities.

He used the classic jazz music, but he just used the same template from Capcom for the trailer. What was better about it?

He did it so we got to feel good about GAF

It came out first when we had no indicator that Alex was even getting a trailer also I guess

And if they lock them behind the season pass, they'll piss off those that have been playing those characters for free within these past few months.

Capcom has no way out of this one.

Nonsense. They stated exactly what the conditions were for everyone getting to use the DLC characters for free for a limited time. They don't suddenly owe them to the players that didn't buy them. They could have just delayed them for everyone, but everyone got to use them for free until the store is ready. Now people are complaining because they didn't change their mind? Gimme a break. If that's not baseless entitlement, I don't know what is.

For people saying LOL - useless stats; Alex was available/leaked early - SO WAS LAURA! Laura's reveal trailer was leaked a full week BEFORE the trailer went up, and it currently sits at over 650k views. I said this in my follow-up post. So that IS a fair comparison. And so far, Alex is the least viewed trailer for a character, with Rashid being the second least viewed.

Laura had her trailer during the pre-release hype train. Capcom didn't release Alex's trailer until the day of his release. Not to mention the tons of streams that had Alex data-mined. So again, not a fair comparison.

It's been a lot longer, and Laura is a new character. Alex is not.

I mean, he has a point. Sean is a Dan clone and nobody wants Necro or that other one who looks just like him, back.

I really want Necro quite a lot. He had ridiculous stun output and fun juggles. His long-limbed keepaway would be far more effective in a game without air-parries too.

Sean and Dan would be great to see too but I expect them even less than Necro.

It's been a lot longer, and Laura is a new character. Alex is not.

Several older characters, for example Guile, have far more views (over 700k). And Rashid, another new character, has 250k views, and it has been a lot longer since his reveal as well. Heck, he was the 2nd newcomer who was revealed, Laura was the 3rd.

Laura's trailer was both leaked a full week prior to Capcom putting it out and was widely available prior to it actually dropping, and she has far more views than Alex.

Alex is simply not that popular with the mainstream crowd. I don't know why people are fighting this conclusion.

Weird how the life bar is draining instead of one big chunk being taken away from the blast.

That final blast does a TON of damage. I imagine all those hits are built so to ensure this move scales terribly in long combos.

We wanted to clear up the confusion around the release of Ibuki in #SFV. She will be released alongside Story Mode at the end of June.

We planned for her to come out at the end of May/beginning of June but there were unforeseen delays.

Thank you for being patient.Moving forward we will work to communicate information surrounding content releases in #SFV at a much more rapid pace. We'll have a blog with more info surrounding the June content and other topics the community has brought up in the next day or so.

Once again, thank you for your continued support. June is going to be a huge month for #SFV so stay tuned for more news!

The why release the trailer and info now?

I don't see anything wrong with Alex being in the game. It's just dumb when people use Alex to posture about the glory of third strike. Revisionist history about it being the most revered fighting game ever.

The why release the trailer and info now?

Cause that June update is probably closer than most people realize? The Guile trailer hit within 14 days of him dropping. Same thing could be happening here. It's not like they released the trailer, said she was dropping in May & then delayed her; they dropped the trailer already knowing she was missing May, hence why the trailer got dropped with 2 days left on the calendar.

Admitting to the mistake is one step, the other is to follow through on improving. If they do so in July remains to be seen.

Who knows if there will be consistent updates but in the past hour we've learned 1) we will get a June update blog in the next few days and 2) Ibuki and Story Mode come at the end of June.

Edit: and they said Ibuki was planned for the end of May but unforeseen problems delayed her. I'm going to reiterate what I said previously and say that Capcom still can't get the Zenny shop up and higher-ups thought three free DLC characters was too many.

The tweet I posted says Ibuki and story mode are coming at the end of June.

Saying they'll communicate more often? More than once a month isn't a high bar, Capcom, and people have told you this for months.

and that's what they're addressing with these tweets. What else can they say at the moment? Let's see how they follow through moving forward.

No Ibuki for EVO, confirmed.

One big update, confirmed.

Saying they'll communicate more often? More than once a month isn't a high bar, Capcom, and people have told you this for months.

Why wouldn't Ibuki not be EVO ready? Even if they launched Ibuki on June 30th, that would still be enough time to have her be a valid character for EVO. EVO isn't until July 15th.

Unfortunate. I registered for Evo the day it launched and threw in SFV. Since then I've failed to find a character I enjoy and was hoping Ibuki would fill that role, as she was my last chance. Guess I'll just have to DQ myself and focus on GGXrd. Oh well.

Oh damn. Thats just silly. Well, maybe this means the Zenny store is finally getting ready to launch. Hate that they are still targeting the end of the month.

It really is. I don't want to think what'll happen if Zenny isn't working by the end of June.

Saying they plan on communicating better/faster in the future is like an announcement of an announcement at this point.

I'm willing to bet ibuki is delayed just so that they could avoid releasing her for free and that the zenny store is coming with he update
