This is the worst fucking thread I've ever posted in. You both suck. No, you suck much worse for making this dumb fuck thread. Thank you and goodnight. Fuck.
This guy's got it right.

Meh at Star Wars. Films were important, but I found them to be kinda shit.

Not comparable to Godfather 1 and 2 at all. Waaaay better films.

Okay maybe 'shit' is a bit strong. A New Hope was pretty fun, and Empire Strikes Back was a great sequel. But Return of the Jedi was a complete turd, even worse than Godfather part 3.

And I prefer Godfather 1 and 2 to the old Star Wars films. Just better performances and story for me.

Sure, but Godfather is a much better trilogy.
I dunno. People say just skip Part III all together. As a trilogy, I think Star Wars also comes out on top. As films in general, perhaps I'd say I and II are better than the Star Wars Original Trilogy.

New crazy discussion time: Godfather is better than Part II.
Or at least, I enjoyed Part I more than II, even though I can recognize the power that Part II contained.

I haven't seen:

Lord of the Rings Trilogy
Harry Potter movie adaptations
Transformers 1/2
Star Trek

Whatever dude. It doesn't matter.

:lol :lol :lol

I have no desire to see that. My point was I don't see many movies that people talk a lot about on the internet/real life.

Adding to my list:

Rambo series
Die Hard series
Rocky series
Matrix series (only seen parts of the first one)
Indiana Jones series (only seen the god awful Crystal Skull)
007 movies (only seen Casino Royale)

I guess I'm not a movie watcher.

Are you nuts?

What are you smoking?

never seen star wars? bad parenting during childhood years

never seen godfather? your own fault for not "educating" yourself during adolescent/adult years

I agree with the guy that said not seeing Star Wars when you're a kid is a far worse crime than not seeing the Godfather.

Movies I haven't seen that get fairly wide acclaim:

Monty Python and the Holy Grail
Memento
Alien
The Terminator
The Princess Bride
Aliens
12 Monkeys
Taxi Driver
The Fugitive
L.A. Confidential
Snatch
Juno
Psycho
Trainspotting
Heat
Citizen Kane
High Fidelity
Airplane!
The Royal Tenenbaums
Unforgiven
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon

^^^^ I've never seen any of those except Airplane! and MP and the Holy Grail.

I even own Terminator 1 and 2 and have yet to watch them. Same with Ghostbusters.

Actually, not seeing these is so much worse than not seeing Star Wars IMO. If you happen to catch any of them in the near future you're in for a treat.

You are the only student on this campus that hasn't seen the LotR trilogy.

Reason #412 that I know I'm getting old:

I'm starting to see fellow human beings on this planet that haven't seen Star Wars (original trilogy), and don't care to see it. I'm also starting to find that there are younger people who have seen it, and think its total shit - and this just blows my mind. I grew up in the late 70's and early 80's and I didn't know anyone growing up who didn't like Star Wars, other than the occasional female - but even most of them that I knew liked it.

No doubt that the original trilogy is clearly fading from pop culture relevancy. You still hear references to the OT in shows like Lost. Its pretty well out of the mainstream now and probably has been for the last 10 years. Helped along by that abortion of a prequel trilogy and this clone wars garbage.

I haven't seen the Godfather movies. I've always intended to, but never really had a chance. I've been curious about it since a lot of my friends love to quote it. Not sure if I'd like them since they seem like total "guy movies," but if I could stream them via Netflix or something, I'd probably do it right now. Alas.

I've only seen Star Wars IV and V and I've fallen asleep every time I attempted to watch The Godfather (it always comes on late).

I think I screwed myself out of loving Star Wars by not seeing it before my teens.
It honestly didn't do anything for me.
The Godfather movies are still on my movies to watch list.

The Godfather films are incredible, so I'd hope everyone at least tries them. I think Empire is the best of a very bad bunch of films, I don't think skipping Star Wars is going to hurt beyond the odd joke going over your head.

It heavily depends on where you grew up. Different cultures (and generations) have different movies that they consider 'childhood classics'. I could mention some of what is here considered a classic and you may have never heard of it.
On the other hand, Willy Wonka (the 70s version) is completely unkown here. As in, absolutely, nobody knows it. I haven't seen it and nobody I've ever asked had seen it. Heck, I didn't know of it's existence until Burton's version.

I never cared for Star Wars, even as a kid i thought it was dumb with the all the Ewoks, Wookies and shit. I appretiate it more now, funny enough.

Then again, i was a big ALIEN/ALIENS/THE THING nut since i was like 7 years old, so thats the kind of experience i was expecting from space+aliens movies back then.

I also didnt care for E.T. (but loved Close Encounters)

The Godfather > Star Wars.
Star Wars is as bad as the Matrix movies. The only good thing about Star Wars are the lego games.

I liked it, not as good as the first one but to call it one of the worst films of the last decade? GAF hyperbole rears its ugly head.

you both fail but its true, watching star wars as a kid in the 80 was the shit

god father is good whenever... also i dont think youd be watching the god father at a really young age and maintain your attention at a younger age

OK, this is worse than both Star Wars and Godfather together. Raiders of the Lost Ark is the definition of perfection.

Dude, you just said that Transformers 1/2 are better than Star Wars and The Matrix. And yet, you rank Godfather above it. You confuse me...

A friend of mine hadn't seen The Goonies or Ghostbusters. I was so shocked and dissapointed, I didn't ask about other films. I bet she hasn't seen Star Wars either!

I wish I had not seen SW though. I am fed up with all the stupid jokes.

I hadn't seen Ghostbusters till a few weeks ago, I mentioned it to my mate and the first thing she said was "did it complete you?", in a way, it did.

I am so shocked that the people of a gaming forum think that the shitty sci-fi movie is more important than one of the best dramas of all time.

I'm pretty sure the only movies I ever saw in full are Lion King, Peter Pan and the first two Pokemon movies. If I'm missing one, it sure as hell isn't a famous critically acclaimed one.
As far as books go, I read a couple ones for school, and from almost every single one I came off with the disgusting feeling of elitism being thrusted into every hole of my body. The only exception was Sherlock Holmes, I liked that one.

I did read the first chapter of Godfather though, it was part of my English class. I liked it. I'm just not into movies or books enough to care.

To begin with, I doubt anyone I know in my age is any better than me. Maybe they watch that year's Avatar here and there, but generally, this country has nothing in the way of movies or books culture for my generation.

17 till September, and Israel. But I don't think those facts are more important than the fact I just don't like movies.

Edit:
Fine geez! I'll keep my keyboard to myself next time!!

The problem isn't that you don't like Movies or Books. You have a lousy taste, whatever.

But you said:

That kind of frightens me...
