Smash Direct coming December 15th

Who do you want announced as a new fighter for Smash?

I don't see what's so hard to grasp about that analogy. Being female is a novelty character trait, like being an antagonist, robot, quadruped or of a non-standard race / deviant sexuality. It's okay to want more of them in the game - everyone has their preferences - but there's no pressing need for Smash or any other game to include minorities that have no need to be there. Especially since women only make up 12% of the human population, expecting anything else just isn't realistic.

In retrospect, most of my mains I've not had a connection to outside of Smash. I had no idea who Kirby or Fox were until after 64, and the only Starfox games I've played are Adventures and 64. In Melee I had never played a Dr. Mario game, much less a Fire Emblem one with Roy. And I really don't care for the Mother series, even though I've attempted to play it. Hell, I wanted Little Mac in not because I like Punch Out, but because I thought it'd be a fun moveset. I guess the closest connection I had was Pokemon Trainer, as I've been playing the games since Red/Blue.

But I guess there's a connection within Smash. My brothers know that when I pick Lucas, they won't win and it'll be hard for them and when I pick Little Mac it's because they've won a bunch and have yet to figure out how to fight against Little Mac. And if I pick Jigglypuff, I have to wear the strawhat- because it's my ass kicking hat.

Yep, the connection side of things runs deep in my smash circle. To the point where playing as someone else's character is you playing as that person lol. "Oh so you're playing as Andrew today?" (person just picked Marth). That little element to it makes it quite special. Which is why the lack of a current character for me sucks. In fine being a drifter but at some point you wanna settle.

Pretty much. At least from the sound of things we'll know for certain whether he's in this game or not from this direct. That way we can take a break and worry about his inclusion in the next smash whenever that happens.

I think you'd find that a bit in everyone. Without Lucas, I was in the same situation. I had characters I liked, but nothing felt like it did in other games where I thought "this is my main". I drifted from Megaman to Greninja to Robin to Duck Hunt and Villager. I liked Little Mac, but I also hated Little Mac. Doc didn't feel like he used to and neither did Kirby or Fox- though I'll occasionally now go back to Kirby more often. And Charizard I don't even touch-- after going back to Brawl they changed him pretty significantly.

I do wonder if that's because of balance patches though changing how a character feels. I recall really liking Greninja and Duck Hunt until after a patch-- where I now only play as Duck Hunt every so often.

To some extent, if they made a indie rep, Madotsuki would atleast make some sense. Memorable game, and the first real Indie since Yume Nikki was released before Cave Story. :O

I guess not alot of Nintendo fans would know of her to vote, but there is a huge cult following of all the RPG Maker Horror characters in Smash for years before the ballot, (yeah, Yume Nikki isn't really the same kinda horror but they always get grouped together in fan art) so who knows eh? Its nice to dream. Hopefully it is a peaceful dream...

Anywayz: Likely my last post for awhile. Finally getting moving tomorrow and may be without internet until January, or atleast a few days. Don't know yet. See ya later! And you can bet on me going to McDonald's or something on Tuesday if I have no internet for the characters. ;)

Eh. I like both games, but I like Yume Nikki a lot more. Don't ask me why. Either way, a total lack of presence on a Nintendo system kinda shoots down all of their chances, as well as most Indie characters except Shovel Knight, Shantae, and Quote, so I'll keep my expectations realistic with a side of Ridley.

I didn't even take it as a literal example... what do you think the word analogy means?

Your analogy fell flat because the comparison didn't work. The fact that it was silly is irrelevant. The point of an analogy is to compare one thing to another in a way that connects them and makes sense. Comparing villains to parrots doesn't make sense. Comparing villains to something more "serious" like tigers or demons doesn't make sense either. People want more women and villains not because of the simple fact that they are women and villains and therfore should get in for that reason alone, but because of the fact that there are a plethora of them to choose from throughout gaming that have an argument for inclusion. There are a ton of them that deserve to get in that just aren't getting in for whatever reason. There isn't some kind of imaginary women/villain quota, there are just a lot to choose from and people want to see them.

But to get back to the original post. Villains are definitely underrepresented and not simply because they're villains, but because they're important characters to the series they come from. King K. Rool, Wolf, Ridley, Black Shadow, Samurai Goroh, Kamek, Captain Syrup, Medusa, Porky, etc.
 
Crono, Arthur (Gouls n Ghosts) and Simon Belmont would burn this game into the pages of history.
 
I feel like I'm sputtering to the finish line with this broadcast. By that I mean I am SO TIRED of speculation, etc. I just want to see the icing on this delicious cake and finally call the roster complete. It's been an amazing ride, but I'm so eager to see the roster's final form, whatever it may be. :-)
 
I'm wondering how they're going to fit all these characters into the 3DS character selection screen. As of now, there's literally no more space in character select screen lol

I'm guessing they're going to add a little slot that brings up 3 extra slots or whatever.

The slots on the 3DS screen are not perfect squares. They're actually 44x40 (or maybe it was 40x44). If you shave off just four pixels so they're 40x40, you can fit six extra characters on the 3DS screen (that's including Cloud).

Here's what it would look like:

That image always excites the fuck out of me because six more characters would be delicious, even as unlikely as it may be.

Pls gib Cloud, Inkling, Wolf, Ice Climbers, Snake, and Chorus Kids.

Cue someone dashing my Chorus Kids and ICs dream and me responding with shooshes because my hope is everlasting.

So.. Cloud and the possibility of 5 others? (I doubt Sakurai will make 5 more characters just to make the 3DS version a perfect brick.)

5 others? Pichu, Wolf, Snake, Ice Climbers, Ballot Character. Every Smash Brother ever (assuming Young Link is now Toon Link) plus a fan selected newcomer.
