Silent hill: Townfall releases 2026 | State of Play 2026

The dev team talking for transmission sounds very passionate and intelligent on what they are building.
Damn I totally missed that, going to watch it today.

Some of the art direction gives me Tool music video vibes, awesome.

Already love the voice acting and overall sound direction.

Not a fan of the hipster looking main character.

Gameplay bits looked fake but I'm in if they can deliver something satisfying. Looks decent.
Right? Why can't we have just a normal looking guy? This dude outfit is so distracting, it screams:

He unironically looks too healthy for a Silent Hill character, I miss the more sickly look ( which is especially weird here considering he seems to be suffering from some illness ).

Been looking forward to seeing this from its announcement since I really liked the developer's previous game, Observation. Apparently their first game (Stories Untold) is pretty good too but I haven't gotten around to playing it yet

Edit: Links to the developer's previous games:

Edit2: Wow they're on sale now! They weren't on sale when I originally posted the links. Devolver Digital is jumping in on the hype lol
Observation is very, very good. I think I will try and play SH2 soon, need to get into different genres. However part of why I don't mind is 3rd person, I think it will be too intense for me to play it on the 1st person.

I legit thought this was a new Life is Strange game when I first saw him lol, I couldn't tell it was a Silent Hill game until the end when the monsters showed up.

Doesn't seem that Konami is continuing with numbered entries... which I suppose is fine if they're cranking out a game a year.
Thats a bit sad, those annual games feel a bit on the spinoff side, I thought F would be close to a mainline game but it felt a lot different.

Wouldn't be surprised if Konami chooses Bloober for a numbered entry which only happens after they remaster Silent Hill 1 & 3.

Feel way more excited about this reveal than anything of f.

I do still want Silent Hill games to be in Silent Hill or places surrounding it, mentioned in the lore at least, like Silent Hill 4. That said, the fishing town looks very cool and atmospheric and hopefully has more exploration than f.

Obviously we don't really know anything about the story, but I hope they aren't another dev that thinks Silent Hill 2 is the normal thing for a Silent Hill in terms of what the town is. At least he isn't a Japanese school girl unless some twist happens...

First person worked perfectly for P.T in its short, compact, tightly controlled way and I don't mind the change personally. The melee combat looked good, but the shooting looked really weird to me.The enemy he was hitting looked like the Silent Hill 2 enemy too.

Last thing I hope for is that there are no forced stealth sections or hide and seek stuff. Personally, I hate forced stealth sections / games or games where you have to run and hide in a locker or under a bed etc Due to me hating that genre and mechanic, I never feel tense playing them, but frustrated and even angry (to be clear, I don't mind the option to sneak past enemies or anything, just getting a game over after being caught really bores me)

Looks great, I loved SH2 remake and SHf was fantastic, this seems like it won't disappoint either. The series has been successfully resurrected.
I'm really tempted to play SH2R as my next game even though I'm a wuss. I keep telling myself if it's in 3rd person it can't be that bad lol

If you're not used to horror stuff SH2 remake isn't the ideal first game. The second half of the game is really psychologically draining with progressive light deprivement, things that get worse the moment you expect you had enough and there will be a more relaxed section :messenger_grinning_sweat:

SHf is far more accessible in this sense because they have really nailed the beauty in terror concept, environments are so good to look at that fear/anxiety is a second thought for the brain.

If you're a wuss I can guarantee you'll stop playing SH2R the moment you reach some stairs going down forever and finally arrive where they lead to. That is if your nerves can handle the rest. It's an awesome game so you should really try it.

I never cared for Silent Hill f, but SH Townfall is 🤩.

Finally got a chance to watch this trailer again on my OLED. Very impressive visuals for base PS5 footage, even if there isn't a ton of stuff going on at once. Many of the shots in the trailer look photo realistic.

I'm totally in. Konami have found 2 studios that, under their stewardship, seemingly GET how to represent the overall ethos of Silent Hill while branching outside the box. - I believe Screen Burn/Annapurna will only be an added 3rd to that list.

Anytime you make changes to something established, people will come a'crying. But, just like when a band changes their sound up for a new album, I am always open to trying something different.

No, if I'm buying this I'm finishing it, although I will probably go Resident Evil HD first.

Looks interesting, and always nice to see things set in the uk, especially outside of London, it's super underutilised as a game setting.
