Well, this has been a long time in the making. We first moved to our new London flat in early 2017. We worked with some interior designers to realise our vision for the apartment. In late 2017 we had a leak that ruined most fixed surfaces, and 2018 was spent battling with insurers, and getting repairs done. The flat is now complete, and we got to enjoy the break at home playing games.

Here is a look at some of the different spaces in the apartment:

Lounge and dining area

The heart of the flat, where we spend most of our time. A Genelec 7.0 system provides sound to the space, with a three Genelec 8351s in the front, and four ceiling-mounted Genelec 8341s at the rear. The TV is Sony 85x9505B, chosen for its low input latency and high quality 4K HDR image.

The Genelec speakers where chosen because they allow us to hear the video games closest to what the likes of Capcom or Bioware intended. The large amount of reflective glass surfaces was a particular challenge, but Genelec used their software to minimise intrusive artefacts resulting from the hard surfaces in the space.

KIT LIST - Sony 85x9505B TV, Genelec 8351 speakers. A bespoke media unit, with Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, Switch and a Titan X Pascal gaming PC, through a Marantz 8802a AV amp. Hatches for Switch and PlayStation VR. Togo sofas from Ligne Roset.

Snug

This is the most indulgent and fun area in the flat. We designed it as a comfy late night escape, a cave where one can retire to late at night when others go to sleep. A Sony 4K TV on the left is hooked up to a Super NES Classic and a NES Classic, making this the classic gaming space. This space also hosts a headphones listening station.

KIT LIST - Sony KD-49X8305C on a Desalto pole, Genelec AIC25 speakers. A bespoke shelving unit with an integrated minibar. Cambridge Audio streamer (Tidal/Spotify), Schiit Yggdrasil DAC, Schiit Ragnarok amp, and Hifiman HE-1000 headphones. NES Mini, Super NES Mini, PlayStation Classic, Analogue NT Mini, Analogue Super NT.

Kitchen and breakfast bar

I often sit around the breakfast bar with my iPad, reading GAF, or playing Pokemon Go on my phone. TV and front Genelecs in the lounge can be seen on the left side. The coffee machine is integrated on the right hand wall, and it does fantastic cappuccinos.

This room is mostly for work, and personal management. A bespoke, motorised desk for standing and sitting work. iMac 5K for any desktop games - such as WoW, Starcraft 2 and Dota 2. Framed above the Mac, production drawings of the first Sega Megadrive from June 1989.

Guest room

I've spent more time of my life in hotels than one should. Our guest room was modelled based on my favourite features of hotels. The bed is large, and has USB and charging slots on the side. A study desk with a comfy chair provides a space for any urgent work. A power jack is hidden under a hatch, so that laptops and iPads can be charged while working. Light blocking curtains darken the room for a good night's sleep.

KIT LIST - bedside Apple docks and USB-C chargers, Genelec AIC25 speakers.

Epic writeup. Thanks for putting in all the work and for capturing those beautiful pictures.

I'll share pictures of mine when I clean up my room tomorrow on a day off. I've been working so much lately that it's turned into quite the mess since I'm so exhausted all the time. Don't worry. It's a decent enough setup. I mean, I DO have 4 monitors of varying size...don't ask why. Yes the minimum resolution of some of them is 1080p. The other two are 1440p. Anyways, I'll post the pics when my room is presentable.

FFS man you could have at least tried to clean up the place before taking pictures. I can't understand how some people can live in so much filth. I mean seriously, a visible wire coming from that desk lamp? Have you no standards?

Now if you'll excuse me, I must swim through my collection of Taco Bell big boxes and Doritos bags to get my vaccum before posting anything ever again.

I was going to post mine. Now I'm not.
Chittagong wins. Flawless victory.

Thanks guys you're very kind! It's been a long road since the first gaming setup picture I posted here on GAF, in 2004:

Chittagong Chittagong

I'll just pile on with the love of your place. Especially the coziness of it all. Such a great aesthetic. I've been watching it change since I joined GAF back in 2006. I wish my own apartment / income level could've evolved at that pace :messenger_loudly_crying: . I'd even just take a few of the furniture pieces.

A couple of random questions:

- Why do you put out / hook up both Analogue consoles and the SNES and NES Minis?
- How does that standing desk work with that upper shelf? Wouldn't the iMac get crushed as it moves up?

Thanks! I've been very lucky to be able to evolve things over the years, however now I find myself dreaming of not evolving, I guess that's what getting old looks like! would love just to remain still here for a decade or more. I just counted that on my time on GAF since 2002, I have lived in 6 apartments in two countries. That's less than 3 years per apartment on average. For this apartment, we did everything from scratch, so I want to enjoy it now for a long while.

Answers to your questions:

- I mostly use the Minis these days due to save states, but I whip out the Analogue devices every now and then for a more authentic experience with games like Duck Tales and Stunt Race FX. I've preordered their Mega SG too, which is great since there are no worthwhile mini boxes for Sega.

