Skylanders SuperChargers |OT|

Thanks! That helps a lot.

Is their anyway to tell Trap Masters from others? Or do I just need to look them up? I'm probably going to buy a bunch of used figures, so I won't have any packaging to go off of.

I was thinking of legendary not platinum (been playing too much Wonderful 101 lately). Guessing they are just special edition version of characters.

Legendary characters have better stats compared to their normal versions.

Just use a character list to look for the characters you wan, like this one:

I didn't think it was worth making a new thread about this, I have a general question.

As someone who hasn't played any of the Skylanders games, is an adult, and likes 3D platformers, which one is a good start? I got Giants for $10 CAD and I have Swap Force on the way for $12 CAD and I'm wondering if I should keep one, the other, both, or find the better version of the game.

I'm not looking to invest heavily into this, but I am curious about these toys-to-life games and they look like decent platformer games.

Thanks!

Keep Swap Force! Wii U, 360 or PS3 versions.
It was the turning point of the series not only on visuals, but on overall quality.

I was killing time in TRU yesterday and noticed they had 3 Splat figured in stock. Picked one up because I like her unusually vibrant design.

Can't find any info on her actually releasing yet, though. Did I just get lucky? When is her vehicle set to release?

Lots of retailers aside from Toys R Us seem to be cutting off orders for these figures, and don't seem to have anything past Wave 2, and I'm starting to think we'll not even see a lot of the unreleased figures or vehicles anywhere but TRU at this point.

Hmm, I want Splat; gonna look around.

But yeah...and is not surprising. But in a way is has to do more with the space and competition than just Slylanders.

Toys R Us has a deal with Activision since the first game and they do have plenty of space to accomodate and move around stuff. Most retailers don't hace that luxury. They won't put them in the toys, section because they're considered as gaming accesories and their game sections are usually small or just a hall and cramped with software, hardware and accesories from multiple manifacturers.

Gamestop is technically the only pure gaming retailer, but they don't have enough space to accomodate Skylanders, Infinity, Dimensions and amiibo.

So, most stores will just get whatever they get and put it out. Outside preorders, they won't be ordering additional ones to just have out there.

Just a heads up for NA PSN users; the Flash Sale live now has both PS3 and PS4 versions of SuperChargers Digital version (Instant Hot Streak and Spitfire included, needs portal for it to work) at 29.99.

This is a great deal, as if you get sea and air rides, you can access the full game (everything content wise) at a low price point. This is far cheaper then other skylanders games (accessing everything in Swap Force and Trap Team is very pricey), so highly recommend giving SuperChargers a shot if you own PS Platforms :D.

Yep. And as a note, you need a non SuperChargers portal to access the digital Skylander and vehicle. The moment you plug a SuperChargers portal, you can't use them.

The overall best portal is Trap Team's as it's compatible with the previous games and SuperChargers.

SuperChargers' portal is not compatible with Trap Team, but is with the older ones.

I have a question about whether I'm set for accessing everything. I'm getting the Wii U and 3DS starter packs and a Sea Shadow vehicle. This gives me land (DK's vehicle I assume) air (Bowser's?) and sea, and thus access to most of the content, correct?

Yep. Outside some random challenges that require vehicles of specific elements, which are just optional...

...you're set to basically 3-star every level from the beginning. Just with a land vehicle you can play the entire game.

I feel that at least you can do everything with just three vehicles which makes it less money hungry than Trap Team.
The Wii/3DS version seems to require all vehicles to 100%, which is pretty greedy.

This is why I pick this up at Thanksgiving sale (can't beat $34.99 + 10 gift card). Trap Team really turn me off because all the unlock and I almost skip this one. I am glad they come to their sense this year. I never finish Trap Team because I was too annoy with everything lock behind the paywall.

They really need to up their quality though, Disney and Amiibo both look beautiful and look nice even when you just display them as display pieces and LEGO is well LEGO, but Skylanders still look like something you find in bargain store toys aisle.

Ayy..finally picked up the game the other week from TRU's sale...and beat it.

Dong and his ride are great, and I had Nitro Stealth Stinger early on (plus the other two alt deco guys) so I had quite a bit of fun. I picked up Sea Shadow from Walmart's sale so I'm gonna be set for that.

I really enjoyed the game, moreso I think than Trap Team. It felt like so much stuff was hidden behind gates in that game and just turned me off until I started buying up traps and figures and stuff like crazy just to mostly complete it...except for that dang Sunscraper Spire ;-;

Sorry if this question's been covered, but how does the character/vehicle roster for the 3DS version of Superchargers work?

Do you just scan them in once and then can use them at any time? Do you need to update the figures on a regular basis? Will there be any weird conflicts if I, say, scan in Gill Grunt and then my little sister goes and uses him with the Wii U version and levels him up some while I'm also racing as him on the 3DS?

