Also, Intelligent Systems should really make an RPG that breaks away from the Mario universe but does incorporate some of their best original ideas, like Luvbi, Francis, and Rawk Hawk.

Well, that much should go without saying...the "Tales of Glitz Pit" could definitely be a game series unto itself, and it could star Rawk Hawk and Crazy K, the singular most "down" Nintendo character ever made. :lol

I'm really splitting hairs at this point, but I don't think Kamella really replaces Kammy. They're both female Magikoopas, but we never see Kamella in the confidante role that Kammy plays in the Paper Mario titles.

Kamella had basically no storyline role though. She was just this powerful female Magikoopa who popped up a few times and fought against Mario. I just think that the Galaxy team designing this new powerful female magikoopa rather than using Kammy effectively means she won't get acknowledged outside of Paper Mario.

Well, Birdo, the Snifits, and the Pidgits also survived SMB2. >_>

In general, though, the only bastion for the forgotten Mario enemies lately seems to be the Paper Mario titles. A lot of obscure enemies like Bandits and Nomadimice made appearances in those games.
Birdo's an interesting case because it does keep coming back, but it's never an enemy anymore.
Anyway, yeah, what I mean by only Bob-ombs and Shyguys surviving is that they return to mainstream Mario games. The rest just show up in Mario spinoffs like Yoshi's Island and Super Princess Peach. Actually, SPP was really good with reviving near-dead Mario enemies, which is one reason I love it more than a lot of people--Spike, that Hammer Bro on the flying platform, Torpedo Ted (over a year and a half before he came back in Galaxy), etc. If only they had truly gone through with including the Koopa Kids...

piantas dont look any dumber than any other mario creature.. its just the game they were in that gives them that aura of horribleness
I loved Sunshine and I still hate the Piantas. :( It's not even their look that bothers me, but the way they sound and the way they animate--oh, wait, I guess that would be a part of their look.

Well, he/she was an enemy in Mario and Luigi: Superstar Saga, but I get what you're saying. It hasn't been an enemy in a mainstream Mario game.

Piantas should never have appeared outside of Super Mario Sunshine, if they had to appear in SMS at all. We rarely see the Nomadimice (the mouse-like creatures...they debuted in Yoshi's Island and there was a town of them in Paper Mario) and the Beanbeans, Smithy Gang, Shroobs, and Moleville moles have never appeared outside of their respective games. We don't even see the penguins much anymore. Yet we see the Piantas in almost every game in some capacity. Of all the Mario "races" to overexpose, why the Piantas?

Then again, I did like Don Pianta. >_>
The bartenders in Paper Mario 2 are Beans, and some of the enemies in Galaxy look a lot like Shroobs (though I haven't checked to see if any are the same). Can't the Moleville moles really be considered Monty Moles?

The Piantas appeared so often because the tradition is for Mario spin-offs to be based off the the most recent major game in the series. Super Mario Kart borrowed from SMW, Mario Kart 64 and the N64 Mario Parties took a lot from SM64, and as such the GameCube spin-offs included the species from Sunshine. If Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games had come out after Galaxy, I'm sure there'd be less Nokis and Piantas appearing there, too. In the near-future spin-offs, I'm sure we'll be seeing more Penguins and Goombas, since they were featured more prominently in Galaxy, along with new-ish species like the Lumas.

My prediction for tonight?

PAIN.

I'm not sure if this was brought up already, but is anyone else disappointed with Nintendo's translation of Stafy's name? "Starfy" would be much more natural (as evidenced by the thread title), so I'm a little puzzled as to why the R was left out in translation. I guess if Nintendo of America/Europe have no plans to bring the little star's platformers over, though, then the pronunciation of his name ultimately doesn't matter a whole lot.

If there's no character on Monday, we'll have gone 37 days without one, and that means I'd have to start disliking the number 37 even though it's the only good number there is other than the two numbers that comprise its digits. So I predict a char--

Yeah, who am I kidding. For Monday I predict assist trophy Maria Renard, complete with a logo that's blurred so that we can't tell if it's the Smash logo or a new Castlevania logo, prompting rampant discussion about whether a CV character will be playable, whether one should be, which one will be, which one shouldd be, what art style they'll use, which stages have to be in Brawl, which music needs to be in the--

Yeah, who am I kidding. For Monday I predict how to play, Crawling.

damn summer holidays...

I thought it was monday when i looked at the clock, then ran here to check the update..

total dissapointment.

Seeing Starfy along with thinking of the non-release of Mother 3 in the states given how good both games are really makes me wonder what Nintendo of America is thinking sometimes.

Thank goodness someone had the common sense to import Kirby way back when. I can't imagine the stuff we'd have missed out on had Kirby been created around now when NoA is reluctant to release anything "cute" anymore.

Oh I know all too well. Rocky III was on though and I couldn't help it.

Also, Clubber Lang is totally in Brawl. Remember that Rocky game was on the GCN.

Quite possibly Smash Bros. itself. All it would have taken was for Kirby Super Star to never get greenlighted...

uhhh.. KrystalArchive, a site dedicated to Krystal, had an interview with Alesia about her role with Krystal, heres a snippet of it:

# KA: What was your favorite character to voice in any game?

AG: I don’t know if I could choose one favorite because they’ve each been a lot of fun in different ways. I recently really enjoyed voicing a game (can’t mention the name until it’s released) because of all the physicality that was involved. There were a lot of near death experiences and fighting so I got to scream and act out a bunch of different crazy scenarios. It was a blast.

Bar her involvement with ZSS, i think its quite safe to assume Krystal is playable now :P
*im grasping straws here*

Don't post this bullshit here.

I could honestly care less about Krystal, but even so, I could see the reason for her inclusion. She's fairly popular (probably right up there with Fox, Wolf and Falco), she could stand to have an interesting moveset...and, more importantly, her voice actor is already being employed for at least 1 entrant in the game.

I would take that, given how the likes of Charles Martinet is going to be summoned for the sake of all of Mario and his "clones" (Luigi, Wario, Waluigi), I wouldn't put it past them to give Alesia more work.

Of course, the thing I'd wonder about is...if Fox is going to still be mainly represented by his JP seiyuu in SSBX, why would they use Krystal's English actor instead of her JP one?

It really makes you think that in SSB4, Nintendo's really gonna have to start throwing in obscure series. Can Sakurai keep adding characters without throwing some shitty, lame Mario/Zelda/etc. characters over less well-known ones?

Anyway, I'm feeling that this week and next week will be a return to glory.

I've been out of the loop for a while (finals and all). So turns out the whole starting roster unveiled on the 15th was a farce?

Correct, there was absolutely nothing new in CoroCoro. Just repackaged old Dojo updates.

I recall something good came outta that..isnt it almost confirmed that Luigis Mansion will be a playable stage? :D
No, I think you're confused with the fake "news" that someone made up on Smashboards, claiming to have talked to the guy from Serebii. All of that was 100% false

I dont think so. There was a picture of squirttle using his wave attack, and it was dark and there was a moon. You could also make out a sillohute of what looked like a mansion in the back as well.

DRACULA'S CASTLE?!?!

...There was?? Is it online anywhere?

From what's been revealed so far, it's probably Battlefield.

Night battlefeild's moon is clear and distinct. This moon seems to be covered by like mist. There is also a purple hue to the whole thing that battlefeild dosent have. There is also no buildings in battlefeild in the back, just mountains.

OMG IS THIS TRUE! I HEARD JUST TODAY THAT THIS GAMER WILL SUPPORT ONLINE BATTLES!?!?!?! OMG CAN ANYONE CONFIRM THIS?
