"Shadowrun will be the greatest awesome I'M COVERED IN...500 - Internal Server Error"

I'm finding it extremely hard to find a game. I always get stuck on the waiting screen for AGES.

Pretty sure at the moment it seems I am the only one who bought this =(

Just got my Trollhammer achievement and surprisingly the only race that I haven't killed 100 of yet is Humans. Anyway I just got out of a game of Attrition where a kid screamed..."WOW THEY ALL HAVE RES I HATE THAT". In Attrition...

There is no 100 human kill achievement.

Play the demo. Easy to get a game there.

Search again if you are on the Searching screen for 5+ minutes. We believe there is a bug where sometimes a player will be on the Searching screen even though the game has stopped searching for games. Normally, after failing to find a good game, a new game gets created and the text on the screen should say Waiting. If you are on the waiting screen for more than 5 minutes, consider canceling and hitting the 'Play' button again.
IMPORTANT: give it the full 5 minutes to search for a game. If you are on the Waiting screen, please give it several more minutes for new players to join before quitting and trying again. If you quit & restart sooner than that, no new games will be created, resulting in longer wait times for you and everyone else.

I paid 45euro for it.. that is the pricepoint I want to pay for it, not 59.
I really love it so far, if i come back 4 times for the demo then I know it is good.
No problem to find games.

I was really, really impressed by the demo.

Is there a clan system a la Halo 2 and Resistance? A game like this requires a lot of team play and I would definitely pick it up and play if there was a clan system so we could have a GAF clan.

They put what ideas/work they had for a clan system and sent it to the live team. It was mentioned that they believe clan support should be a system wide feature, not just game specific.

Got it for £8.99 in Blockbuster, they have got this good offer on trade-ins at the moment so got given £31 for Crackdown, which is good seeing as I paid £36 for it new. I enjoyed the demo, but what is the best character in the main game?

I had my 10 kills/no deaths. Hell, I had 15/0 and the damn server error kicked me out with only a little to go in the last round. This is getting to be a habbit that's getting old.

I have server errors once in a while, but my team-mates are usually the reason I don't get the 10-0 streak. I'll be on 9-0 and then they'll accidentally betray me. Ugh.

My teammates weren't doing anything. I went around with a pistol and katana and was killing everybody. My team just stood at the base "defending." They were like "How does Master Fox have so many kills? What's he doing?"

I didn't have my mic in but I could not stop laughing at their stupidity.

I played Gears with a friend for an hour tonight...Mostly filled with frustration. I played Shadowrun for 2 hours...Had fun just about the whole time. Good old Shadowrun:)

They REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY REALLY need to fix the horrid shooting through walls/around corners/in smoke/teleport that goes on in this game.

Or the katana kill from 15 ft. away.

That's a side effect of Client Side hit detection. You weren't shot around a corner/in smoke/teleporting, your client just hadn't caught up to the network packet saying you were dead. It's that or server side hit detection and all the bullshit you get with games like Gears.

I'd understand if it were just immediately after I'd done something. However, it isn't uncommon to be getting shot 3-4 seconds after I've teleported through a ten foot thick wall. That could definitely be cleaned up. You get shot around corners every now and then in Halo 2 for example, but nothing to the extent of SR. And it's really lovely once someone is coming at you with a sword and they look 20 ft. away but really aren't!!!! You can't tell me they couldn't do a much better job with that.

Sounds more like network performance issues. I haven't seen anything that bad except the occasional game that goes apeshit on the lag and everyone is warping around the screen.

Im sort of glad Shadowrun is so unpopular. I never have trouble finding a game and the community so far is about 100000x better than Halo.

Shadowrun doesn't have dedicated servers does it?

I am getting really sick of this. This should be the first thing that our live subscription fee goes too.

It is even more unacceptable for a MP only game like Shadowrun. I mean, they didn't even have to take the time to make a damn single player campaign.

Oh ok, thanks!

And I do agree with them, it should be a system wide feature and would be an integral part of this pay service. I would argue that clans could result in increased game sales as well.

But it is disappointing that the game itself lacks one, and that we'll have to wait until XBL is updated to include it. Rumours are that it will occur prior to Halo 3 hitting, but that's still a while away!

What the hell were they thinking when they designed the rocket launcher?

Not only is it expensive as ****, it's five times as unreliable as it is expensive. That makes no sense! If it's going to be the most expensive weapon, it needs to be a sure shot, not a crapshoot!

