Found the guy from UAE... Insane crib chittagong

Do you have help from interior designer or do you do it all yourself?

This time we had to use an interior design company because we were just too busy with work, and it was too big a job for us to doo ourselves. Basically everything is new (furniture, plants, dressing), and a lot of the joinery is bespoke (media unit, shelving unit, working desk, bed heads, bedroom desk).

But we did make them a very tight brief, it was a PDF about 30 pages long, so it outlined the style for each room. AV specification was done fully by us ourself, and implemented by our local Crestron installer.

Almost nothing has changed since last year, but I'm happy with the setup. Last year at this time pretty much everything I had was piled up in the room on the floor. I like to think I've made good progress since then. I like going through these kinds of threads because when I see some of the more elaborate setups, like DynamiteCop!'s it gives me an idea where I'd like to take the space going forward.

Switch, NT Mini, Super NT, WiiU, Xbone, X360. Other consoles are in another room. TV is almost a decade old now, looking to replace it this year. It's only a 55" but it's about as big as I want in the room. 65" is my limit.

kUe98Lq.jpg

This is my favorite space in the house. The desk is directly beside the door heading out to the back deck. Other than the room I sleep in, this is where I spend most of my time at home. PC is almost 3 years old now, looking at replacing some components. Still runs everything, but it's gotten to the point that I need to adjust settings in some newer games to hit 4K/60 at max settings. Laptop is a POS that I mainly use when I don't want to run multiple screens on the 40" monitor. Or when I'm drawing/working from reference. I'll be using a second monitor eventually, just in decision limbo as to what route I want to take with it.

MqKZL6X.jpg

Building models is my primary hobby, I have an entire room full of Gunpla kits I've built over time, about 200 kits in total now. I keep a few big kits and my Star Wars models beside my desk. The work area I use to build everything is in the room directly opposite my desk.

I am telling you guys, looking at the above post I am *this close* to busting out my credit card, getting that 63 Smash amiibo box and going full toy land

Nah dude #teamminimalistic is more cozy. Pictures aside don't think the GF would approve it :messenger_grinning_squinting:.

Well, this has been a long time in the making. We first moved to our new London flat in early 2017. We worked with some interior designers to realise our vision for the apartment. In late 2017 we had a leak that ruined most fixed surfaces, and 2018 was spent battling with insurers, and getting repairs done. The flat is now complete, and we got to enjoy the break at home playing games.

Here is a look at some of the different spaces in the apartment:

Lounge and dining area

The heart of the flat, where we spend most of our time. A Genelec 7.0 system provides sound to the space, with a three Genelec 8351s in the front, and four ceiling-mounted Genelec 8341s at the rear. The TV is Sony 85x9505B, chosen for its low input latency and high quality 4K HDR image.

The Genelec speakers where chosen because they allow us to hear the video games closest to what the likes of Capcom or Bioware intended. The large amount of reflective glass surfaces was a particular challenge, but Genelec used their software to minimise intrusive artefacts resulting from the hard surfaces in the space.

KIT LIST - Sony 85x9505B TV, Genelec 8351 speakers. A bespoke media unit, with Xbox One X, PS4 Pro, Switch and a Titan X Pascal gaming PC, through a Marantz 8802a AV amp. Hatches for Switch and PlayStation VR. Togo sofas from Ligne Roset.

Snug

This is the most indulgent and fun area in the flat. We designed it as a comfy late night escape, a cave where one can retire to late at night when others go to sleep. A Sony 4K TV on the left is hooked up to a Super NES Classic and a NES Classic, making this the classic gaming space. This space also hosts a headphones listening station.

KIT LIST - Sony KD-49X8305C on a Desalto pole, Genelec AIC25 speakers. A bespoke shelving unit with an integrated minibar. Cambridge Audio streamer (Tidal/Spotify), Schiit Yggdrasil DAC, Schiit Ragnarok amp, and Hifiman HE-1000 headphones. NES Mini, Super NES Mini, PlayStation Classic, Analogue NT Mini, Analogue Super NT.

Snug terrace is designed to be our 'cigar terrace'. I smoke one cigar every two months with a good friend, always here with a glass of whisky. Reindeer hides remind us of our native Finland.

