Sony & Activision couldn't be that tone deaf, right? If they're smart, they keep this out of the conference entirely.

Sony & Activision couldn't be that tone death, right? If they're smart, they keep this out of the conference entirely.

Given that they dedicate a huge chunk of time to Destiny/CoD during their E3 conference even though most of the audience wants to see something else, I'd say they're incredibly likely to promote this during the conference.

I used to think we were getting a new Crash, but now I'm certain all we did was encourage Activision to give him the Spyro treatment.

This really, really doesn't strike me as meaning Crash isn't getting a new game. Quite the opposite. It's yet another sign.

As a long time crash fan
Id like to see how good this skylandefs game is never played one before :x

Don't listen to most of the negative reactions. Skylanders plays very much like old school platforming games with the added figures granting new "characters". It's a lot of fun I feel, lots of silly and wacky scenarios with a pretty stellar group of voice actors. Essentially, each figure is a "life", when the health is gone for that figure, they're incapacitated for the rest of the level, and you'll have to switch in with a new one. You might not go through many if you're playing on easy or Medium difficulties, but the harder you make it you might be going through a lot of characters.

Relatively speaking, you can complete the game entirely with what's in the box. However, if you want to 100% the game, you'll need characters of every element as well as whatever the gimmick of the game is (After the first one anyways).

The team behind each game changes, Skylanders: Spyro's Adventure was worked on by Toys for Bob (the creators of the franchise), Giants was also worked on by TFB, but the Wii U edition was handled by Vicarious Visions (who previously worked on the 3DS version of SSA), Swap Force was Vicarious Visions, Trap Team was TFB, Superchargers was VV, and now Imaginators is also TFB.

Relatively speaking, Giants is my favorite of the games because of how polished it was in terms of using figures and gameplay. Swap Force was ok, TT wasn't that great and the figure requirement was crazy. Superchargers has been relatively good because of sales, and I'm expecting Imaginators to be the same.

If you're interested, most stores (namely Target) usually has the starter packs on sale, and Five Below usually has figures on sale..for $5 (even triple packs!). Similarly, many retailers also have used figures on sale for a fraction of the new price. I think Superchargers actually has a free digital version with "Instant" versions of the starter pack characters for you to try but I dunno if it's still offered or not.

Likely, Crash is going to be in an exclusive starter pack for Sony, similar to how Donkey Kong and Bowser were in ones for Nintendo.

Don't get your hopes up guys, it could end up being like Young Conker in the end.

Dragon Ball is back.
Shenmue is back.
The Incredibles are back.
STAR WARS is back.

But Crash? No, that is too much for this life, right God?

All this says to me is that Crash is coming back with a new game. Why re-introduce the character to return after all these years and include him in the game if a proper Crash reboot game isn't happening? I expect we'll see Crash in some form at Sony's E3 conference probably with a new game for PS4. Believe.

In my view, taking everything together, I have strong reason to believe that we will see something Crash-related very soon. The most damning evidence is indeed the
Uncharted 4 appearance
, but in between the Crash sign, Layden's shirt, Lex Lang's Facebook post and the Skylanders Crash Pack, it's hard not to think this way.

The Uncharted 4 cameo is a brilliant business move, for the reason being that it appears early in the game, and you *have* to play it twice to progress any further. Uncharted 4 sold 2.7 million copies within the first week of its release, and every single one of the people that bought it had to play Crash TWICE. It's practically targeting the people who grew up on the Sony consoles.

Sony knows full well that people want to see Crash Bandicoot return to form, and they're not oblivious enough to think a Skylanders role will quench the fans' thirst. In fact, it's very likely that the Crash Edition exists mostly to promote something else. The new Skylanders game will introduce the character to younger audiences, all in an attempt to promote general interest in a new Crash game since Activision killed the vibe and let it be in limbo for eight years. The interesting thing about it is that it's not coming out on anything but the PlayStation 4, which was something that was also mentioned by the Singapore retailer earlier. Why is this interesting? Well, if you've been keeping up with the news, you'll know that there are strong indications that Sony might own Crash now. This would explain why the Crash Edition is limited to their console, as opposed to the other editions, which are multiplatform releases. This wouldn't be a first for Skylanders — both Bowser and Donkey Kong previously appeared in Skylanders Superchargers Racing, but only on Wii U and Nintendo 3DS, since they are, after all, characters owned by Nintendo. This could be a similar case.

In theory, they're PUSHING Crash by sticking him to their big sellers. It's a clever way to reintroduce Crash to a whole new crowd, at least that's what I think.

Well said snurb.

Great post. You said what I was thinking but better than I ever could.

Last years PS4 Disney Infinity and Lego Batman exclusive DLC throws a rather huge wrench at your theory.

After watching the Crash Easter egg in U4, I'm convinced SIE may be working on a Crash game for 2017. With that said, this Skylanders Crash Edition thing is a terrible idea. It will be funny to see a Mario, Crash and Sonic game all debut in 2017.

Did I ever SAY it was? I said that there MIGHT BE strong possibilities they would own it with what I stated above.

I just don't see it. Why would Activision sell off their own IP when they plan to use it in Skylanders? We also would have heard about it by now, in an era of leaks something like that would have come out for sure. For the
UC4 Cameo to have put in because Sony owned the IP and were planning a game they would have had to have bought it last year at the latest.
Also there's no reason for Sony to explicitly lie and say they didn't own the IP if they did actually own it.

I honestly believe Sony just bought a license to use the IP, not the IP itself. It'll be similar to how Sony and Universal worked together to bring us the first three Crash games.
