i'm looking forward to some online sessions with dudes who like a smooth line with the power to vote. When the game drops, we need a new gamertag swap for such things.
Seconded

Man, I'm loving the vids I've seen of the demo and everything just seems more polished and better than Skate. People complaining about the speed? lol, I found the speed in Skate to be insanely annoying at times and the physics just didn't mesh well. Skate 2 definitely looks like a huge improvement over the first. Can't wait till the 15th.

Locked up the demo right now, collided with Carroll and it locked up after the quick replay hehe.

Otherwise, seems awesome. like the new weightier feel. still struggling with the footplants and stuff, but rail stuff seems great so far. improved

Played the demo and loved it. Weight of your character feels much better in this one. I don't understand the graphic complaints, game looks great and better than the first. I'm in for day 1. Only thing I saw wrong was I hit another skater while skating and he literally flew up about 50-60 feet and then hit a wall. I'm sure this is rare but it gave me a good laugh.

Footplants are the shit! Hold a trigger and a foot button in the air and you can footplant off walls and stuff and even rotate off, it's wicked! :D

Also dropping the board down and then running up to catch up and hitting X to jump onto it is pretty cool.

just going to wait for PS3/silver demo. have a 12 month live card but i'm not playing anything online right now.

I dug the demo. Great music again.

I like that the game lets you skate as a girl, but none of the voice over addresses it.

I like that some shirts have special breasts built into them. But not all of them, just some.

When I was trying clothes on my wife said "you look like a girl."

I said, "I am a girl."

She says, "Then you look like a boy."

This is pretty much accurate. No matter what I did, I could not remove the mannishness from my one attempt at a girl. Doesn't help that all the hairstyles look like wigs just like in Skate 1. I usually do a bald or stubble-headed guy so I don't have to look at them.

To be fair, in-game, even the dude-alike girls staring like mannequins into the void come to life and you stop noticing the weird wig effect.

This is true. The mannequin effect is because almost every border of each hairstyle is a smooth line - there's no shorter hairs trailing off around the edges, if that makes any sense. Looks like you could just rip it off.

But I'm really not in it for the appearance customization :lol . Just funny to look at.

How is the Party Play side of the demo? Anyone fool around with it yet?

I played a ton of the first skate's demo and am probably going to pick this game up. After a few minutes, I'm having as much fun with this demo as the first, plus I like the dedicated vert section this time.

The framerate does make the game feel a lot better imo, and yeah the palette may be reduced but I think that's just due to the setting of the park. The ending video shows some much more colorful areas.

Just wondering, is that basically the full scope of the create-a-skater in terms of actual appearance (not including clothing?) Seems like that could use a lot more work, and the walking controls are pretty bad, I wouldn't rely too much on it.

I'm getting a lot of framedrops in the vert area, when the camera has to swing around. I don't really think about it that much, guess I'm still used to the sluggishness of Skate 1.

Demo is promising. Nice feel to everything, I like the change in rotation speed from flat. Fingerflipping out of grabs is really satisfying.

On the minus side, the lip transitions when you're in a vert area are still really janky, noticed this in the trailers as well so was prepared for this though. Too bad. Also, wallrides still look weird, wallplants will probably be more fun to try to work into lines.

I've played the demo a few times now and I'm liking it. Although the movement on foot is kind of awkward it's still pretty cool to run and jump into a slope and get som speed like that and then to a long grind. The character editing is far better than before too, even if the character always kinda look the same :)

Gonna pre-order this game.

If you turn around and look at the environment at the alphabet park in party mode, you'll agree that the level design is very dense, as opposed to skate1 where there's basically nothing on the streets and a curb here and there. And physics for movable objects add SO much to this.

I really hope the density is consistent throughout the game because I prefer it that way.

I'm also really intrigued by the grind locks spread around town. I'm assuming you're going to be running around with bolt cutters chopping them off. Could be bad considering how running feels, but I like the idea of using that as a kind of game progress.

I must admit I got really addicted to Skate when it first came out. Growing up in a town obsessed with the sport, I spent every free summer day as a kid either skateboarding or watching skate videos with friends. Now that Skate 2 is on the horizon, I thought it would be fun to make a skate video-style video part for my digital skater self.

It's a 4 minute long video. Gives you a look at various new areas in Skate 2.

I thought the demo rocked, but I'm a skate fanboy so my opinion is shit. I had a blast though. 60 fps are intsantly apparent the moment you start off. Smooth as butter. It does seem harder to pull off tricks, but it will take getting used to just like the first.

Man, you guys had me scared as hell. This demo is rad as fuck. Too short, but skating feels fantastic and the walk controls aren't as bad as some made them out to be.

Must buy.

Also, it looks fucking phenomenal. Just check out Slappy's new sign.

Is there another area? Back Alley Something? And if so, how do I get there?

It's where you start, just run back.

What the hell? When did that start happening?
I don't know, first time I saw it. Certainly better than blocking the video completely. And the user _should_ be able to fix this by replacing the audio track with some royalty-free song YouTube has in its database for this purpose.

when i drunkenly played this at 4am i thought they ruined it somehow....it felt strange. harder yet slightly more 'arcadey' in some ways and i hated the camera.

i just played it again and am relieved. it's awesome. :D

i still don't like some of the camera transitions when skating vert though.

How come I can't get passed the manual challenge?

I manual for like 15 seconds, but the challenge will not complete. It says I only have to do it for 2 seconds???

I don't quite know how I feel about this game yet. Need more time with it for sure.

Some impressions:

+ 60FPS is awesome!
+ New tricks are nice.
+ Looks great, less jaggies than original is nice.
+ Moving objects works great
+/- On foot. It works well if you use it properly. Tank feel is disappointing, however.
- The smoothness of Skate 2 makes going back to skate. painfully difficult. I really couldn't believe how choppy it was when I went back to it after playing the Skate 2 demo.
- My biggest disappointment (and perhaps it will resolve itself with more playtime) is the speed of the skating itself. Does anyone else feel like you can never get to the same top speed as the original? The problem with this is that the slower speed transfers itself to your line. I feel like I'm hitting grind rails at a much slower speed than the original. It also feels like the game is slowing down when I do a flip trick off a ramp, but it's actually the result of having less speed when I hit it. :\

Gonna play some more.

I missed the demo being live. Downloading now.

I'm really interested to see the tweaks but I think will have been Skate 2 was pipped to the position of best Skateboarding game a couple of months ago when TouchGrind was released. Most realistic interpretation of skateboarding in a game ever with the controls of that game, I've put in hours on my iPhone on it.

You do a manual by slightly pushing the right stick down and a nose manual by slightly pushing it up while you're moving. If you just stand on your tail or do a fake manual by pumping, it won't count.

Thanks, I did it all now.

For some reason I was trying to do essentially a half ollie, but it was still doing a manual but not counting it.