Kitchen and breakfast bar

I often sit around the breakfast bar with my iPad, reading GAF, or playing Pokemon Go on my phone. TV and front Genelecs in the lounge can be seen on the left side. The coffee machine is integrated on the right hand wall, and it does fantastic cappuccinos.

This is at the front of the lounge. It's very often windy in the City, so getting to have breakfast here is a rare treat.

Study

This room is mostly for work, and personal management. A bespoke, motorised desk for standing and sitting work. iMac 5K for any desktop games - such as WoW, Starcraft 2 and Dota 2. Framed above the Mac, production drawings of the first Sega Megadrive from June 1989.

KIT LIST - iMac 5K, Genelec AIC25 speakers.

Guest room

I've spent more time of my life in hotels than one should. Our guest room was modelled based on my favourite features of hotels. The bed is large, and has USB and charging slots on the side. A study desk with a comfy chair provides a space for any urgent work. A power jack is hidden under a hatch, so that laptops and iPads can be charged while working. Light blocking curtains darken the room for a good night's sleep.

KIT LIST - bedside Apple docks and USB-C chargers, Genelec AIC25 speakers.

Now that's a comfy gaming den! Where do you get the oversized "game boxes" from for your walls? Not seen those before.
Thanks, they were advertisement pieces that slid over the top of those beeping security gates you see in a department store. My GF just so happens to work at one and she would bring them home for me, unfortunately I haven't seen any new ones in a couple years.

That looks really nice, good use of space too. I assume just from looking at the design of that finished attic that your house was built in the 30's or 40's.

Really lol? I thought it was a remodel, that space looks very 30's and 40's in terms of design. I do work on older houses and the lofts in them look near identical to this haha.

Interesting. Many of the houses around here have similar attics. Much of the plots are too close to sea level so we can't have basements in much of the neighborhood so they build "up"

so do people just load up games for taking photos or do you leave games running 24/7?

anyway i love seeing all the posts that actually show off their gaming stuff (and not just their expensive professionally designed houses)...it looks like heaven! not really something i could do. it would drive me crazy having so much stuff lying around. i have a few physical games (only switch) and some figures on display but that's it.

My sanctuary sitty...

I was going to make an effort to comment to each of you guys who've posted decent set ups, but I frankly love them all. Big range of budgets on display along with a larger range of style. Taking a lot of inspiration from these posts, truly physical manifestations of love for gaming. And so, as I've promised myself for YEARS - here is my set up.

First, a contextual photo. My house is not big at all, and I enjoy playing games most when my 4 year old daughter or wife is with me/watching me play/playing along and so I keep my game playing in the living room. No where else for it, and I wouldn't want it anywhere else:

y4mY9_tMgiS_nskn1UqiDQsHGJIbfYbYgGqURdsVbBp00zAGfYOLCKOOFBz2GSoaP1nCWC2dm7ZFEUJ673tYyTVTDNZJ2zt7Zm86OLkO8mNKPbz1su0elnc0ei_zGq-VVCP8ggIjfLTSg2zGxTMtQ4HX43WIGzh9a9Kcba_ORC76bLnmGp3DC9K_OA5pN0v8h3gD8PP7Y9S3KouMm2oxfucvQ

A closer look at my "Retro Corner", plus bonus shot of my pretty stunning legs.

The drawing is of Link by my daughter while in Pre-School a few months back. Her teacher asked her what it was and she said "Zelda for my Daddy. He plays that game." CLEARLY demonstrating knowledge that the game itself, which she was referring to, is called Zelda. Had she been asked WHO it was she'd of course has said "Link. More specifically Toon Link from the Hero is Successful Adult Era TimeLine as detailed in the Hyrule Hystoria."

All consoles hooked up and ready to go to either the CRT, the flat screen or, in the case of the BC PS3 - both. Xbox one S was a Birthday present this year - it's hooked up to the big tele but I justify it in the retro corner due to playing OG xbox games. Similar excuses made for the Switch on the edge there. Mega Drive Classics makes it count.

The Disney Princesses also live there. Because that's where they live.

