Combat still looks like shit, I think I'll be sticking with my pew-pew mage.

Has a full talent tree been shown for Destruction/etc btw?

According to the ES wiki

* More damage for each school (fire, frost and shock) – ranked
* Novice for 50% magicka etc.
* Shock damage chance to disintegrate targets if their health is under 10%
* Frost damage chance to paralyse targets if health low
* Fire damage chance to make low health enemies flee
* Place runes 5x farther away
* The ability to dual wield destruction spells

It's all Breckon's fault.

Heh. I was glad to see footage that wasn't sub-SD at least. The game doesn't deserve to be presented that way.

We've got lots more little looks coming up in the next week. Stay strong.

Watched a little of the stream. Hype +1 MILLION now!

It's so close, yet so far away...

11/11/11, my birthday, Skyrim day, and the beginning of a 2 week vacation. Sometimes, life is good.

Damn, that's very nice. Thank god it comes out on a friday!

You have to understand how excited watching good quality streams gets everyone. Low quality streams are definitely bad publicity, but good quality ones like this one do nothing but good for the game. As you can tell by the last couple of pages in the thread.

Is there a launch trailer coming out soon? I need my fix!

In this kind of game I generally like to play a pure mage (no melee whatsoever). I struggled a bit with this approach in Oblivion (especially when the enemies leveled up with me).

Given what is known about Skyrim, should I be able to play this type of character in without too much trouble?

People spoiling it for themselves. Makes me sad.

Eh, I'm as anti-spoiler as anyone, I usually avoid this stuff like the plague, but this is a massive game. I don't feel like me watching 5 minutes of the early game is going to hurt anything in the long run.

I put in over 350 hours into Oblivion on multiple platforms, despite spending a bit watching pre-release vids and such.

I have no Willpower what so ever, that's why I was so glad they weren't showing much of the game off before release.

I just want some to make a full list of perks.

Ya, in fact, magic might end up being kinda overpowered.

Really is tempting to sneak a peek, but I'm gonna stay strong. Elder Scrolls don't come around very often.

Ratsofatsorat, still rolling an Orc?

The stream's are interesting.

So far the most noticeable things:
Mana and Health regen very quickly.
The first dragon is a push over (most enemies are to)
The shout have a short cd, and the cd is displayed on the compass.
The animation's are bad and the game is glitchy, as expected from a Bethesda game.

Combat looks very similar to Oblivion. I could sell this game better if you gave some details about why exactly you didn't like Oblivion's combat.

It's hard to describe, but I'll give it a shot. For me, VATS has a bit of weight - even when you have a crappy weapon, there is still a sense of impact from the shot/strike. I didn't get that with Oblivion.

Ah, who am I kidding? I'm totally gonna fall prey to the hype and order this thing.

It was a nice wake to check twitter this morning from bed and see that there was a stream online. I quickly got up and put it on.

Absolutely stunning to see in motion. I still think it's a bit of a shame that it leaked but I'd assume that the people who did watch it are now more certain that this game is going to take the world by storm.

Call me Nick. (In fact, can a mod just change my name to nickbreckon at this point? I would really appreciate that.)

And yes, Orc all the way. Big dumb orc with giant beard and giant two-handed hammer. Swinging those things at a full run is amazing.

Eh? The russian guy died like 3 times on the first enemy, they seemed pretty tough, even on normal. Mana didn't regen that quickly during combat, he was out of mana and had to switch to mace/shield because the mana wasn't coming back fast enough.

Lots of one-shot deaths I saw in two different streams. Animations look great, and I didn't notice any glitches. Mana regen is fairly quick, but meh.

The Russian Bro doesn't know what he is doing, at that time he didn't even had chosen any perk.

Really?
I saw him stand there for like 10 seconds at one point with barely noticeable health regen, he had to use a potion.

This is what I did with Oblivion on my first run. He ended up being a vampire Orc magic-user who used bows.

I think this time I'm going with Argonian uber-assassin type.

Mana regen definitely becomes more challenging to manage when you start using more powerful spells. The way the stat system works, you're putting a point into either health/mana/stamina every level. You can specialize in one at the expense of the others, etc.

Nice. Was thinking of going sword and board. Might have to play around with 2h to see whats up.

Yeah, that makes sense. I only saw it when he was using the basic fireball spell.

I basically use a 1h/shield setup as my alt setup. It's a much safer way to play, so if I'm hitting a dungeon that's tough I'll swap to it. Two-hand is more challenging (though you can offset this with armor perks), but man is it satisfying to connect on the swings.

I ALWAYS play 1h and shield, but you make 2h sound fun, so I'll have to give that a try in this game!

Dibella, lover of all good people, hear me now: that stream has made me three times, nay, five times the believer that I once was. I never doubted Skyrim, and you, with your grace and sagacity, provided me with wonder I surely did not yet deserve. So thank you, loving Dibella, for your gift.

Uh, yeah. After I take a cold shower (in Dibella's name), I have a loose-leaf page crammed full of notes to type up for those who missed the stream. bbiab, my, uh, mace of the crusader is... hard.

Even though I'm avoiding streams I'm getting some enjoyment out of just reading you guys' reactions and I'm glad to see how positive they are on the whole. Stuff like the graphics, voices and other tech stuff turning out pretty solid after all is reassuring.

so judging from the fact that this is undoubtedly still our favorite, beloved, and ever endearing Gamebryo engine... my computer will probably play it then? it plays Bethesda's gamebryo perfectly so far

Hey, the major one I saw was for the dungeon Todd Howard already showed in the Quake Con demo. I spoiled myself on relatively little.

This is my problem. Definitely starting with a barbarian type, but not sure if going Nord or Orc.

Yo nick, how does this play on the PC versions?

Hopefully you guys didn't lock that shit down in terms of mods or ini files or whatever. And hopefully it's not just a straight port but has an actual PC kb/m oriented menu system. And graphic settings.

I can't believe I even have to ask those things in 2011.

I'm kinda unsure why health regen is in the game.

I mean its not fast enough to help with combat, and it isn't fast enough to stop me from resting after every battle, or just using a healing spell and letting mana regen.

It doesn't really help at all.

Yeah, I didn't watch a single stream. I must admit, I'm quite proud of myself.

I would say the voices are really subpar, but not unexpected compared to Oblivion.
