AgentWhiskers said:Any Edgar Wright movie should cure that entertainment itch. Namely, Hot Fuzz and Shaun of the Dead.

No Hot Fuzz is there.Green Scar said:You missed out his best film. ;P
In simplest terms, Sherlock Holmes is not an action movie hero as he is in this film. Plus, the film has an awfully obnoxious case of the "not-gays"; the emphasis on female romance was ridiculous for Holmes. RDJ performed the role well, but the writing just wasn't as true to the source material as it could have been. Needed more alienating aspergers drug addict and less JUDO-CHOPPING HOTTIE.subversus said:what it did it wrong if we talk about his portrayal? I haven't watched any Sherlock movies before that one, I only read books. He's less frantic, irrational and obscure there but you've to entertain people.

See, it's totally predictable so it fails to do its job. That's all.
As an Edgar Wright fan, but not familiar with the comic, I found Scott Pilgrim unwatchable.Green Scar said:I was expecting the reaction to be "No Shaun is there." >_>
Shaun > Scott > Fuzz, suck it haters
gwarm01 said:I guess I just got enjoyment out of watching Holmes and Watson interact with each other. They had a fun relationship.

Shaun is the better movie, but Fuzz is an easier watch so I've seen it much more. The problem is Shaun is a little too successful in hitting those tragic moments, more than any other zombie movie I've ever seen. The pathos is so thick, but never feels melodramatic.

See the Moffat series for a good Holmes adaptation, see the 2009 film for a good action-adventure movie.

You should watch it if you like Sherlock Holmes.
Absolutely agreed, it's brilliant. I wish seasons had more than three episodes though, but at least they're 1.5 hours each.Kyaw said:This is not a film but there's a contemporary TV series called Sherlock.

Loved Sherlock Holmes and looking forward to more RDJ and Jude Law.

Op voluntarily hasn't watched more than two 'Hollywood' movies this year. I can only conclude his range is limited to subbed Asian film and anime.demon said:Not liking a mediocre movie that makes you a film snob?

The new James Bond films are pretty cool too.
Autumn, and again only three episodes sadly.Kyaw said:They are bringing out another season too. Not sure when though.

Fully expected to hate Tron Legacy, but I've actually watched it a couple of times again since, something I've never done since LOTR. Just a fun movie, no BS. Great music, slick art design. I thought Jeff Bridges' character was really cool too. "Biodigital jazz, man" lol.Danne-Danger said:The answer is Tron: Legacy, it's dumb but doesn't try to hide it and it's an entertaining ride all the way through.
Also The Ghost Writer, Hobo with a Shotgun and Les amours imaginaires, though those don't really fit with anything you said besides being entertaining. They almost fit within the time frame you gave though!

Yeah I was the same way. After a month of doing nothing but analyzing literature (or rather the last hectic month of a year of analyzing literature!) it was my choice for the evening of the final day. I put in the BD and turned up the bass and honestly I couldn't have chosen a better movie for that particular moment. The only thing I knew going in was that it had a cool look and a great soundtrack, and the rest of the movie didn't get in the way of that. Plain and simple fun. I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it!H_Prestige said:Fully expected to hate Tron Legacy, but I've actually watched it a couple of times again since, something I've never done since LOTR.