We've only done Skylanders on consoles before but I ordered the 3DS version from Amazon during their sale today, mostly for Bowser and his vehicle, but I'd just like to know how the game works before diving in when it gets here in a week or so.

In the 3DS, yeah. You just scan them once and play. Then whenever you want to update the figure you just scan it again.

Regarding data stored on figures. Using your example, if you level him up on 3DS and you sister does the same on Wii U, when you scan it back on 3DS it will tell you is a different/duplicate data and if you want to overwrite it.

...is there a Spyro figure for superchargers yet?

Cause seriously. he's been taken out of his own god-damn game series...

He isn't in the game at all in terms of new playable characters, but to be fair, the other four-legged characters aren't focused in the game either.

I feel that due to the driving focus, they pushed humanoid characters more. Characters from past installments like Jet-Vac, Roller Brawl, Trigger Happy, Pop Fizz, Terafin, and Stealth Elf all got new variations with Superchargers; they all come from the first three installments.

I'm sure Spyro will get a new version for the sixth game, as every game but Superchargers got a new version:
-Spyro's Adventure: Normal, Dark and Legendary Versions
-Giants: Series 2 Version
-Swap Force: Mega Ram Spyro, Dark Mega Ram Spyro
-Trap-Team: Eons Elite Spyro, Spry (Mini Version of Spyro)

Okay, thanks. Sounds easy enough to work with. I was honestly expecting it to be more restricted and much more of a hassle so this is a relief.

Just gotta pick out a few extra vehicles and figures to throw together as part of the Christmas present for my lil sister and we'll be good to go.

And is not like they've forgotten about Spyro, he's basically the first Skylander that appears during the intro in SuperChargers. :p

I still enjoy using Spry in SuperChargers. XD

Since people have been asking for Crash the last several years to reappear on a Playstation platform, how cool would it be come with the 6th game that Activision allows the dev team to add him as an exclusive PS4 character like Bowser was on the Nintendo platforms for Superchargers.

I think that would meet with the same initial burning backlash that Spyro received.

Also, it should be noted that Activision, for whatever reason, insists on Crash not being in Skylanders. When asked about it, they consistently say "He's not the same kind of character" and things along those lines. It would lead one to believe they have separate plans for Crash, at some point, or are trying other things with him.

I find it odd with Activision though since he's been sitting dormant without a game release for years. With the Toys to Life genre lower in sales this year, especially with Superchargers, they'd be smart to use him as a trojan horse. There are a lot of people that would buy his figure if they can to play him in a Skylanders game.

Some nice offers at Gamestop this saturday only, as part of their usual Skylanders Day.

-All standard editions of SuperChargers at $37.
-All Dark Editions of SuperChargers at $60.
-Free standard edition of any of the previous games with purchase of standard or dark exition of Superchsrgers.
-Buy 1 get 1 free on all SuperChargers characters and vehicles.

Pretty excited for Missle-Tow Dive Clops...i really enjoy the Alt-Deco guys.

Today I was browsing around Target and saw they had a bunch of Giants figures on sale; Cores were $4.98 (which is cheaper than Five Below's current price) and Giants are $7.98 (Only saw Ninjini)

One of the Battle Packs for Giants was $12.98 which isn't too bad either. Pretty nice deal if you wanna pad out your collection some more.

Wasn't exactly sure how to google this so thought I'd ask here:

Is this like Swap Force where you put the figure on the portal once to "scan" them and you can then use the figure in the game without keeping it on the portal? Do vehicles work the same way? I got the SuperChargers starter pack (PS4) for my 5 year old, and given his experience with Swap Force I can say he tends to lose figures from time to time.

Edit: It appears that the console versions require you to have the character on the portal in order to use them. I should note that we have Swap Force on the 3DS where this wasn't the case. Oh well, time for him to learn some organizational skills.

The 3DS version does work like that other 3DS version (scan them in and it keeps them in your 'roster') but yeah this works like the other console versions where you need the figure on the base while you're playing as them.

Got the $10 coupon from Guitar Hero so I might bite on the sales at GameStop. I got Fiesta on a whim on Black Friday because he looks cool, but any other characters I should look out for? Does supercharging vehicles matter enough to only seek out the ones that have matching vehicles?

"At Skylanders Academy (the game's hub world), the Great Grizzo guards an Element Gate that leads to a vehicle challenge for each of the 10 elements. Assuming the land, sea and air vehicles you own are different elements, you now need to buy an additional seven vehicles, making sure you have each element covered."

I knew it was too good to be true: content is stuck behind elemental vehicles. Fuck you Activision.

That was known since release and are just random/timed challenges that reward you with Stardust (so your portal master rank goes up).

