I play a good mix of both solo and multiplayer. Probably more MP overall since SP titles tend to not help me when I am feeling tired at night and the rush from MP gets my blood going. Like I recently finished playing AI Somnium Files and I am almost done with the SP of Halo Infinite. Also really enjoy when there is a coop experience since I have a few friends that really love MP but won't touch some of these titles unless they are coop.

Solo all the way.
Local multi is fun, so were LAN's, but these are becoming a thing of the past sadly.
People in MP games are usually just as toxic as they are on the Internets, and I'm trying hard to avoid them already.

I stopped playing multiplayer since the introduction of private parties. It's just not fun anymore, since the most essential part, hearing who screwed my mom, is missing.

I'm shocked how much it's swayed towards single player.

Given that the most popular online games are often rehashes with slight changes makes me proud of the gamers here.

Hell Cod, Madden, and NBA 2K they could just update them every year through software updates anyway. The whole Madden Ultimate team and the VC bucks are simply horrendous pay to win systems.

MP guy here. SP games feels dead sometimes. Unless the soundtrack is neat, it just a lonely moments with yourself.

The last time I enjoyed online multiplayer was on GT Sport and I'm sure I'll enjoy GT7 online as well. Saying that, I also have the occasional game of Fall Guys with my daughter. I don't really do competitive shooters anymore - I've just grown out of them I suppose, as have my friends. I do enjoy local multiplayer with family and friends though. Switch is always fun, with MK8 etc.,

Multiplayer 80% of the time for me, maybe more. I enjoy competition. Good mp games are rewarding because you can feel your skill level improving. Every single round is a learning experience for the next match. Mostly FPS and fighting games. Ive been playing Street Fighter and Halo for literally decades now - all that experience carries over to the newest title. I equate a good online videogame to playing a real life pickup game of basketball - as long as I can still play, that will never get old to me.

For single player I mainly stick with skilled based stuff like shmups, run n guns, old school 2d games, 3d action like Sin and Punishment, Ace Combat, or Ninja Gaiden. Once in a blue moon a Dark Souls or FF Tactics run. I also like arcade racers and sometimes sims like Gran Turismo. Its seems the type of single player games I like or used to like are rarely made anymore.

If youre playing games for story its a poor medium choice, youre far better off reading a book. Almost all modern single player games feel so hollow to me - easy as dirt, utterly pointless. Either its an interactive movie with no challenge, no rewarding gameplay, or you spend 100 hours playing and leveling characters only to get to an endpoint and never touch it again.

50/50. I can easily have 6-8 hours fly by w/ buddies in MP. SP usually only a couple hours at a time before needing a break, but tend to play SP at a higher rate.

Single player.

I like doing my own thing. I have played with far too many fucking stupid people in multi-player that I quit doing it, with the exception of Predator, because I always got in a group of people who were cool and did the objectives.

I mainly play single player. When I do play online it's Tekken, Mario Kart and Switch NES/SNES online and only with people I know.

Multiplayer.

Its fun to play co-op looter shooter games like The Division 2 with randoms OR Call of Duty Cold War multiplayer. I find myself sinking hours into it.

Only single player game i finished recently was Days Gone and that was amazing.

Single player, except "hybrid" multiplayer games like souls game PVP, monster hunter.
1. I prefer to play with myself.
2. I prefer not to create threads to whine about cheaters and hackers.

Its weird , I like single player game more, especially long rpg or game I can immerse myself .But still I played multiplayer game more... This shit better at killing time and quick fun I guess .

I play lots of multiplayer games with friends, but also still lots of single player games. It varies depending on what games are releasing and what system I'm playing on. Recently it's been probably 70% multiplayer.

Those "rehashes" are also by far the most popular, most played, and highest selling games every year on every platform.

