SlingTV - Dish Networks appeal to cord-cutters

Xbox One app has been giving me major issues lately (freezing, buffering, as well as somehow cutting to footage from a few hours ago). Not sure why.

I renewed also on Sunday, and get constant buffering on TBS for the NBA playoffs. It's gotta be bandwidth issues, but it sucks that it happens

The app was fine for me during March Madness. Wondering if it got an update that I don't know about.

When you sign up for the free month on Xbox, you can access it from any device right? Not just limited to the Xbox?

Edit: Answering my own question, but apparently yes you can

Service has been kinda shitty for the last couple of weeks. Lots of buffering, freezes or 'catching up'. This on both the iPad app and the XBOX One app.

Sorry I can't find the answer anywhere...

How many users on the same network can use a Sling TV subscription simultaneously?

So, um, I'm having this weird issue with Sling: I signed up in March using my Fire TV, which means all the billing is done through Amazon, not Sling. Well, after lots of stuttering issues, I cancelled, but here's the weird thing: I still have access to Sling on both my Fire TV and Xbox One. And I cancelled in April!

I can't figure out why I still have access. Sling doesn't show up on my Amazon account as a service I am subscribed to (Hulu does), and I can't find a single payment for $19.99 since April in my bank account.

Is it possible that through some technical issue, I'm getting Sling for free? It just doesn't make any sense to me.

I was hoping this thread was either bumped to reveal that the base price was going down or that they'd fixed their buffering/freezing issues.

I was actually fine paying $20/month mostly just for HGTV for the 4 or so months I had Sling, but I couldn't abide by all the technical issues.

FWIW, the Sling app on Fire TV doesn't have stuttering problems. The Xbox One app, however, is absolutely terrible.

Don't question things like this, just shhhh.

Nope, the issue is still there on Amazon's latest Fire TV. Constant stutters and freezes where I have to hit the home button and go back in. The freeze is annoying as hell because I'll be watching for 5-10mins and it happens again. Surprisingly it doesn't freeze on my iphone 6 plus, occasional stutter here and there though.

Canceled the service already but I still have 2 months left, will not be going back to Sling. The freeze just pisses me off. I should've listened to the warnings from other users. Will be going back to Playstation Vue. I'll sure miss watching Kung Fu flicks on El Rey network though.

Not loving the playback on Xbox one with this thing. I've had it about 2 months. Only channels I ever use are El Rey for the kung fu and Travel for Bizarre foods. I may be cancelling.

So Sling is just live television over your internet connection? I thought the main appeal of cord-cutting was switching to on-demand viewing which in theory should cost less since you are not paying for things you don't want. I assume it has no built in DVR features like the now defunct Aereo did?

Huh, I have never had any issues with Sling TV on an older Fire TV in regards to playback. The only issues I have had is having to open the damn app a couple times when it fails to open.

Since the latest update, I've not had a problem with Sling on my PC or iPad anymore aside from the occasional freeze, that takes a click of the pause button to fix.

I tried Vue, but didn't like that I couldn't watch programs based on the east coast time out here in the Mountain time zone like I can with Sling. Plus, I watch El Rey too much to give up Sling now.

I had issues with other apps (HBO Go) stuttering on the new Fire TV. I returned it and got a Roku 4, couldn't be happier.

Wow. I had no idea about this Beta package. Just switched my account. Screw ESPN, I want the Fox Sports channels for Royals baseball.

Has the service gotten any better with consistency? I tried a free trial a year ago for the first season of Better Call Saul but the way each network had different rules around pausing / on-deman / etc. was really confusing and irritating.

Even worse was that the UI didn't make it easy to tell which stations allowed for which features.

So is this beta package an add-on to a current package, or can it just take the place of the current subscription?

EDIT: Nevermind. I just called them and had it changed. I'm not really going to miss ESPN that much.

Cut Directv out and signed up today for the 3 month service. Free Roku that way, which I was planning on buying one soon.

Getting local Fox Sports is awesome, and the only channels I watch are on the service.

Looks like they added NFL Network to the Blue package.

If you have the Sports Extra package, you get NFL Redzone.

The more channels the better. A nice addition for the Football fan.
