Depending on where you live, there are tell-tale signs of impending season change. Based on your climate and latitude however, the signs may be different. Living in Western NY, it just occurred to me there are three such signs ... and curiously, I noted them all yesterday. So for me, the Summer is now effectively over. Even with some impending warm days, mentally, Summer's dead.

• The Fall Sky - Around here, we get these big puffy clouds that are a dreary mix of white and gray. The look is pretty unmistakable, and out of nowhere, they showed up yesterday

• Fun with the Dinner-time Sun – Oh the joys of driving West at my Latitude. Just like the clouds, yesterday was the first day I really noticed the pain this season.

• Orion – Went out to have a smoke on my patio last night. Guess who was chillin' on the horizon?

The blinding Sun and Orion are obviously due to my Latitude, and the look of the sky (I assume) is symptomatic of my region’s climate. So what about the rest of gaf? What specific signs tell you Fall is nearly upon you … and have you seen them yet?

Not getting hot when I go outside.

Fall is such a nice season, but it doesn't last long here.

Almost?

Man it's well into Fall here... trees pretty much lost all their leaves :(

I'm not looking forward to -50F weather.

Kids are back in school, so I basically want to wear a medical mask anytime I go to a public place once I hear them hacking coughs nearby. Trees are starting to lose their leaves. Days are getting shorter. Starting to plan for Christmas holidays.

Good times. I love the fall.

Went out this morning to jog, needed a hoodie and still was considerably cold.

Love when it gets darker earlier, makes the downtime after the day is gone more comfortable and cozy.

went out to smoke a cigarette last night

had to throw a sweater on

also, getting excited about thanksgiving dinner.

Not having to scan for high clouds at 6am at work, since it's dark enough that you still can't see them.

Heat waves. Sure sign that the summer marine layer pattern is gone, and we're in for several weeks of hell before it starts to cool down.

When I leave the house, there are leaves falling on me.

That, and the inability to dress in the morning for the afternoon (I hate having to carry my jacket around).

Indecisive weather. Today the weather was great, I could walk outside in my t-shirt if I wanted. Yesterday it was cold and it rained for a bit...

So Cal here, no changes to report. Still 101 outside. Comes a little later though when the jetstream drops.

I remember when I lived in Newfoundland though one day in the middle of September it was like someone flipped a lightswitch. Just woke up one day and BAM fucking cold outside for the next 8 months.

I see these Cinnamon broom stick decorations in Publix that always reminds me of fall. And the humidity drops every now and then so it's just hot out but not uncomfortable with the wind blowing. I'm in central Florida so Fall is never a big change it seems like.

Thousands of bikers descend on my little town, then peak color tourists shortly there after. I love fall, but I hate having to dodge all of the damn visitors.

The darkness creeping in, ever so earlier. There's an eerily depressing atmosphere in the air. It's getting colder, damper and darker.

:(
This.

This is why autumn is so bittersweet for me. I welcome the cooler temperatures though I know by the beginning of November it's just gonna suck.

Acorns have started dropping. Seeing deer rubs. Noticeably fewer grasshoppers when you walk in a field. Smelling, then hunting for pawpaws in the woods.

Around where I live you can tell by the soybeans. Their leaves brown up real quick .

Definitely.

Ah my favorite time of the year. The clouds around here are definitely puffy and it's sunnier more than usual. Leaves are starting to change and it smells like fall too.

It's getting darker noticeably sooner also.

My PS3 is silent again after 3 months!

:lol :lol

I was so glad to finally be able to play without having the Air Conditioner on to keep the fucking thing quiet.

But I bought a new Slim a few weeks ago, so that's not an issue anymore. :D

The fact that I want to die about 35% less than normal.

But winter is coming soon, so you will be back up 35%, plus an additional 15% because it's so cold outside. :lol

there really is something quite somber about autumn.. I dunno what it is exactly. Maybe childhood nostalgia of being back in school.

I was outside smoking a cig at 5 oclock at work yesterday about to go home and that autumn afternoon/evening was creeping in and I was just hit with a wave of depression for some reason.