And now my "Arcade Corner" that lives in the Kitchen:

A Dreamcast Pod that I won via Sonic Adventure EU competition back in the day. I think I've posted it here on GAF before (Edit: Oh wait, yeah, it's my avatar!). I also have my Saturn and PS3 hooked up to it. Before my daughter was born my wife liked to cook meals and I'd game on it with her while waiting for <insert cooked food here> to be ready. It is now used daily for my kiddo who eats in the kitchen (as we all do) and we have on various kid YouTube vids through the PS3. Very occasionally we break out the Saturn steering wheel and play Sega Rally on it. More frequently I play light gun games on it. Perfect height.

So that's my gaming life, interwoven with adult life for attempted maximum efficiency!

How the fuck do you sit in that chair and not immediately fall asleep? Amazing room, I love the attic hide-away!

Nothing fancy but I tidied up a bit and took all boxes and old replaced gear that I accumulated over years to recycle so I took a photo to remember how it used to look when it inevitably clutters up again!

Yeah, that's a Dolphinbar stuck on my monitor. Some of the stuff in here make this look like that gamecube-in-the-basement.jpg, lol. Whatever, it works and my shelves are my HDDs :p

It's way safer to have them hanging when there's kids and animals around. I think it looks better too.

I love guitar, but I pulled a Ned Schneebly and gave up and sold my stuff a decade or so ago. Now I've been building back up and trying to play more. Rocksmith 2014 has been a godsend for just sitting back and having some fun without squinting at sheet music or tab for hours.

If you're interested, the Dinky on the right is autographed and sketched on by Joe Satriani at one of his concerts. He's my favorite instrumental guitarist.

Here is my current situation. This is about a third of my collection. A lot of it is in storage due to a lack of room and this being a temporary residence (about 1.5 years). Would love to have a dedicated room to my gaming collection in the near future.

My setup has changed a ton in the last year but this is where it has ended up at least until the end of February when I move out.

I've ended up with every consolidated into a single area. I got into minimalism awhile back and with it a lot of the memorabilia or figures were gotten rid of. I also went from two separate setups for PC and console to what we have here. This sits directly in front of my bed which you can sorta see at the bottom. I generally sit at the other end up against the wall, but sometimes I will pull my chair thats beside my bed up and angle the display.

The left drawer has my physical games (mainly digital) along with the remains of my physical anime and movie collection (mainly a small collection of Eastern horror movies). The right drawer houses the power strip along with a small basket that houses my controllers, external HDD, and stuff like my headset and bluetooth keyboard.

PS4 Pro, Switch, Apple TV, and my PC (7600K/RX570). I also bring out my PS3 from time to time.

Finally! I've been waiting for this post ever since i saw your equipment in the storage quite a while back. Congrats on finishing your appartment! It is looking fantastic!

There is a little detail visible in this kitchen shot though that got me interested: Your Genelecs in this picture are mounted next to the TV while in the front shot LCR is situated above the TV. I guess you moved them up for esthetic reason or did you move them down for acoustic reasons? :)

To add some more to the topic:

This is my current living room setup where i do some light gaming via streaming from my main pc rig.

I will move relatively soon though and have some nice upgrades planned. :)

Edit: Can't led W Working_Stiff setup uncommented. This is an impressive collection and it brings back fond memories of my childhood. Looks cozy af as well. Well done!

Thanks! Beautiful place, and the table looks very similar to our snug table!

I am impressed you spotted the speaker change. Before the leak the speakers were on the sides of the TV, that's when the kitchen pic was taken. It was an awkward fit and didn't look great. I consulted with Genelec and was told they would be ok above the TV, so when we did the works we got them moved and the wall replastered at the same time. They still need to be pointed downwards towards the listening position.

We actually took a new kitchen picture but the day was not quite as nice, hence I used the old one. Here is a new pic:

So I got motivated to make my desk look better after looking at so many nice pictures on here.

I did some cable management with the sheaths and wall mounted a slightly nicer soundbar.

So I guess I can finally submit something. Taken forever to get the Office to some sort of ability to enjoy it. Most of the gaming stuff I have is outside in the loft and is just a normal TV area so nothing terribly impressive yet. I will share just the Office this year from the looks of it. I do the most of my gaming in here so naturally I have focused in here the most. Just recently started collecting the Retro consoles. Adding more shelving down the wall with the door to add more soon.

