yep... I keep switching back and forth... I don't care what anyone says, to have both these games released in such close proximity to each other makes this one of the greatest if not the greatest Nintendo year for me.

What Lakitu needs to do is suspend items overhead with a fishing pole, then nail any unsuspecting person going for the item with a Spiny Egg.

I am actually going to say Galaxy if only because the last truly amazing Smash game was in 2001 opposed the last truly amazing 3D Mario was in 1996.

When you play them, Galaxy will be more amazing for hours 0-8. Brawl will be more amazing for hours 8-400 and beyond.

Damn, this has been an awesome week so far. Even the item update has been sweet.

And since I missed out yesterday, all I'm going to say about the Snake update is HELL YES, I am so glad the impact sounds for attacks are sounding more like the 64 version.

One will be amazing for like 20 hours. The other will be amazing for 475.

I don't know; I certainly didn't spend 50 hours on Sunshine. Maybe on Mario 64 if counting both the N64 and DS versions.
Impossible to argue the other part of the fix, though. >_>
 
Speculation time:

I was noticing how all of the characters at the dojo are in rows of 4. I'm guessing the final number of characters will probably be divisible by 4, like 36 or 40. So we'll probably have 20 veterans and 16-20 newcomers. If that's true then we are still missing 8 veterans. My guesses: Mewtwo, Game and Watch, Falco, Ganondorf, Ness (or Marth), Captain Falcon, Jigglypuff, and Luigi.

That would leave 7 - 11 new characters that we know nothing about!

I really hope so. At the very least they will fill the bottom row of Newcomers, so that's 3 more Newcomers announced before the game releases. Then add at least one more row of Veteran Fighters, which makes a minimum of 7 character updates before December 3.

The 7 figure would also correspond pretty closely to our character ratio... In 97 update days we've gotten 21 characters, or one character for every 4.6 days. We have 42 update days left, so roughly 9 characters going by past trends--or so it would seem, but the past trends were also tilted somewhat because of the Mario + Link and Pikachu + Kirby double updates. Getting 7 or 8 more characters by November 30th seems probable to me.
 
I was at work when the Snake video and codec stuff was posted, so I didn't get to watch it.

Checked them out last night.

OMFG love the codec stuff! Same voice actors?
I LOVE how the frequencies are the same! (At least, I remember them as being the same).
Can't wait to see Snake's codec call on Snake.
 
And of course Sakurai is saving the most popular Newcomers for last.

Got a feeling tomorrow we're gonna see either a move set or a final smash for Peach... Still I'm hoping for Punch Out!! or StarTropics stuff. Mike Jones even if you make him a Ness clone!!!
 
Mike Jones would rock pretty hard with his gun and his yo-yo and... everything else he did that I don't remember. It's been too long since I've played Star Tropics. :(
And maybe his Down B could disguise him as Michelle since every fighting game needs some kind of It's A Trap character.

You know, I never played Star Tropics so I decided to read up on it a few days ago.

It's a first part game, by Nintendo, developed by japanese developers..

...only released in the US and Europe? Wtf? I really didn't understand that. Is it one of those games where they made one version to appeal to them and one version to appeal to us (like Oendan/JP only and Elite Beat Agents/US-EU only)

I'd be surprised to see Falco, Mr. Game & Watch, Roy, and Mewtwo.

I'd be extremely surprised (and a bit upset) if Dr. Mario, Pichu, and Mewtwo are back.

EDIT: Yeah, I agree with the consensus that Ridley will be a boss character, along with (obviously) Petey Pirahna. I'm betting King Dedede will also be a boss character and not playable. And for my last prediction I'm going to go a little out of limb here - Andross' post-SNES design will be a boss character, despite him being an assist trophy.
