No there aren't. Just counting SSBM characters, we haven't gotten Captain Falcon, Ness, Luigi, Ganondorf, Jigglypuff, Falco, Sheik, Young Link, Mewtwo, Mr. Game and Watch, Marth, Dr. Mario, Pichu, or Roy. Even assuming half of those characters get cut (which seems like a high estimate to me), that's still seven more character slots.
And that would still be assuming that all newcomers had been revealed, which is probably not safe to assume. So in reality it's more like 10+ character slots left.
What exactly have you been "checking"? The Pokemon Trainer model is from Fire Red/Leaf Green, and Squirtle/Ivysaur/Charizard are all first-generation Pokemon.
This isn't to say that Jigglypuff will return. I'm dead afraid that she won't (though I was also biting my nails every day for SSBM until I found out she was back), but just saying that the Smash Bros. series hasn't shown an inclination to use D/P Pokemon, so that's not a strong reason.
Actually, Pokemon has been the SSB series that seems most resistant to getting new characters from the new games. SSBM added a third R/B character in addition to the G/S character, and now it's SSBB and we've basically gotten three more R/B characters. This is as compared to, say, Legend of Zelda, where Link's moves are updated to Twilight Princess standards, or Mario, where FLUDD's brought in, etc.

if you read the sentence PREVIOUS to the one you bolded, you would know. Also, the fire red/leaf green Pokemon Trainer thing has nothing to do with what I was talking about :| Why not try to understand what I'm saying before commenting on it? Jigglypuff and Pikachu's significance only stems from the anime. If it wasn't for the anime, Pikachu would have been among the least important pokemon out there, with the rest.Jiggy37 said:What exactly have you been "checking"? Because I didn't want to upset the Sonic fans here and cause a shitstorm.ElFly said:Why didn't you post it here? It's awesome.

And as mentioned before, the sound effects are PERFECTION

I wish that meant an earlier than expected release date. Sakurai did say there was only a little development left.

That's exactly what I believe, but I don't think fronn was trying to suggest that by saying there were "only a couple character slots left."Insaniac said:couldn't we also strongly believe that some newcomers will be unlockable and thus not revealed on the site till after the release?
Same sentiment here.Scribble said:I'm glad Sakurai and the Smash Team have their head screwed on when it comes to this. The original 151 have a legacy, and EVERYONE probably knows them off by heart. I'm extremely happy that they don't seem to be going the "let's represent one pokemon per generation for the hell of it" route.
Okay, I misunderstood what you were talking about by "it." I was tracing back two sentences, thinking you were talking about Smash Bros. Sorry.Darkpen said:if you read the sentence PREVIOUS to the one you bolded, you would know. Okay, look, get this through your head: SONIC HAS ALWAYS BEEN HIP AND COOL LIKE THAT. ALWAYS.
Why do you think his animations are the way they were back on the old Sega systems? To differentiate himself from Mario. If anything, Mario's the one who has always been "mature,"and by "mature" I mean totally emotionless except for death.
For christ's sake, Sonic actually had "character," albeit one dimensional.
It was Sonic's attitude and differentiation from Mario that made him stand out from the crowd. His idle animation of tapping his foot, his shacking of his finger in the opening title screen, everything screamed attitude. The cartoons only added to that.

Actually you're on to something there. Atleast this Sonic is lame as hell and brings the coolness of Smash down a notch.Yoboman said:Sonic's the name speed's my game
Ugh... They really brought him and all of his lameness into Smash Bros. I sincerely regret wanting him in it now

he was second to Sonic in that old poll that ran in the Brawl site. so lets hope!Pureauthor said:Now get Mega Man, Sakurai!
