Shadow of War Hype Level?

None from me, not even on my radar. Shadow of Mordor was a one-and-done kind of game for me.

Hope the final boss in this one is good though.

I don't really care much for it at all. I never talk about it with friends, I forget the game is releasing and I actually enjoyed the first one.

I'll get it when it's around £10 - £12 on sale depending on how it reviews.

First one was almost the definition of mediocre. Second one seems to be the exact same game. I mean I enjoyed some time with the first but it’s not a full price game for me.

$20 and below game personally.

Was hyped at the announcement, but hype deflated quickly with all the bad press surrounding the game. Will take a wait and see approach. Since the first game hit the bargain bin rather quickly (while garnering favorable reviews and great impressions) I see no reason the sequel will fare better. Will pick it up when it's cheap and when the actual loot box ramifications become clearer.

Probably the least hyped I've been for one of the big AAA releases since Watch_Dogs.

Probably a combination of thinking Shadow of Mordor was average & repetitive and all the scammy WB microtransactions shit.

I’m super hyped. I loved Shadow of Mordor.

The only thing holding me back at the moment is having one kid, another on the way, and having enough backlog to wait until Xmas.

Zero.

It's not even on my list to check out sometime next year when it's on massive discount. I couldn't stand the camera of the first one, and the game itself doesn't look all that interesting to me.

Really hyped, i think the Nemesis system is significant contribution towards this gens innovations, SoW looks to fully realise what the devs always intended.

Day 1 on X

I really enjoyed the first game, but I don't have much hype unfortunately. South Park comes out soon after and then I'm also getting Wolfenstein at the end of the month. Shadow of War will probably be a game I get in the future when on a good sale.

After all the microtransaction bullshit, shelob and the charity dlc disaster literally 0.

Gonna wait until its in the bargain bin.

I had plenty of fun with the first one, but I'm too annoyed that they made the second one this shameless cash grab, so I'm gonna pass, at least until they release a Game of the Year edition at 20 bucks or so.

I do believe in voting with my wallet, so that's what I'm gonna do.

Shame, though, because I truly enjoyed the first one.

More excited about a root canal

Will wait for the goty edition to be $5 like the first one I suppose. I cannot reward companies for these practices.

0. Was excited for the first game after all the praise it got. Turned out to be pretty mediocre and didn't care for it at all.

I didn't have much even before the lootbox stuff.

The first game was noteworthy because of how weak 2014 was for games. I really don't feel like we need to go back into Mordor again to fight another war in this time period that doesn't really need expanding upon. The settings and enemies dont differentiate themselves enough to interest me, outside of a mild curiosity with the castle/keep sieges. I would like to be proven wrong

About a 1/10. The loot box stuff and the way its been marketed has really rubbed me the wrong way. The initial reveal gameplay put me off straight away.

The first was kind of over rated, even by myself.

My hype is dependent on the overall impression from gaf users. Nothing so far makes me want it on launch so here's hoping it gets good comments and makes it on the will buy someday list.

As someone who thought the first game had promise and could blossom into something great, I think most everything about Shadow of War looks dreadful.

None at all, there's way too many other - and more interesting - games to play. Also in a stacked month like October, this gets drowned out. Then there's also the microtransactions bs... Yeah not biting.

It’s a weird journey with this game. I know WB put everything behind marketing this early on, they said to retailers they expected it to be one of the biggest launches of the year and their entire weight would be behind it - but then they almost disappeared close to release. That’s usually a sign the publisher cut and ran over creative issues (ie it tested bad). We’ll see. Maybe they just messed up the marketing.

all the monetization shit has been sketch as fuck, and also I think especially plays poorly against a backdrop of Middle-Earth.

It's a no go for me unless it comes out and is supposed to be just remarkable, in which case I'll probably rent it before the end of the year.

I really enjoyed the first game and will eventually pick up this one. I wouldn’t say I’m very hyped though. There are other games I want to play first.

Was never really hype about SOW, despite enjoying the first one and then all the negative press this year with microtransactions/lootboxes & other decisions by Warner Brothers have just killed any possible hype or momentum I could have for the game.

Shadow of Mordor was enjoyable in a quite weak 2014 for games on the shiny new consoles, but now the gamesphere for PS4/XBONE is incredibly crowded & Shadow of War is just another game in the mix. A game that's been riddled with numerous negative attention brought to it again & again. A game that in my opinion can wait to be played & bought once it hits $20 or less.
