The one where he goes "rawr!"? That boosts his defense. He can stack it three times. I forgot if he had to do it each round, though.
Yep, he has to do it each round. He gets a nearly 40% defense buff if he gets all three taunts off, so it's probably the most useful taunt buff in the game.

Max is 3 taunts and you get a 40% (13.3...% each) defense boost

You have to do it each round.

I think you mean Updo? Anyways, the main reason it bothers me is that I really want to focus on learning Peacock and Painwheel, but those two have no reliable reversals. Peacock has Bang L, but it doesn't help much. I want to learn Ms.Fortune, but her head games are too much for me right now. Maybe I should play her solo until I get a hang of her so I can add her to my team.
It's not like you need a reversal when you are playing Painwheel. Peacock on other hand doesn't benefit as much from Painwheel as an anchor.

This is just one of those unfortunate team combinations that even SG's custom assists can't fix. It kinda makes sense, though. No one in their right mind would think of giving Sentinel or Cable a really good invul reversal lol.
What does the SG team intend to do with the money they raise from the PC version of the game?
Probably stuff everyone else does when they get paid. Mai Tais for everyone!

I wonder if this first bit of news is why the team is willing to update the game 1 character at a time. I thought that was pretty extreme.

The certification costs were included in the chart. I'd wager it was more because :
  • they weren't even sure if they were going to be funded at all so they took it one character at a time
  • they need all their bandwidth to work on a single character (remember it's a very small team)
  • they can push a balance update with each character update on consoles
  • They need to conserve all the momentum they have and push it as much as possible. Being able to stay in the news cycle with character updates helps a lot for casuals.

I noticed the KaneBlueRiver thing two days ago, seems he's using Solobella.

Good to know the tourney won't conflict with my other games. Although it's hard to conflict with P4 this year =.=;

I doubt it, they had no way to know. The donation goals already included certification costs in them so they were ready to pay for the patches.

Edit: Yeah what Kioshen said.

Well Ravidrath already announced that some of the money they thought they were going to have to spend was suddenly freed up for the 2nd Mysterious Character (Beowulf)'s story mode. I assume that's the money that was freed up. :)

Story mode and stage. Can't wait for all the DLC to hit. By the end of it all the game will have 13 characters and 14 stages, even though we're at least a year away.

I wonder if the team will continue working on Skullgirls or if they'll move to something new like the poll hinted at.

I saw some of the work being done on Big Band a couple of days back and I thought it'd be neat if he has a couple of see through palettes like Squigly's. It might be cool to see his robotic looking movements under the coat.
Also for anybody that cares here's the details on SG's Evo side tourney. KaneBlueRiver seems to have taken interest in the game too.

At least it is not 7AM on a Saturday lol. Isn't KBR the dude who plays all "big body" characters? I can see him getting hyped for Big Band if that is the case.
Maybe they should
Yeah, I don't think they need that. Maybe you should consider adding a third character down the road.

A pretty good list showing the pros of doing one character at a time. It's a good way to keep the hype alive.
Maybe we'll get surprised with another character. ;)
Yeah, that probably isn't happening lol.

lol, yeah, really hoping I don't get the first morning pool on P4 or Marvel though, I'm not a morning person at all =.=

Although the 2 hour difference from my usual timezone should help things.

And yeah, that's him alright. I recall him getting along well with the guys here.

Yes, this was in fact the source of the mysterious $40,000.

This also obviously means that it's retroactive, too, if someone would like to inform Mr. Fish.

...is that confirmation that Double Fine was right in claiming that Microsoft (used to) charge $40k per update?

No.

Double Fine's figure was $30k in testing and $10k for patch submission fees.

We're planning on four patches, each of which was budgeted at $10k for patch submission and $20k for testing.

Full Xbox title doesn't equal XBLA. Also 40k is split into (XBL and PSN) x 4 characters.

Sony waives patch fees on patches that add new content, so we didn't budget for Sony patch fees.

Oh yeah I totally forgot about the testing fees ... my bad :x

I come to Skullgirls, and I bring all the belief and fanaticism of a Marvel minion with me.

We should find something for us. AzureJ has already taken Soldier so we'll have to find something else for Skullgirls fans hehe.

Big Bang the new MvC3 Sentinel ? Also the Squiggly square on the t-shirt has some unfortunate placement :/.

Salty Cupcakes changes: the bit of the stream you want it this one, and changes starts at 18 mins 45 secs.

Some of the notes:
Until Evo, the Salty Cupcakes stream will be using the PC version, via an Alienware Beefmachine lent to the team. (The PC will also be used to promo the PC version of the game at Evo).
Oh, and the PC version of the game is up and running, complete with Marvelous AQL logo.
PC version
Choice between 2D & 3D stage backgrounds (for slow machines, unsure if this will make the consoles),
Resolution options up to a full fat 1080p.
Borderless fullscreen is in.
Loading times depends on power, the faster the machine, the faster the load times are.
Language options are in.
Yes, keyboard is supported.
Beta will happen when a new desync is fixed and testing is finished. Hopefully, that should be by the end of this week/this weekend.

General
Movelist for Squigly is in.
First pass of the 3D version of River City Casino is in.
Squigly's specials now has names. Draugon Punch, anyone?
Throws are all named.

I'll let someone else detail the technical details.

S words...

Soldier doesn't fit the fanbase anyway. Other words coming to mind are not GAF appropriate...

Thanks for all the SC notes!

TECHNICAL CHANGES (27th)

1) Everyone's hitstun hitboxes are now the same as their idle hitboxes, which adds consistency to combos that previously were inconsistent.
2) Air hitstun boxes now include all the hitstun boxes that were hittable in any frame of it previously. Again, more consistency and less whiffing.

CEREBELLA

1) Projectile invincibility on Kancho has been made as invincible as it used to be before they buffed it. For example, it can no longer go through all of Parasoul's bike super.

DOUBLE

1) Double's normal jump has not changed, but her super jump has been returned to how it used to be. This change means her normal and super jumps are now really similar.

SQUIGLY

1) All of her jumps are coloured now! :D
2) More effects!
3) More damage on her standing normals!
4) The charged version of spear is projectile invincible. :D
5) The charged version of tremolo now seeks out the opponent.
6) Sing has been modified so she ends up in the middle of the screen more often. Also, the effect of the freeze has been increased by 35 frames on both versions.
7) MOAR SOUNDS

Basically, not much this week for character changes.

Down some coffee and make it happen. You only get to do this once a year after all. ^.^
I come to Skullgirls, and I bring all the belief and fanaticism of a Marvel minion with me.
I was gonna make a wisecrack about minions, but Children of the Skull like myself aren't known for neutrality. I made minions look tame several times during the first year of SG's life.
I'm gonna end up using Skullgirls posters for wallpaper...

The PC version is so good. The load times are basically the same speed as old arcade games from the nineties or GGPO emulated ports with no slowdown. The 2D and 3D background options are also sick. I may choose 2D on occasion since it looks so good.

So what's the easiest way for a mac owner to play PC SG without spending money one extra software to play it?

Since the Mac port is being done by a volunteer, I have no idea what the timeframe for it would be like.

I will say that I can run the game pretty much perfectly in Parallels on my 2011 Macbook Pro.