How do they let a weapon that self-destructs like 25% of the time through beta testing and think it's fine? I just played a few matches and bought an RL twice; first time I was in Main Plaza in Favela, nothing surrounding me and nothing in the way and I aimed for a troll that didn't see me. I blew up instantly when I pressed RT.

Second time, there were idlers on the other team so I thought I'd get a few quick and dirty RL kills in. Ran to their spawn and aimed for one of the idlers. I stood perfectly still, he stood perfectly still, my reticule had locked onto him and my aim was perfect. Miss. Reposition a bit closer and set up perfectly again. Miss.

What the ****! :(

And that's not even mentioning how it's random if you get a semi-smart or completely ****ing droolingly super-retarded durrrr how does a staircase work durrr minion.

Can anybody guess which my last few kill-based achievements are? :lol

In case any of you didn't see Wario's thread...If you buy Halo 2 for Vista you get a free copy of Shadowrun for Vista at Circuit City. Great deal.

Seriously. I bought it ONCE and I have never bought it again. It might be good for some laughs, but that's about it. I grabbed my Human Player and 100 Grenade Kill achievements tonight and I think I'm going to play some Gears for the rest of the night.

The balance seems about right to me. It can be devastating if you take a group of enemys by surprise, people healing by a tree for example, but you arent going to chase someone down with it.

You're talking about a very rare occurance, which would be fine if the RL was a pocket-sized device you had at all times. It's not. It's the most expensive item in the game, which requires skill and planning to acquire (as you probably won't be able to gather $5k without knowing what you're doing).

Once you have it, it shouldn't be up to pure dumb luck about how 2-3 people were randomly standing around and just happened to not notice you and just happened to not move for the 10-20 seconds it takes for you to position yourself and the slow-ass rocket to get there. That's really not balance at all.

And there's definitely no balance whatsoever in the fact that it randomly self-destructs when you fire. (And, yes, it really does do that for those who haven't used the weapon much.)

Mitch (FASA Studio Manager) is on Major Nelson's show tonight. Haven't had a chance to listen just yet.

http://www.majornelson.com/archive/2007/06/17/show-230-the-one-about-tenchu-z-and-shadowrun.aspx

Holy shit. Mitch just completely changed my opinion on the Rifle. Avid Shadowrun players listen to that interview.

Other good pieces from the interview...

- In 1997, FASA started developing a SINGLE-PLAYER ONLY Shadowrun game. They decided against taking it into full production.

- FASA has five other maps near completion that they couldn't finish in time to ship. DLC anyone?

And..."Nothing to announce about downloadable content." He talks about how they want the game to have legs like a dozen times...If that's true they better have a lot planned for DLC.

Listening to Mitch he sounds like a really cool guy. And he makes a lot of good points about both Shadowrun, game design, and game journalism.

Interestingly enough he gets a question about FASA shutting down. He says that "there are less people in the studio" but does not say that FASA is shutting down. He says a lot of people are on vacation, and a lot of people were contractors who were never part of FASA who have taken off now that the game shipped. He may or may not be dodging the question.

I did the same thing, I got £31 for a game that Gamestation offered me £15 for.

It's called lag and unless you're talking about the occasional seriously bad lag then it's not fixable. The only reason lag is so apparent in this game is because it's so fast paced. It's just something we're all going to have to live with.

I think he's exadurating just a tad.

I talked to one of the FASA guys at E3 about this, and they really struggled to make this single player game work, but it just wasn't happening. Unfortunately, I can't remember any of the details, though he sounded pretty disappointed it ended up dead in the water.

I really think they should have had less options in the demo (or make it expire after a certain number of games), sold the final game at a low price, and make up the rest in microtransactions. They would have been able to get a solid userbase then, which they could get more money out of until Halo 3 ships.

I did not know about that three round rifle burst thing. Anyone know how effective it is? i.e. good at close/medium/long range etc.?
yep i do it, it's good at medium/long range for me. I gotta listen to this though, after shotty, rifle is my weapon :D

Dont act like its impossibly hard to get. After about 5 or 6 matches everyone has extra money they are willing to donate. If they were any stronger you would see half the players on every team running around firing rockets everywhere. I have never seen it randomly self destruct either. The bottom line is if you hear a rocket go off you ****ing bolt. At the very least its good for scattering a group of enemys and keeping them off balance.

i've had a few blow up on me too. I could've swore that someone said it was glitched so when it targets a dwarf or troll it self-destructs but i could be insane :lol

This game is really great, the MP portion is awesome. But at 60 bucks, i know why people are wanting more value. But i believe in FASA to keep outputting some free downloadable content