Quite a random post to "fuck Activision". :p

Aren't there challenges locked behind the specific character/vehicle Supercharged combos too? You need the whole line of Superchargers and vehicles if you want to 100% the game

which is a good reason to not worry about 100%ing the game

All the Superchargers characters have vehicles, though not all of them are out yet. As far as characters, just get the ones you think look cool. Supercharging gives the vehicles boosted stats and special appearances, but it's not essential to the game unless you're trying to be as optimal as possible or get 100% of everything. On the skylanders website you can view the whole roster of this and previous games, complete with little videos that show off what everyone does in-game.

If you want to pick up some Skylanders cheap though, Gamestop is still doing a Buy 2 Get 3 Free deal for their used toys-to-life figures. Hit up your local store and grab 5 or 10 that look cool for way less than you'd normally have to spend.

The final boss for this game is rough on Nightmare mode. I went out and bought more skylanders and still didn't beat him.

It's all about driving through every ring. If you miss even one, you basically lose all your momentum and won't be able to reach him before the track resets again. Having a few traps help too (I had the couple that came with Trap Team) since it gives your car attacks that do a lot of damage when you are able to fire at him.

I never knew that. I thought all you needed was a Skylander and the three vehicle types to unlock everything. I thought MAYBE elemental stuff was based on the Skylander not the vehicle.

I would never recommend anyone 100% the game, but it can be worth buying a certain number of figures to unlock content. Getting all the Swap Force abilities for example is worth it IMO.

I'm seeing the new wave pop up in retail stores. Picked up a Splat for my little sister's big ol' Superchargers christmas bundle but I'm curious if anyone thinks any other new ones are worthwhile.

How's the sky racing set and the light element guy in that? And is that new Pop Fizz as fun as his sculpt makes him look? Because that might be my favorite toys-to-life figure of any franchise

Hey guys,

I'm getting the Skylanders Superchargers Starter Pack (PS4) for my girlfriend for christmas.

What else should I get and buy to access all the available content? Are there additional content packs worth getting? :)

Thanks!

My understanding so far in the game is that to get all the "stars" in each level you need to have a land vehicle (comes with the game) and an air and sea vehicle. Matching the vehicle to the driver for a Supercharge is not inherently necessary, from my experience the most you get is a slight damage boost in the vehicle.

As far as the additional content packs, that I'll leave up to others as I have studiously avoided them so far.

The packs with trophies add extra tracks for racing mode, as well as extra vehicles (and playable villains) for that mode. If you're only interested in sticking to the main adventure they might not be worthwhile.

But you could get the game itself + Air Bundle + Sea Bundle and have all three types of vehicles covered as well as their superchargers and two playable villains and extra tracks. So it's not a bad idea!

Not sure if you still need your question answered but Nightfall is super fun. I'm not sure about Pop Fizz since I just picked him up tonight in order to complete wave 3 and haven't played with him yet.

Just received this today. game looks awesome. Vehicle gameplay and races are great fun.

Air and sea vehicle on their way to me. Thinks that's all I'll be buying but seems to unlock the vast majority of gameplay.

So, picked up the 3DS Superchargers Starter Pack today at Argos for £20 (bargain).

The cartridge doesn't allow download play, so 2 carts required.

The game isn't on the eShop, so I can't buy it there.

So for local multiplayer, you have to buy 2 starter packs? With all the duplicate figures, and an extra useless portal?

They haven't really thought this through.

I would have bought two starter packs at that price, and traded in the spare figures, but Argos only had one left, and I can't find another starter pack at a price I'm willing to pay just for a copy of the cart.

Stupid.

(the racing is good though)

Just a heads up. you can get Donkey Kong w/vehicle or Bowser w/vehicle separate now for $25 each. My local Wal-Mart had them.r

That's weird. Were they in an official packaging, UPC and everything? May be a Wal-Mart exclusive I guess. But really weird that there wasn't any announcement.

Yup. With a nice, big "Works on Nintendo systems only" label slapped on the front. Totally official.

Just got the game for Christmas for the kids. I have the stealth chopper and submarine. What will the other vehicles grant me access to if I already have a land, water, and air vehicle?

Nothing basically.
You can 3-star every level just with one land, sea and water vehicles.

Challenges with specific vehicles just give more points to the Portal Master rank. So, it's basically for completion and collection's sake.

I just bought Skylanders SuperChargers Racing Starter Pack for 3DS on Amazon for 28 $ -last piece from that seller-.
I really wanted that Hammer Slam Bowser, & I thought buying this would be much better than the amiibo pack.
I know NOTHING about the Skylanders franchise nor the game coming with this pack.
Is there anyway I can get some general info? Is the 3DS game a decent one?
Just trying to understand how good this pack I bought is : )

Unlike the previous 3DS games, Superchargers on 3DS (and Wii) is strictly a racing game. So, see it as something lie Mario Kart, though it plays more like Diddy Kong Racing with the different vehicles.

Is a good game, but not indicative of the console versions, which are well done quite polished Diablo/Gauntlet-like games for the most part. Grinding, loot, high production values, really great games.

3DS game is atill a good purchase and even better at that price.
