Shrimp tails.

Tails or not, make sure you balance the shrimp out with an equal amount of white wine.

Prawn tails aren't for eating. Its especially painful when they're left on in things like pasta, and you have to take them out of the dish just to remove the tails. It annoys me.

Fried fish bones? What is wrong with you people?!

Seriously. The way I imagine, the Japanese or whatever are all eating the fish and then sending the bones to the US to deep fry and sell them to foreigners like it were some sort of exotic food!

(:P)

Let me guess you also like eating kiwis with the skin? Hair and all?

I actually do this. I find the skin of Kiwi really tasty actually ...

As for OP, if its fried I'll totally eat the tail.

Edit :
Just eat the whole fucking thing. Eat the entire ocean bug dude/girl, then wait a while and poop out the useless bits in the aisle of your local supermarket or gas station. Go home, swim in the septic tank and vote for Ron Paul. Just fucking do it all.

Oh god, :lol

Ahahaha!! That was brilliant!

If you've ever had a whole fish fried and ate the fins, it tastes like that. It's really ok tasting. If I told you it was wasabi peas you'd probably believe me and like it. And calcium and all that

I moved to Taiwan. They pull the heads and tails off if the shrimp is somewhat big.

Otherwise the entire shrimp gets cooked. I like the ones that look like baby shrimp. So crunchy.

But I wouldn't eat a bigger one.

I used to love shrimp/prawns..until i worked on a trawler for a few months and saw what they go thru b4 they get put on your plate so fuck that.

You must elaborate.

I guess you have never cooked shrimp yourself if you actually eat the tail. The only reasons people leave it on:

- it's a hassle to peel it for every shrimp while preparing since they break off differently each time, but it's the exact same kind of skin you peel from the rest of the body
- it looks better, if you pull it off it hardly resembles a shrimp anymore (the meat of the tail is a pointy thing, doesn't look like fins)
- people can hold on to it if it's a party snack

I picture everyone who says yes as a fast food junkie (people who live mostly on fast food the majority of their lives), am I correct?

Someone also mentioned earlier about having to deal with tails when they're in pasta: something must've went horrible wrong there then. The fact that people remove the tails for stuff like pasta is because you're not supposed to eat them. There shouldn't be any tails in dishes that have shrimp mixed in.

If you eat the tails, you might as well eat the whole skeleton. And eat your hard boiled eggs with shell. Eat the green part of a watermelon.

I cook for myself. The last time I had pizza was Thanksgiving 2010. The last time I had a burger was February 2011. I've only eaten at Burger King once in my life and it was terrible. These dates are memorable only because they happen so rarely. Eating the tail or the shell for me is just a cultural thing.

Side note, I can't think of anyone who eats egg shell, but there is a dish my family makes that involves the watermelon rind. Carve off the skin and you can pickle it, stir fry it, or just make it into a salad. Don't be so quick to judge.

I've made pickled rind and it's good. Made them pickled mango style--vinegar, sugar, and li hing mui. But it's a real chore to cut the skin off, so I'd rather just use green mangoes.

And no, I'm not a fast food eater. Fried shrimp tails are tasty. I will take them off if they are not deep fried, as they are too hard normally.

You must be trolling.

Hey now.

Back when I lived in hawaii there was this shrimp dish I'd get regularly at a ramen shop where they were butter-fried over rice, and they still had the entire shell on. Very crunchy, but quite delicious. Like I had said before, just the tail/shell by itself, neh, but if it's seasoned, if it's prepared in some way, then sure! It's just like any other crunchy thing, and thin enough to be easily chewed.

Chinese salt and pepper shrimp is typically cooked with head, shell and tail on. I'll usually discard most of the shell after chewing on it a bit but if some ends up being eaten, no harm.

Are you sure you were supposed to eat the shell? I've eaten plenty in Asian restaurants where you have amazingly seasoned shrimp (with shell on), but you were kinda supposed to chew and suck the flavor out of the shells, not actually swallow it.

I dunno, it didn't really seem like a shell that was easily chewed on without it breaking down into eatableness. It would have required some pretty crazy gymnastics to get the meat out of there without the shell.

OH WELL, ATE IT.

I always remove the tails/legs(if any)/head(if still attached), as well as the shell. It's too crunchy for me and usually doesn't have much, if any, flavor.

There's no "juicy goodness" in shrimp tails. It's all chitin. I won't judge the OP for eating them, but they're not very appealing. It's something you eat accidentally and then proceed to gag up...

I've only had shrimp twice in my life and both times I ended up in the hospital. But I still dream about those tasty morsels.

shrimp legs are really good as tempura actually.

they're not bad. Not amazingly delicious or anything, but not bad.

they sell them like this. this one is wasabi flavored.

That doesn't look like any Eel I've seen when eating Sushi. Prepared differently?

Am I wrong for eating them? This Tuesday, after watching Girl With The Dragon Tattoo with a few friends, we headed to a nearby Applebee's to eat dinner. One of my friends ordered fried shrimp, and I noticed that she pulled off the shrimp tails before eating her shrimp. I asked her why she didn't eat her shrimp tails, and she gave me a weird look. My other friends also gave me weird looks for asking that question. They told me that they never ate shrimp tails because they considered that part of the shrimp the bone.

But I fucking love shrimp tails. I love crunching on them and swallowing their juicy goodness afterwards.

Am I wrong? Tell me please GAF, because your answer is the most important answer.

Damnit Sonic, first hotdogs and now Strimp tails, what in the hell is wrong with you?

sorry, when I read your post I picture your avatar.

Its no different then eatting a crab shell, you don't eat that part of the shrimp or crab.

I don't eat shrimp tails but I think I know that feel spindashing, I eat Lemon peels too when I make lemonade, they're good man.

I don't see why you'd eat the the tail, I feel like it would be hard to chew and swallow. Usually I eat my shrimp like this: Pick up Shrimp -> suck it (juices ftw) --> remove the shell --> eat the meat.

Recently though, I think I have been developing an allergy to shrimp which sucks really bad. I'm supposed to book an appointed to confirm it but I have been lazy.

I will miss you.

You must elaborate.

Fresh prawns, normaly brought within hours of being caught are what you want.

'green prawns' (the ones you buy from a store) are soaked in a strong preservative soulution to extend their shelf life.

Then theres prawns that are pre cooked on the boat, commonly these prawns are used in fried rice and such stuff. Holy fucking sweet zombie jesus the smell of 300 kilos of prawns being cooked all at once is the most disgusting smell in the universe and is the single reason i can not stand seafood.

The conditions they are stored in are not exactly clean and nor is the transportation for that matter. They pass thru so many hands before you get them its stupid and disgusting.
I'd go through more but thinking about it makes me want to vomit.

Fried shrimp tails are delicious.

I'm not going to eat it on baked shrimp though, no more than I would eat the unpeeled skin.

I'll eat the whole thing if it is fried. But usually cook/eat shrimp which have been de-shelled. Love heads though. Great flavor there.

Asians eat it with shells on. Eating the heads/tails is just personal preference. When I am eating those seasoned fried shrimp with heads and tails, I just eat the main body(with shell) and ignore the heads and tails. My parents eat everything, my siblings eat the main body, tail, and suck the stuff out of the head.

One time I actually started doing that. Eating the shell for the hell of it. I stopped once the chewed up shell formed into little daggers and massacred my mouth.