There's nothing to be "proud" about here. This poll shows how out of touch this forums participants are. On here it's all physical copies of single player AAA games and obscure Japanese "fan service" weeb games, with an intense hatred for micro transactions, whereas the greater gaming world is overwhelmingly digital copies of online multiplayer games that they play with their friends and are happy to buy micro transactions for things they like in games they like.

Single player.
Used to be only mp when i was younger, but now i LOVE the suspend resume features that allow us to just pop in for single player, do a few missions and drop oout.

I can't argue how well those games sell but it is disappointing that people keep buying the same games every year. I'm older and been through the cod fad but do understand younger games getting their chance. Originality with big studios are very few and very far between.

I love being competitive for BRs and shooters, but I can't pass up a good single player story.

Been playing less shooter multiplayer games and gravitating towards sim related MP like ATS/ETS & DCS.

Maybe if some of you played a little more MP, and bled off a little of the aggro online, so many of these threads wouldn't be such a shit-fest.

Tail end of the PS3/360 and the whole of last gen it was almost solely multiplayer games.

Recently I just chill in single player games with a game of halo infinite every now and then when a buddy comes over for beers.

I greatly appreciate the shift and not having to care about keeping up with rankings and stuff anymore.

Why is it disappointing that people buy games they like?

It's also not just younger gamers buying them, the older players also love them.

I play both but sink more time into multiplayer. Too many games try to be movies now where my limited time gets wasted on customization menus, tutorials, and cutscenes. I've become really picky with AAA campaigns lately and I find it hard for them to really grab me. I will however play a lot of smaller indies which I find better then most AAAs from a gameplay standpoint

I play some local multiplayer with my gf and daughter but the only online game I've really played in years is Splatoon 2.

I love high quality multiplayer games like cod mw, but mp games are rarely good enough for me to enjoy them. I can tolerate mediocre SP game but not mediocre mp game.

Multiplayer?

Used to play mainly multiplayer games but the older I get, I gravitate towards SP.
This way I explore more genres which I used to ignore in the past, for example, I have started to enjoy jrpgs recently which I never really played in the past.

Anyway, for me it's 90% single player and 10% Hunt: Showdown.

Probably something like
70% Single Player
20% Coop Multiplayer
10% Competitive Multiple (usually Rocket League)

I just find single player games more fun and rewarding

Multiplayer. Single player is a huge waste of money to me, especially day one. Get fucked with those prices for one and done titles.

$60 for hundreds of hours vs $70 for 20 hours.

As for the switch, fortnite is the number one most played game on it btw:

Not only that, but the list of best-selling Switch games shows just how important multiplayer games are to the system (not necessarily online multiplayer though).

Of the ten best-selling games:
- 4 are predominately multiplayer (Mario Kart 8, Smash Ultimate, Super Mario Party, Splatoon 3)
- 3 are games where multiplayer/social elements are a major selling point (New Horizons, Pokemon S&S, Pokemon LG: P & E)
- 2 are traditional singleplayer experiences (Breath of the Wild, Mario Odyssey)
- 1 is a "blue ocean" fitness game (RingFit Adventure)

Singleplayer gaming obviously isn't trivial or inconsequential, but we shouldn't kid ourselves about how most gamers are spending their time and money. For the majority of players, gaming is fundamentally a social experience. (And I say this as someone who plays singleplayer that vast majority of the time and really loathes most competitive multiplayer games.)

My most played games last year were apex, rocket league and dragon quest XI.
I'm playing lots of FFVIIR on PS5 right now.
I would say that I play lots of multiplayer but when a good game is launched, I'll hop to it right away.

Halo Infinite will make this at least 50% multi for years..

Have not really played multi pvp since Halo 3 before this

I just wanted to add that I never remember multiplayer games being so sweaty, meta-induced, and filled with hackers/cheaters. Sometimes you can find one that still has that oldschool charm. I was just mentioning Mordhau. I have so much fun in that game, even if I suck, because it feels fair. It feels balanced and silly enough to not care at all. if more multiplayer was in that direction, I'd maybe play more again.
