This time, you can view replays. What this means is, the game records what you did in brawls or in Target Smash and lets you review it.

You can record about three minutes worth of replay data.

And it’s even possible to send replays of your most amazing times to Wii Friends! If you compete against each other, things will surely heat up.

Fire it off!

It feels great to use all of your knowledge and techniques to shave off a hundredth of a second. But you don’t have to do that to enjoy these features, so I hope you’ll give it a try regardless.

FUCK YES YES YES YESY ES SFDSDFDS
MEGATON

A target-breaking mode has appeared in every game in the Smash series. It’s a mode that challenges you to break ten targets within a given time limit – basically, a game for those who salivate at the thought of speed runs.

Break the targets!

The mode is set outdoors now, giving it a refreshing visual appearance. This time, there are five different maps of varying difficulty – challenges you can take on with your favourite character.

Each of the five maps is distinctive.

Some levels even have items that you may be able to use to cut your time even more.

Use all of your character’s skills to beat your own personal records!

This is the pause screen.

If you fail, you can pause the game and try again. You can also check out the level layout while paused.

There is another announcement I’d like to make simultaneously...

3 MINUTE RECORDINGS??!!SEND REPLAYS TO FRIENDS!

Im guessing that was the last Wi-Fi feature he wasn't showing us!

Woo! More games need that feature!

Maybe I'm just misinterpreting the text...but it seems to me like there are only five different Target Test stages. Does this mean they aren't custom made for each character anymore?

This actually kind of reminds me of the desert levels in Kirby's Dream Land 3. I'm positive this is a coincidence, though.

This game does everything right it seems. Whenever you think to yourself "it'd be sweet if they include this or that" they actually do.

I'm reading it as five different stages for each character. Which is awesome.

I'm glad the target break mode isn't so visually bland anymore.

Replays are awesome, I'm glad that's in. I hope you can pause in the middle of a replay to take pictures instead of having to do it through normal gameplay.

This was my interpretation as well.

It would be sweet if they launched a demo.

That's how I read it too, but that isn't so bad.

5 target tests per character??? awesome!

this will make unlocking everything hell :D

WRONG. Sounds to me like there's 5 target tests total, and target levels are not made specifically for a character. EPIC FAIL.

I definitely interpret it as there being only 5 maps total, not per character.

I like how Sakurai actually uses the term "speed run".

This man knows his audience.
In moonspeak it says time attack. He doesn't write the english version (and probably not even the japanese one)

Another stealth update too in the picture....I think...
Wario's Final Smash seems to be his "atomic fart" from the first E3 video...

IS there anything that Sakurai wont get in to Smash? Im just so honestly amazed at how much stuff hes craming into it.

Ummmmmm he probably won't get in a Dr. Mario Mode where you play Dr. Mario while your chosen character acts it out in battle form. But then who wants that (ok, so I think it'd be kind of sweet) And yes, Sakurai, if you are by ANY chance reading this that was a request.

That's how I read it as well, but I hope I'm wrong...

and there should be a site for uploading replays, not this 'send it to your friends' stuff :/

I got this impression as well... The wording especially makes me think this. 'Suppose it could be a translation subtlety... but eh...

This is one of those updates that sounds nice but I am sure I wouldn't really use that much sort of like online (replay). Damn, I could never get any of those targets almost ever.

:( On rereading the update, I'm gonna have to agree with the rest of you, seems like only 5 stages total (which would make sense, since none of the shown stages have any links to the characters in them. ).
