Slave Zero X (PC,PS,Xbox,Switch) | 23 Years a Slave

For me, this is unexpected... and as of yet unexplained? But not uninteresting...

Somehow a new game is being made in the Slave Zero "franchise", a one-game brand of 3D mech combat in a futuristic city. (I remember that was going to be a big deal on the Dreamcast, spoken of in its time in previews as revolutionary with huge city-scale environments and some new rendering techniques... and then all I even knew was that the Dreamcast framerate sucked and there was a PC version too but neither caught on.)

Over two decades later, this Slave Zero sequel is in development at Poppy Works for Ziggurat. This is an odd take on a sequel IMO, with a kind of 2.5D viewpoint and fast humanoid motion (I don't think it's in a mech anymore, seems human-scale?) using stylish action combat gameplay similar to DMC. Surprising, but whether or not this works as a sequel to Slave Zero, Slave Zero X has a look and gameplay feel of its own and may be something to check out. Coming to PC and consoles; release date unknown.

(You can also get the old Slave Zero for PC on Steam, republished also by Ziggurat. It looks a lot more "normal" by comparison.)
