Skyrim: New(er) Screenshots and Previews

The game is REALLY dark at night. Can't see anything. Don't remember it being this dark in MW or oblivion.
I think that's just the stream. But yeah it's pretty dark.

I'm just amazed at how much improved the art is in this area. It just gives you this exhilarating feeling that you are free to do anything and explore anywhere. Something that's certainly lacking in other games these days. I'm back on the hype train. :)

I will not spoil myself, I will not spoil myself, I will not spoil myself, I will not spoil myself, I will not spoil myself.

Bah, this game will have so much to do and see that I'm not concerned at all about being spoiled. I'm soaking in every bit of info I can for the next week and a half.

What bothers me is that I still can't decide what kind of character I want to play. I really think I'm going with a straight mage. Hopefully a mage is a better experience than it was in Oblivion, because I found playing mages kind of boring last time around.

Good news: The stream is encoded in HTML5 so I can watch it on my iPhone.

Bad news: Shitty 3G connection only gives me 30 to 60 seconds of video before it drops to audio only.

But my god... DAT SOUNDTRACK.

Ugh dude just play the game.

You already have almost 1000 viewers, you're a dead man walking, just show as much as possible before big bad beth come a knockin.

ah i thought there were reviews stating its ugly

Nah, sorry, I meant everybody talking shit on GAF lately because the graphics and animations aren't up to Battlefield 3's level. No shit, idiots. It's an open world game. It looks, relatively, amazing.

And the music is awesome.

1000 People watching a guy stare at his friends list hoping he switches back to fucking Skyrim...

At least the music is lovely.

I can't wait to mod this fucker up. Need to do a beer hall or tavern somewhere. Get some scripting going so I have to throw rowdy drunks out several times a night.

This on top of having some nice wide open areas to put down a nice house and basement.

I hope the live stream OP is using a dummy XBL account. If it's his main... I hope he enjoys the inevitable ban.
As long as he has a retail copy and didn't pirate it he won't get banned. Microsoft doesn't ban for playing early retail releases early.

I really hope there's some old, abandoned log cabin in the woods somewhere that I can claim.

I don't think that's the case. While it seems a couple people might have retail copies somehow the game has definitely leaked on torrent sites which seems a much more likely way for these streamers to have gotten it.

Wow, what a horrible streamer. He was eating for a lot of it, and apparently just sitting on his friend's list for a while. I'm glad that stream got taken down.

Yeah I hope it's not like we can only own houses that are in or near major cities. I too want a cabin in the middle of nowhere. I'm also concerned that there won't be any "middle of nowhere" in this game because they want to make everything so 'interesting' with landmarks and locations and stuff. I didn't think the huge plains or empty woods in Oblivion was necessarily a bad thing.

I hope someone with an early copy updates the wiki, so I can look at the skill trees and the types of spells and armor well I wait for the game.

I'll make it if its not.

All told on the stream, I loved what I saw. Its not as advanced gameplay wise past Oblivion as some would want, but the visuals and environment were my key concerns. And on that note, it looked fantastic. More voices for NPCs and great music. I mean, best music in a game I've heard for a while. Animation is still a bit janky at times, but don't believe the haters, it HAS improved.

Given that stream, there seems to be plenty of wide open area. Doesn't seem crowded at all.

Snow looks really nice. Love the look to it. Hope they kept rain is as well though.

Russian one has the guy currently in the same dungeon Todd Howard did the demo in. I'd recommend it on that case for lack of spoilers perhaps?

also he's actually doing stuff.... thank god

Does anyone know anything about discdirect.com? I'm trying to find an early copy and dd has it for 45 dollars but it doesn't say when it ships

Oh sweet! Minor Spoiler
Looks like the necromancy is actual necromancy. Casting Summon Zombie reanimates a dead body. In the stream, he used a scroll to animate a dead bandit.

Has anyone seen how the questlog is activated? is it through the map screen?

Nope, its from the main menu. Four options and Quests is one of them. Others are Skills, Map, and Inventory.

EDIT: And now an actual puzzle and trap. Hope we get more of that in these dungeons.

Combat music is really nicely done. Not all the time, but for big fights it shows up. Not for every fight like a wolf or two.

EDIT: Oh Goddamn!!
They aren't kidding around so far with traps. Swinging spike door was a nasty surprise.
