Smash Bros Brawl Dojo Official Update Thread: Goodbye, Cherry-don

Brawl will never be as balanced as the best 1 vs 1 fighters becuase it has to be balanced for too many methods of play. Just look at all of the items vs. no items, Final Destination vs. other stages, free for all vs. 1 on 1 debate these threads catch. Brawl has to be balanced for all of these players because each method gets a sizable audience. Add to that the "advanced techniques" that made certain characters play in ways the dev group didn't intend...

The second you turn off items, characters with no projectiles or characters with fast item pickup become worse when they were with items on. Some characters have final smashes that seem like they will be great for clearing a free for all, while others target one player for massive damage. These things will never iron out over every play style.

Melee was very well balanced considering the scope of the game. I think the best we can hope for is that a good half of the roster is always viable at high level play, and none of the roster sucks as bad as Pichu/Bowser for everyone else

Come on Mii trophies!

Or let's see

Did costumes
New old stages
Old powerups
Old Pokemon

I'm gonna say old something... maybe Adventure mode is back?

I don't believe this is the case. I do think there's a high chance that Brawl will be decently balanced. If half the roster is useable, that'd be great. And at least Bowser countered Fox ;)

I dunno. GG XX has a comparable roster in size and its maybe the most balanced fighter there is.

Well yes, but isn't that because they've released something like 7 versions of the game. They've had multiple chances to retool and rebalance it.

The Subspace Emissary is the Adventure Mode. Subspace updates are under the heading "Adventure Mode" on the Dojo.
That doesn't have to stop them from putting the Adventure mode as is from Melee again. Classic Adventure or something. :lol

Dive into a ruthless battle with an army of enemy pawns: the Multi-Man Brawl!

Multi-Man Brawl hosts a wealth of different brawls, including the widely recognized 100-man Brawl.

This is the Multi-Man Brawl menu.

Speaking of the Multi-Man Brawl, what could the enemy team of fighters be this time around? It’s the Fighting Alloy Team!

various21_080108b-l.jpg

Red Alloy! He’s not the leader or anything!

various21_080108c-l.jpg

Blue Alloy! For some reason she seems kind of gentle.

various21_080108d-l.jpg

Yellow Alloy! Those horns are scintillating!

various21_080108e-l.jpg

Green Alloy! It may look like Kirby, but it’s not him!

If it’s a 100-Man Brawl, then you continue fighting until you’ve beaten 100 of them. Destroying so many really cleanses the spirit.

Just keep launching them!

This time, we’ve added a much desired mode...

Two-player Multi-Man Brawls!

Amazing! Co-op play?!

With two of you watching each other’s backs, it’s that much more fun. But that’s not all!

There’s a mode for playing with a friend over Nintendo WFC!

We’ve included online Team Multi-Man Brawl!

This is the With Friends menu.

Don’t you want to cooperate sometimes instead of just fight? That’s what this is for.

Even the first version was quite balanced. And its four times.

Multi-Man Melee Brawl.

Looks like my prediction of the Miis replacing the Fighting Wire Frames was wrong. These new Metalloid guys look pretty cool, though.

oh yeah, I still think it will be well balanced. I'm just pointing out that balanced is relative to the scope of the game. It likely won't balance as well as fighters with fewer play options such as GGXX, but I expect it to balance better than melee, which should be pleanty good

They're called Alloys in English? I prefer Metalloid (the German name), personally.

Green Alloy! It may look like Kirby, but it’s not him!

Of course not. Just like the round Fighting Wire Frame in Melee, it's Jigglypuff.

did you guys miss the real megaton?

Heh, I was being a trifle hyperbolic, but still, they improved the balance each time. I don't think we're going to get multiple rereleases with Brawl.

*head explodes*

Online Team Multi-Man Brawl is made of awesome. Didn't expect that, but damn is that going to be a nice added feature. I see myself wasting too much time in that mode online with friends.

Damn, Sakurai is really pushing on the Wi-fi content. It's funny how first he was kinda doubting about being able to make Brawl compatible with wi-fi and now he's making every mode online. Also, this is awesome, and I love The Alloys :D

I'm guessing that each type of alloy has a different character moveset as in SSBM. It seems that green we already know is Kirby. Can anyone guess the others?

I don't understand how this game keeps pulling these rabbits out of hats. I feel like there is nothing else they could possibly surprise me with and they announce it.

I hope they save some secrets, however.

Anyway my prediction for tonight: A new game mode.
I called it! Granted, I had no idea it would be this, and I would've sworn we'd have gotten fighting Miis, but hey, these alloy guys seem pretty cool.

And is it just me, or does it seem like the updates are comming about 5 or ten minutes earlier then before the break?