- You are right, the iMac needs to be nudged ever so slightly forwards for the upper position.

Very nice Chittagong, I've always been impressed with how clean and modern your setup is and it has been fun seeing how it has evolved over the years:

2007 | 2008 | 2013 | 2016 | 2019

I hate moving and with my personal nature of being a homebody who does not like to travel I find your lifestyle very interesting. Have you ever talked about your career on GAF and what you do that you are able to relocate so much? If not, don't feel the obligation to do so as I don't want to pry but if so please share as I am really curious.

Love the divider wall S ScaryMovies , it works really well, creates a lovely atmosphere. I've recently wanted to do one but the space hasn't offered obvious opportunities. In yours it really makes sense.

Oh wow, thanks so much for pulling those old posts together. I was thinking of doing it but thought it'd be too much work, lol. Such a nostalgy trip! There seems to be a weird continuity to it all over the decades :D

I used to work for a big multinational corporation, and now I work for myself, doing venture investments. Both jobs have a fair deal of travel, plus we also love to see the world, which we are lucky to be able to do. The constant flat swaps have been out of necessity (relocation, security, rental expiry etc.) and opportunity (we have upgraded when we have been able to afford to).

I'll wait the thread to gather some more pages for my humble gaming setup not to share the spotlight with such amazing and cozy flats.

I think this is my favorite setup I've seen on here. I like a collection that clearly looks like it's takes decades to amass. It looks like the kind of place where you swivel around in the desk chair and just take it in from time to time. It's kind of what I've been working towards with my setup over the years. Very nice!

Some pretty impressive setups here. I took a photo but realized that some of the paperwork i've got hanging on my wall and on my desk have some pretty personal information of my clients/employees so gonna have to do some redacting tomorrow and take another one :)

Believe it or not I acquire most of this in about a three to four year period, this is like my mid-life crisis room haha. I love it and when I move I hope to expand to something bigger with a large loft or basement area.

Thanks!

P.S. I actually do that sometimes, I just look around and smile :messenger_beaming:

Your pad is ridiculously well decorated well done!!

Absolutely killing it on aesthetics Chittagong Chittagong . My next build will be a lot larger than this one, dedicated gaming loft above garage as it stands I have locker cabinets lining the garage full of every generation of console and thousands of games so they wont be displayed here only what is set up. Loft will have more of a Dynamite feel and vibe to it crossed with my current style (Loving it DynamiteCop! DynamiteCop! by the way)

First time sharing, Lounge 1, Sammy 75", Xbox X, PS4 Launch, Set of ASTRO A50's for each.

This room is mostly for work, and personal management. A bespoke, motorised desk for standing and sitting work. iMac 5K for any desktop games - such as WoW, Starcraft 2 and Dota 2. Framed above the Mac, production drawings of the first Sega Megadrive from June 1989.

KIT LIST - iMac 5K, Genelec AIC25 speakers.

It's nice and all, but, umm, for a moment there I forgot I'm on neogaf's gaming setup thread and thought I was on a real estate website :messenger_grinning_sweat:

View from Snug to Lounge

Snug terrace is designed to be our 'cigar terrace'. I smoke one cigar every two months with a good friend, always here with a glass of whisky. Reindeer hides remind us of our native Finland.

Breakfast terrace

This is at the front of the lounge. It's very often windy in the City, so getting to have breakfast here is a rare treat.

You and yours have an absolutely astounding sense of design. Very cozy, relaxing, and clean. I love it and the minimalist design. I may have to ask you a few questions over the next couple years for tips :D . As an aside - I am curious about the TV and the artwork that is on it. I am planning on upgrading to something like an LG C7 OLED in the next year or two once I get settled in where ever I end up after I graduate this May. Do you use your TV as a rotating art piece when it isn't in use? If so, how do you prevent burn-in or is that not much of a worry?

I will try to post my own place once I return back to my apartment on the 9th.

Very little has changed since 2018, gotten more games and some oddball items but overall it still looks like this.
I love the density and variety going on here. I spy a cdx, I always wanted one of those.

All these setups are so nice and orderly, I think a schizophrenic lives in my room.:messenger_halo:

Chittagong Chittagong What an elegant place! That was so much fun to look at! I'd never leave my place if I were you.

That is actually a thing now, especially since there is a pool, gym and bar in the building... I have actually found myself not leaving for three days :D

seriously.....who uses a left handed mouse....and a mac one at that...... 0 out of 10 ;)
Your pad is ridiculously well decorated well done!!

Chittagong Chittagong , fantastic taste in apartments. Not so great taste in games. A TV with only NES/SNES and no PC anywhere to be found.

Haha, there is an Xbox One X, PS4 Pro and gaming PC in the black cabinet underneath the bigger TV, and I've got a Logitech G900 gaming mouse and a Logitech G613 gaming keyboard for it

And usually there is a Switch dock and PSVR on top of the black cabinet too, former being certainly the MVP of the setup!

Here is what the PC looks like:

Do you have help from interior designer or do you do it all yourself?