I like your setup 888 888

I especially like how you shelve the individual consoles and have them ready to be plugged in, instead of having every console plugged under the entertainment unit. That's how I plan to do my gaming setup in the basement. Only 1 or 2 consoles plugged in at a time and everything else tastefully shelved with the wires and controllers tucked behind.

Thanks!

It's so much easier to manage than trying to have them all wired up and ready in a tight space. I have already snagged the Dreamcast, PS1 and PS2 off the shelf, played them and set them back up there. I only put out a few games per console for show but I have a few tubs full of old stuff. Nothing near as impressive as some of the posters here tho. Most of my games are digital on PC which isn't as fun for displaying ;)

888 888 Awesome retro stuff and lighting! Just wondering, why two PCs?

Ha. It's my Son's second PC (that sounds terrible saying it like that). It's for when we play coop games or online games. We love games like RE5, Dead Space 3 for coop. We also play a lot of Rainbow Six so it's nice being in the same room. It used to be my wife's but she quit playing.

That's awesome. Great setup, dude.

Question for those with a setup with a lot of shelving and display figures and stuff. How do you handle dust?

When I bought my house years ago, I setup one of the spare rooms as a gaming room. I had tons of shelving and I loaded them with figures, collectables, game guides, games, consoles, etc. Looked awesome, but everything was a dust magnet and having to constantly move heaps of displayed items in order to clean around them started getting on my nerves, to the point that, when I eventually moved house, I kept most of the collectables in boxes.

Do you just keep on top of it and constantly dust, like once a week? Do you hire a cleaner to do it for you? Do you just let it go and only tidy up when it's time to post pics on GAF?

Just curious.

The razer is awesome except for two things. I dislike that it auto shuts off after about 10 mins. And there isn't a remote. Other than that it is very powerful and the sub has a good amount of kick too. The surround mode isn't bad either but I usually keep it off. Also you can adjust the sub volume by holding the Dolby button and hitting the volume buttons.

It tucks nicely under monitors.

Luckily my office doesn't get too dusty. Even my pcs don't have much in the filters and I clean those every month or two.

As far as the shelves go. I have used a pc dust blower to hit them to on knock down he dust off the statues. Things like the consoles I have hit with a cloth once every few months. The sucky part about my shelves is how high they are. My tallest is 9 feet high.

Seriuosly Chittagong, very inspiring, thank you for reminding us of your first post in 2004, that's how you do it. It shows what hard work and dedication can do for anyone. Absolutely Inspiring. Enjoy your beautiful place, the view alone is spectacular.
I'm currently moving to Florida from L.A and probably going to copy some ideas from your setup.

Love all these clutter free setups,I always seem to have hard drives, usb sticks, pens, paper and other junk everywhere within a week of cleaning up.

Great Chittagong, share with us your 5 habits of successful people. Real request.
That flat and decor must cost half a million pounds or more, that is some movie set level of class. I bet your ID uses it as promotion material.

But your front 3 speakers are placed too high, dont seem to be even angled downwards, fail.

So, first pic is a side photo of the rack. Playing some School Girl Zombie Hunter.

I leave the Ps4 and Switch mounted as my TV only has 2 HDMI ports, and below them are the Wii u, ps2 and PS3.

And yep, I have a display for my weeabo shit, if you like I can take more pics of it.

I'm sorry for the pics quality. I don't have a proper camera to take pictures but I intend to buy a Canon or Go Pro down the line.

The second pic is my shelves that sit right next to my couch. Basic organization, retro gaming and handhelds on the shelves on the floor level, lots of amiibos, figures and PS3/ps4 games. Highest shelves are for some CE boxes for now.

Edit: 3rd Pic is one interesting drawer of the rack where I have my Switch games and some stuff that is lying around. My biggest problem is having space for the Retrocore (I have a Saturn and a Dreamcast) because I can't set my TV on my wall because my neighbors do not have a wall of their own, and as these Sega consoles needvertical space for the tray, and I don't have space on the top of the rack, I cannot set them below because the space is too thin
