Shadow of Mordor: Brutal kills video

I had a feeling this was coming, there is a fine line between gratuitous violence and violence that serves purpose to the story.

360 spin, slow-motion decapitations would fall in the former category. That and it feels icky combined with the LOTR license, it doesn't fit the universe.

I never would have thought blowing hunters to pieces with my shorty or the multiplayer finishers were required for the story to progress. I'm just glad they made it an option. (In the US of course)

Also, I haven't watched the films in awhile but didn't orcs get sliced and beheaded during some battles? I saw a lot of black blood back then. :)

I would say that it could fit the Mordor theme, whereas it would be out of place outside of that location in Middle Earth.

I was about to say the exact same thing.

For what it's worth, I actually don't really like The Last of Us's multiplayer.

The blood and finishers are still there in the single player. I just noticed how gory it really was now since I am going through Normal + mode and I have an unlimited supply of ammo, shivs, bombs, and molotovs. After this run and getting the few collectibles I need, I will Platinum!

Some quality camera angles at the end of the second video, let hope they fix that fro release.

I just don't think Troy Baker's features mesh well with the game's art style. Talion's face looks very naturalistic, whereas everything else is slightly exaggerated.[/QUOTE]

I didn't even realize it was him. You put it well tho, his features don't fit the style of the game that's why it feels off.

Minor complaint tho. Frankly, the most authentic game to the lore I've seen is LOTRO. people should play that if they want authenticity and large scale. This is a different kind of game, and as long as the mechanics are solid I can overlook everything else that doesn't fit. That's because I understand why they needed a recognizable IP to get this game done, so it doesn't bother me that they take so many liberties with it as it does others.

It fits the movies though, where there's decapitations and maiming in pretty much every single one.

Im surprised this is getting a lot of love on GAF.

to me it looks like a janky repetitive last gen mess. But each to their own. :)

This game has not grabbed me yet, seems like it's a bit of arkham asylum and dynasty warriors, the graphics are not that impressive and the white silhouette ghost form does not jive with me. I hope it surprises but I can't say I'm stoked.

So many decapitations it gets pretty dull after a while seeing orc after orc head going flying off. Hopefully there is a bit more variety to the kills in the game but nevertheless I'm still pretty excited to play it once it comes out.
