Shadow of War Hype Level?

The first game got boring pretty fast and I think it will be the same with this one. May buy it on a sale for some lotr action. Also the few storyvids I saw are kinda...cringeworthy imo.

I'm pre-ordering the gold edition. I loved the first one and can't wait for this one. I couldn't care less about the loot boxes, as I've yet to play a game(non-mobile) with microtrandactions that made for a lesser experience. Gaming may have microtrandactions out the ass now, but games are also cheaper and bigger than they've ever been, so it's a perfectly fine trade off for me considering I can just ignore the microtrandactions.

Canceled pre-order, marked the check box 'not interested' on Steam. Looking forward to the $19 complete version whenever thats available, so still a smidgen of hype. (I actually cancelled all my pre-orders a few weeks ago, look at me, Im finally practicing personal self-interest through consumer awareness and advocacy)

I have zero hype for it but the first one was a massive seller and allegedly pre-orders are even better for this one. So what do I know. Anyhow, I do plan to pick it up when I find the time to play it.

Love the creators and the game looks like a real sequel worthy of a purchase. Sadly they wrongfully calculated my interest in lootboxes and multiplayer. I'm not interested in either and thus the game is not gonna get a purchase from me. I might gamefly it at some point but not anytime soon.

Already waiting for a sale based on the microtransactions AND season pass inclusion, and I did love the first game. I'm definitely not as excited to play this one since it seems part of the design exists just to tempt more money out of me.

$29.99 or less on PS4 or XB1 before I buy, and that's really only if I discover from reviews that the core gameplay was reasonably expanded upon. Previews indicate some nice expansions of design (aside from microtransactions...), but I'll wait until final game has been played and evaluated.

Will wait and see. I'm hoping for a deeper, more robust nemesis system which would make me pick it up sooner rather than later.

I enjoyed the first game quite a bit, but 2014 wasn’t a very good year for games. This year has been very, very good, and I already can’t get to everything I want to try. The reviews for this would have to be pretty outstanding for me to care.

It was already low but then having it come out the same month as some of the stuff that's coming out?

it's
latest

Since Shadow of Mordor was my most regretted purchase the year it came out, it would be like a 1 for me. This game looks more enjoyable from what I've seen but I won't consider buying it until it gets some major discounts, assuming that impressions are more favorable.

Really really really loved the first one, but unless someone can link a way to get it super cheap I doubt I'll be buying it for a long time, loot boxes make me sad in singleplayer games.

The first game became a chore to play after the first half so personally I just have no interest in playing the same game loop again but with probably more shit and microtransactions. I'm kinda hoping this game does meh so monolith can make something else *ahem* fear *ahem*.

Need to finish Mordor first. Was tempted to jump on CDKeys deal, but will likely patient-gamer it, and wait 6-9 months instead (unless reviews are beyond stellar).

Subterranean at this point. Hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but both their handling of the lore/writing and the DLC stuff has been really off-putting.

I liked the first one a lot, though, so I'll give it a chance at some point.

Really enjoyed the first game, but it suffered from some oprnworld checklist stuff and the nemisis stuff was not capitalized upon enough. Seemed prefect for a refined sequel.

As for Shadow of War, I'm not touching this loot box micro transaction mess. There are too many good games (like Nioh) that don't require virtual currency and for money RNG.

I still have to play Shadow of Mordor, so a purchase hinges on my experience with that title and the reviews of Shadow of War.

I'll echo that the DLC and writing elements are putting me off.

It gets so comical when you have 4 or 5 of em in quick succession and each one shouts out some 2 minute monologue or poem.

It's really shocking, but hey apparently it's one of the highest pre-ordered games in WB's history so i'm sure it'll do fine at retail.

I loved the first game. It’s one of like three games I’ve ever liked enough to take the time to platinum.

I’m excited about the sequel by default, but I’ve been on blackout for it, and even then I’ll wait for reviews. Very, very few things I’ll preorder anymore, and even for something I’m this excited for I like to keep a healthy skepticism.

I'm pretty excited. Shadow of Mordor was a huge surprise for me when I grabbed it on sale. And the marketing for Shadow of War has been great. I love all the videos they've been releasing, you can really see the scale they've bumped it up to. I personally don't see how loot boxes will detract from my enjoyment of the game, either.

Negative, which is bizarre as the first was my GOTY in an admittedly weak year.

Not a fan of how they're handling microtransactions and the Shelob stuff. The Nemesis system needed more complexity but I'm not sure it needed that much more complexity.

I'm struggling to think of a major release that has shot itself in the foot as many times as Shadow of Wardor has.

The first game was pretty mediocre that I feel only really got any attention because the year it released in was remarkably crappy all around. The loot boxes just make it an easy pass.

Potential to be one of my favorites of the year, but I certainly understand why people are down on it due to the business practices at play.

I plan to pick it up, maybe on some deep holiday discount, or next year some time. I still haven't finished the first game.
