works for Gamestop (lol)

9.7 (i was close, amir0x :P)

9.5 Presentation
From the cinematic camera work to the somber setting to the beautifully orchestrated story, this is near-perfect. Minor camera problems hold it back from perfection, but only slightly.
9.0 Graphics
Not the best framerate we've ever seen nor the crispest graphics, but the art direction and animation are absolutely phenomenal.
10 Sound
The effects are light but nearly perfect. The score is virtually unmatched.
10 Gameplay
One of the most original games we've seen in a long time is also one of the best games on the PS2. Combining elements of puzzle solving, adventure and action, this is gaming bliss.
9.0 Lasting Appeal
It's so good you'll pick up again down the road, like a great movie. Plus, there's plenty of stuff to grab and places to explore after you're done.
9.7 OVERALL
(out of 10 / not an average)

Shadow of the Colossus is easily one of my favorite games on the PlayStation 2 and ranks highly among my favorites on any system. It is a true masterpiece in terms of art direction and, dare I say, cinematography. From the fights with the colossi to exploring the world to basically just standing back and letting it all soak in, Shadow of the Colossus is an amazing experience and an absolute must-have title.

God yes.

gamespot owned lol

rite?

Seriously, demo is awesome. I never, EVEEEEEEERRRRRR played a game like that before. Looking forward to the final version.

9.7? Wow, that's pretty over the top. Prediction skillz failed. Great to express the polarization of this title, some will LOVE IT, others will LIKE it, others will just plain hate it.

:lol

I'm sorry. Shadow of the Collossus may absolutely rock, but remember Jade Empire's 9.9? A 9 for replay value? Poor Fire Emblem and its pitiful 40+ hours...

Shit, I hope I'm squarely in the "LOVE IT" camp since I'm buying it based on blind faith alone. Something I rarely do.

You and me both, brotha

If this game disappoints, I'm going to record myself smashing the game to pieces, then piss on the rubble.

And post it on here.

I bet you would like this game more if it is called Shadow of the Demi Factor.

I can't get excited over a high score from IGN anymore since they give them out like candy, but my interest is certainly piqued.

Knew IGN's would be around there. Anyway, can't wait to play it. I wish I had a real good job to get all the games I want to get. This is a must, and I will get it. But with a decent job that works around my schedule, I'd also have Madden, Psychonauts and Ninja Gaiden Black to be playing right now. I'm missing out on a lot of great gaming as of late.

Hm, according to the score, the effects are light but perfect, not 'nearly'.

That's really cool, but that stinking 9.9 review for San Andreas kind of sours me on IGNPS2's reviews. With that said, I really don't even know if this is done by the same person so I can't fairly compare the two. This is one of the few PS2 games I really want to play including Okami, MGS3, Katamari Damacy, Final Fantasy XII(though the characters hardly look appealing), and Kingdom Hearts II. I really don't want to seem like a troll here, so I'll say congratulations to the game and I hope it is a big hit. Regardless of who makes them or who benefits them, I always want great, unique games to succeed with the game industry shrinking so quickly in terms of variety.

Seriously, GameSpot's review of MGS3 made me doubt the "accuracy" of their reviews. Then again, we all share different opinion and MGS3 is one the very best games I have ever played. I expect to be very, very pleased by Shadow of the Colossus.

When given a choice between believing IGN or Gamespot, go with Gamespot.

The score may be crushingly low, but at least you go into the game with realistic expectations.

On a scale of 1 to 10 Halversons, this score goes to 11!
11 Halversons, huh? It may be a good game but its no Cybermorph.
(Seriously though, glad to see this getting some good scores. Go out and buy it if you have a ps2)
