Krystal suffers from Sonic syndrome. Basically, she came in right when the series went downhill, and then gained legions of furry fans. There's nothing wrong with the character per se especially in comparison to others in the franchise. Really, it's just a rather stupid universe, Fox included. I'm for Falco but given that Krystal is perhaps more prominent within the series I can't begrudge Sakurai for putting her in if indeed he does even as Falco's replacement.

I would argue that the series starting to suck was a direct result of the Starfox franchise being shoehorned into Krystal's game. Krystal literally killed Starfox. Her joining and the series sucking are not unrelated.

Sakurai is acting like it is, but personally I don't think so.

I think that after Brawl Sakurai will go off and do his own thing. His prestige has increased dramatically thanks to Brawl, he can basically pick and choose his projects. After dicking around for a few years and creating a few more great games, the generation will be over. Then Nintendo will come calling for him to direct the next Smash Bros.

Characters do not make the game (in fact it works the other way around), the gameplay does and SFA was a piece of shit. It's really unrelated. If SFA was awesome then I don't think anyone would have a problem (Then again furries ruin everything).

The huge Goomba is pretty clear here, minus moustache & crown. The damage meter in the top-left isn't too legible here, but in motion it quite clearly reads "King Goomba". There are three identical enemies of this type that appear here one after another, so it doesn't seem to be a boss fight in the same way that the Petey Piranha battle is, but it could qualify, I suppose.

The name might have changed but if you look at the old 64 shots of Dinosaur Planet, it's clearly Krystal. It was her resemblance to Fox that inspired Nintendo to force Rare to make it a Starfox game. Like I said, the series' downfall was, in fact, Krystal's character design.

Oh no doubt that Nintendo bears much of the responsibility for allowing the series to continue to go to shit, but that doesn't change the fact that it all started with that blue fox design.
